  1. Some of my favorites, in no particular order: - 1) Macross (all series)...duh! 2) Wicked City. 3) AD Police OVA. 4) Bubble Gum Crisis OVA (not the crappy 2040 TV). 5) Record of Lodoss War. 6) Legend of Galactic Heros. 7) Blue Gender. Escaflowne. 9) Combattler V. 10) Mospeada. 11) Char's Counter Attack. 12) Perfect Blue. 13) Patlabor Movies, OVAs & TV. 14) Gall Force. 15) MD Geist. 16) 08th Mobile Suit Team. 17) 0080 War In The Pocket. 18) Victory Gundam. 19) Sonic Soldier Borgman. 20) Laputa. 21) Nausica. 22) Beserk. 23) Otaku No Video. 24) GITS 1 & 2. 25) Cowboy Bepop. My tastes are firmly rooted in he 80-90s'. I mostly like real-robot mecha shows, although there are exceptions. I tend to stay away from comedy anime, sports anime, romantic anime, super robot anime and anything involving Ninjas, with the exception of Ninja Scroll. Can't stand Evangelion or that GGG show. Akira is overated IMO. The animation is excellent, but the story leaves something to be desired. Never felt any connection with the characters either. I'd rather watch Memories instead. If I had to narrow it down to my top 3 favorite non-Macross anime, they would be: Wicked City, Blue Gender and Bubble Gum Crisis. Graham
  2. Yay, just got shipping notice from Amazon that season 3 & 4 have shipped! Time for some gratuitous S&W645 and Testerossa action! Graham
  3. Heh, but will it be the movie version with loincloth, or the comic version without? Graham
  4. Not sure why you are mentioning Bandai's name in connection with the new Macross series? At this stage, the name(s) of the major sponser has not been announced. Certainly, there has been no public announcement that Bandai is in any way, shape or form connected with the new series. The only confirmed players in the game so far are Satelite, Big West, Victor & Kawamori. Any other names are at this stage pure speculation. Graham
  5. What I really hated about that movie, was actually the terrain. It was so obvious that it was filmed in North America or Canada and not in a tropical or sub-tropical asian country. Stood out like a sore thumb and really spoiled the movie for me. Graham
  6. I started watching anime in the late 80s and have watched a lot of titles, but I have to admit, I've never even heard of some of the titles you mention, like Roots Search, Angels Egg & Twilight Q. First anime I ever watched was the very first OVA ever 'Dallos'. Not much to say about understanding your post. Everybody has their own indiviual tastes so what's to understand? What I will say though, is MD Geist rocks! Graham
  7. While trying in vain to track down a Yamato 1/12 Scopedog here in Hong Kong (they're all sold out everywhere), I came across a single lone Toys R Us limited edition giftset, consisting of the Scopedog and Parachute Sack in a special box. Anybody know if this is a ver.1 or ver.2 Scopedog? Also, what is the exact difference between versions? Is a version 2 just a version 1 with all the fiddly little bits for the joints you get with the weapons sets already installed, or does it actually have all new tooling for the joints? Graham
  8. Heh, my 2 year, 9 month old son really likes the Takara DMZ Scopedog. Every night when I come home for the last 3 nights, he keeps asking me to play with it (he knows not to touch the toys in my display case without asking permission first). I take the toy out for him and he really likes opening and closing the cockpit and taking out the Chirico figure and movingthe gun arm and making shooting noises. Graham
  9. Saw it last night with the wife, we both enjoyed it. Will probably buy the DVD when it comes out. Graham
  10. Any true Sci-Fi fan should read the original novel by Roger Zelazny that the movie is loosely based on. The movie is OK, but the book is far better. Graham
