  1. Could you post some pics please? I didn't know that the YF-19 arms could explode like the VF-0!
  2. This looks awesome! I just can't resist. Can anybody compare the tail fins to see if they are smaller than the usual VF-1 tail fins?
  3. On the underside of the backplate. If you look at the gerwalk mode of the VF-27 here: You can clearly see that the backplate doesn't break in half to become the shield, unlike the VF-25.
  4. Just some quick calculations-- The VF-11B is 15.51m long and in 1/60 scale. From the lineart I'd guess that the solid rocket booster would be about 2/3 to 3/4 the length of the fighter i.e. about 10-12 m long The SRB (Solid Rocket Booster) for the shuttle is 45.5m long (4 times longer than the VF-11B booster) hence you would need to steal the boosters off a 1/240 scale shuttle ideally. I've seen space shuttle kits (including the boosters which is what we need) that are 1/72, 1/144, 1/200 and one weird kit by revell that is in 1/288 scale--- I'd guess either the 1/200 kit or the 1/288 kit might do. I'm actually really tempted to try this! Will make further measurements once I get my VF-11B, which should be early may (expecting a late april release).
  5. Hehe that shoulder statement is a little ironic considering that most of the breakages we have had are due to the shoulder screws breaking-- but the problem would be much worse I guess (and we have only had what, 4-5 reports of breaking screws?). Well, the shield problem would never even come up with the VF-27 since the backplate for the VF-27 is not part of the shield! So get on with it already!
  6. I'm with Sharky on this-- better than starting a new thread, when half the time people will be asked to look for the old thread instead! Anyway, I'm interested with this as well-- I'll probably get the sharks teeth from a 1/72 fighter decal sheet, I'll get the monster girl ranka from the new deculture decal set that is coming out either this week or next with the new 1/72 VF-25G. And the other random SMS logos and SMS words from the various decal sets that I have lying around now--- it just wont look exactly the same because I'm worried some of the decals (esp the SMS logo and SMS words) will be too small. But this is certainly doable just by cannibalizing some other decal sheets and there should be no need to have to print your own decals!
  7. Damn! That is an impressive YF-24. SK should really do all these aircraft promotional videos ala company advertisements. They are short, sweet and can boost interest in Macross! Quick question, is the shinsei industries logo official, or just a modification of the LM logo?
  8. Yes and no-- how often do fighter jets hit their top speed anyway, except in testing? Can the F-16 even hit Mach 2.0 when loaded with 2 1000lb and 2 AMRAAMs? I think the F-35 should be able to sustain a greater average speed than the teen series fighters, even if the top speed is lower, thus not being a slow fighter by any means. Condolences to the family of the test pilot. Will this crash affect the number of operational fighters (i.e. down to 182 from 183)? Depending on the conditions of the crash it might affect the number of additional fighters the AF may get. But, looking at it another way, crashes are bound to happen-- even the B-2, treated with extra special kid gloves, crashed from--water condensing in a pitot tube. I just hope this doesn't scare away supporters of the F-22 program.
  9. Thanks for the link, but 2 leechers and 0 seeders?
  10. But that doesn't explain why, out of all the VFs, the VF-1 is so small. I mean, the VF-0 is similar in size to the VF-19 or VF-25, and looks more like them than the VF-1. We all know that that is because the VF-0 was designed retroactively, but what in-universe reason could there be?
  11. Yes the position of the leg itself is the same, but the top of the armour on the back of the legs is actually above the fuselage now, as in the lineart for the Armoured variant, unlike the DX toy or even the super parts.
  12. I take it to mean that he is satisfied that the chogokin is the best it could possibly be given the constraints of durability, materials, etc. For my part I'm just glad that the DX toy finally has a variant where the backs of the legs actually look good and the bent wings are covered by the missile pods to boot! That, along with the supposedly fixed neck on the reissue VF-25S, is probably as close to perfection for the DX VF-25 line as you can get, even if the armour pack landing gear is probably going to make it look like a drag racer on the ground. Now, on to the VF-27 and the VF-171!!
  13. Thanks for the link! Well I guess SK himself talking about the difficulties of the DX toy will soothe some of the detractors of the design. On a related note-- the VF-25S Armoured finally has the back of the legs sticking up past the fuselage! (Scans page 17) After the disappointment of the original and the Super packs, it is good to know that some anime accuracy in that area has been achieved at least Page 19 needs some translation--- it concerns the Super packs exclusive release, but there is a heading where the VF-25S and Alto's name are together! Is this the rumored VF-25S Alto version? Translation please! (Highlighted red words in the middle of the page) Also on page 19--- seems like the re-issued VF-25S and VF-25F will be late March (i.e. this week or next?) I don't see anything on the Super pack release date though?? I wish the VF-27 would come out too! but it seems that the transformation would be even more complicated than the VF-25, especially because of the weird quad-canards on the front-- those things are really out of place and can potentially break easily during transformation, which would violate the chogokin durability rule. Hopefully we will get at least a 1/72 kit though . The VF-171 is definitely more doable, I hope Bandai does a better job on it than their old VF-17. I also hope that the missiles that come with Luca's web exclusive kit will be compatible with the VF-171 DX toy!
  14. You could probably score the boosters off a Space shuttle kit, and then scratchbuild the pylons (which should be pretty easy). Do post pics if you do it!
  15. Wow it looks amazing! I don't see any connection points for the flight deck on the back though, so I guess it's rubber band time for eriku?
  16. Haha ok... I wish they would announce the future model kit releases already!
  17. Either way, that doesn't affect the flashback, which was from Macross 7 right? So I guess we can safely say that Hikaru and Max both piloted the VF-1S at the same time side by side. I'm just whiling away the time till Graham posts his magazine scans of the Armoured pack
  18. IF it can be holstered. That would be super cool!
  19. Actually Luca hasn't been shown much after the initial promo launch shots for the VF100s line-- Could they have decided to postphone it and release the fire valk first?
  20. Looks like they used the 'short neck' first release? Hopefully Graham will post the scans with better pictures soon!
  21. I don't think Yamato will re-issue anything from the 1/48 line since they have moved on to the 1/60 v2.
  22. Thanks for the links and the translation! I think this just shows how MF really needed more episodes in order to expand on the character development-- Ohnogi has all these great ideas in his mind but they didn't translate well (if at all) to the show. Ranka really got the short end of the stick.
  23. Oh, has anybody checked for the extra holes on their VF-25G and see whether the extra big hole on the backplate for the radome can be opened up?
