  1. The printed panels lines, yes definitely. But also the quality of the printing isn't great. Lots of dots to make up shades and it's in weird colours you wouldn't expect. Like gray!
  2. I tackled my VF-25G recently and tightened up the joints in both hips and shoulders. Also did the feet too. In all three cases, tightening the screws helps. I went one step further though and used a toothpick to apply gel type superglue in a random, scratched on pattern. I basically let it set before putting everything back together and it made it nice and tight while still keeping the motion of the joint.
  3. It's possible this is exactly what they did. The lower legs are molded in white and painted red, just like the plugs, while the upper plugs are red plastic, just like thigh parts they fit in. I think you've identified why it came out the way it did.
  4. That is soooo good Xigfrid! Both poses are incredibly menacing. I still can't believe you managed to get this thing made so well, and to have it be so articulated too. Well done!
  5. That is SOME craziness going on there with the Super YF-29. I love it! Makes you appreciate how far they had to pull the stops out to get it up to beat out the 27. Excellent shots as usual Saburo. I'll have to drag the camera out again soon. It's been way too long and most of my stuff lately is all edited snaps from my phone. Just doesn't have the same sparkle to it...

Perhaps they'll keep the original size for the upcoming Super Parts with Missiles bundle. I can hope, right?
  7. Ooooh, my mouth is literally watering. And not because of Mikumo! I hear Japanese whisky is just amazing!
  8. I should thank @Xigfrid as well - he actually got the ball rolling on this deal by sending me a PM about a few VF-27s up for sale. I damaged my gun by attempting to straighten out a very slight curve and made it 10x worse in the process. Anyway, he contacted me and told me I could always sell Sildani the super parts. In the end, the option of buying a whole '27 turned out way too expensive but I realised I didn't intend on ever displaying the supers on what I had. I contacted Sildani to see if he was still looking and the rest just sort of developed from there. It's great to have such a supportive and truly global community of folks!
  9. Wow! The detail on that pilot figure is amazing for 1/72. The person who built that for Hasegawa has some impressive talent. I'm also digging the gloss finish on this, surprisingly. It took Bandai so long to switch from that to more matte textures on their plastic, it's ironic that these more bright and in your face schemes almost need that glossy look to complete the picture.
  10. Awe shucks... You're too kind sir. Have you discovered the instrument panel yet? As I recall, that's the first thing I did to it. It started to snowball from there. Great additions, all! @Tking22: which Prime is that? Omega is massive, but it's a whole new level if that's the "big" MPP-10 you've got there.
  11. Canopy tint from ultra dark blue to an almost aqua tone, fold crystals from the bizarre blue to a more appropriate Fold Crystal Purple, and a very tedious and frustrating attempt to give the front sensor window a body tinted "frame" around the segments. Here's a look at what they're like, stock: Sorry for the O/T...
  12. *Sniff, sniff* So glad Isamu went to a good home... Grace looks really great too, by the way!
  13. LOVE your work Xigfrid! Really impressively done modelling there.
  14. I've had good luck with just Setter (the opaque blue stuff) entirely on its own. I use that pretty much every time and only come along and use the Softer (Clear stuff) for areas where the decal isn't snugging down into the contours. Determining whether or not it's going to settle down is tricky though - the decal has to be almost completely dry before you can really tell with any certainty. So generally if there are panel lines or other fine surface detail that I've got any doubts about, I'll just use the Softer after the Setter has had a few minutes to dry.
  15. MT that is nuts! Brings a new definition to what I'd consider "precision" - perhaps you'd like to consider building Integrated circuits next? It looks so realistic, it's got me wondering what the range is on the radar?

Sounds an awful lot like apple to me and even if you're not a fan, it absolutely seems to work for them. Apple always has fans lining up before a phone release and over here in Australia, there's often a massive shortage in devices, so those that camp out actually have a better chance of getting what they want. But wait a couple of weeks and they're everywhere and not at all hard to get. Doesn't stop the hardcore fans from being first and absolutely doesn't seem to affect the desire to have them after release.

I don't know, I'm beginning to wonder if this "limited availability" stuff we're seeing lately is actually isn't such a bad technique. For Bandai, I mean. The surest way to make sure your product moves is to have your customers believe that if they wait, they'll miss out. It's been working for a while for them now. Only recently have there been extras available after release, and even with those, they eventually disappear too (looking at you, VF-31C and SV-262). Maybe this "ultra limited, event exclusive and/or lottery only" approach is just the next logical progression?

    Bandai DX VF-31

Looks very, very nice! I have to say I'm confused as to why they went the extra effort to make the bigger front winglets, massive split gray "fold carbon" collarbone pieces, missiles instead of drones, and then for some inexplicable reason, totally forgot about the completely different arrangement of the nose sensors. They've already modified the mold for all those parts above (not to mention the wings themselves of course) so why not go 100% and get the nose right? I can forgive the charging pod because that's how it was shown anyway...
  19. I'm actually beginning to wonder if the doors are all the same from top and bottom. Maybe they've been put into the wrong parts?
  20. Just wanted to add a few pics to better describe my particular gripes with the parts, specifically the missile packs. Hopefully they speak for themselves but my issue is with the way the doors fit, the sprue marks, and the paint application. I'll stress again, I do actually like them, I just am not sure what happened in the QC department for these things. Sprue marks on the edges of the doors (front and back, the removed door is similar): The shape of the door doesn't seem to allow for the contour of the body of the pack, with the missiles peaking out from the gap here: A shot of the edge of the gold, showing the gappiness of the pain app at the back here: A (bad) closeup of the gold paint. This doesn't appear to be paint that has flaked off, either. It's just been applied poorly from what I can see. Anyone else notice this sort of thing?

I was surprised to see that the Lilldraken drones don't want to go on to the arms of the VF-31 though. Not sure if I was doing something wrong but it appears the outer "tabs" of the mount on the drone, are shaped a bit too wide to press into the slots in the arm. Anyone else try this?