  11. That's actually extremely old news (several years at least). I'm surprised the Telegragh is just publishing it now. Also, the Telegraph is notoriously anti-Typhoon. According to news last October, which I consider more credible, the RAF will be getting ammunttion and training for the Typhoon's 27mm Mauser cannon. Typhoon wins gun dogfight By Neil Tweedie (Filed: 03/10/2006) "The RAF has been forced into an embarrassing U-turn on its policy of not allowing pilots of the new Eurofighter Typhoon to fire their gun. The service has decided to issue ammunition to future Typhoon squadrons and train pilots in using the fighter's single German-made 27mm Mauser cannon, reversing its cost-cutting edict. The decision follows experience in Afghanistan showing that guns are still one of the most effective weapons when supporting ground troops. In a scathing e-mail, a Parachute Regiment major commanding an isolated outpost described air support from RAF Harriers, which have no guns and rely on rockets, as "utterly, utterly useless". He contrasted their performance with the support offered by US air force A10 aircraft, which are equipped with a 30mm rotary cannon. At a conference last week, Air Vice-Marshal David Walker, the officer commanding No 1 Group, which includes the Harrier and the newly-forming Typhoon squadrons, said he had decided to proceed with the Typhoon gun, buying ammunition, spares and maintenance equipment. Seven years ago, the ministry decided to dispense with the gun on all but the first 55 of the 232 Typhoons planned for RAF service, in contrast to the other nations in the Eurofighter consortium, which kept it on all ordered aircraft. The experts argued that Typhoon did not need anything as crude as a gun. The plan would have saved the taxpayer about £90 million. But Typhoon is designed to such fine specifications that the loss of the gun created a weight imbalance and it was finally realised that the cheaper and easier option would be to fit a real cannon." I've heard that the shoulder section and bicep swivel joint will both be changed to POM on the Shin VF-0A. Hopefully, that will solve the problem. I need to chase Yamato for info on the availabilioty date of spares tho. Graham
  13. The figures and command car are in scale with the die-cast Ingram. I think the scale is a bit smaller than 1/48 though. Graham
  14. 'He'? I always thought the kid was a she. Mind you it's been ages scince I last watched the TV series. Never been a fan of the Griffen. Always liked the military designs more, especially the Helldiver. Graham
  15. The kid in black is from the tV series IIRC and is the pilot of that ugly black Labor with wings. Can't remember the name of it, maybe 'Griffen'. Yes, the hand extends on the CM's. It should be smaller than 1/48 as the pilot figure is smaller than a Yamato 1/48 VF-1 pilot. Graham
  16. I think it's going to be blind boxes. Graham
  17. I'm probably going to go with Drifand's solution and glue the fingers on the rifle holding hand. Question 1, which glue works best on the PVC DMZ hands? Question 2, anybody got the new Microman Chirico figure with the big machine gun yet? Are the joints a bit stiffer? BTW, my son really likes the Takara 1/18 Scopedog. He has good taste in mecha as he also likes the Yamato YF-19, VF-0 & VF-1! Graham
  18. 1) There are a few people at Yamato who speak very good English. Yes, selective topics on the MW forums are read. Not all the time, but occasionally. 2) While I'm not allowed to go into detail yet, the wings do have an interesting feature, that should help with concerns about strength. 3) I've already informed Yamato about the hip gatlings at Wonder Festival. I'm waiting for an answer about whether they will be changed. Graham
  19. I'm very excited about it. I love the SV-51. I do prefer Nora's colors to Ivanov's though. Still trying to figure out how I'm going to make room for one, let alone multiples in my display case though. Graham
  20. Just to clarify, before people start panicking this is not at all true, just I guess an attempt at sarcasm. We really need some sort of sarcasm smiley, so people know when things are true just a joke. If I was Yamato, I'd be thinking about suing Retracting Head Ter Ter about now for Libel. Wonder if he is a HG or Toynami agent? Graham
  21. Have held, it, but didn't dare transform the resin prototype, it's worth too much. I did open, close & fold a few parts, but that's all. Graham
  22. Doesn't it also include some sort of reference book? Graham
  23. Just ordered both Gates of Fire & 300 from Amazon. can't wait to read them. Will be seeing the movie on Thursday. Graham
  24. While overall, I like the Takara 1/18 DMZ Scopedog, the crappy hands and Microman piss me off more and more each day. Definitely going to try the Yamto if I can find one. Seems they're sold out everywhere here. Graham
  25. Saw the Tyrants at WonderFest. They are all PVC, with no or almost no articulation, well maybe the just the shoulders and hips (unsure). Graham
