The only perspective of the Colonials in regards to the Cylons is that of Galactica, Pegasus and their "ragtag" fleet, and they have been on the run since episode 1. The Cylons could have legions, and no one would ever know of it. It has been 40 years after all and we're talking about machines who have nothing better to do...
