  2. Me too! Thanks posters. You don't have to have the whole set; I only have one 1/48 yammie 1j- late to the game. I collected the 1/60 v2 a strike pack, a naked valk, and a GBP. But I still kept the 1/48 even if it's not in scale. Buying one of each mold is ok. I don't have the space or money to buy 3 of everything. I think the photos of peeps posting their old 1/48 yammies look nice next to the new dx. As you mentioned, the 1J and 1S are out of this world scalping, so I'll pass unless the 1S goes down like the 1A. The Fokker is likely to be even more expensive. But buying one of the mold, it's just the head and colors (which you can repaint if you don't like the colors, but that blue is looking sweet).
  3. I like the yellow arrow. Hazard symbols are often in yellow and that's where the laser gun is pointing in the fighter mode so air traffic staff don't touch the hot barrel (s) or damage the monocle. I think the movie 1A has a little square guard that sticks out past the camera monocle so it doesn't break.
  4. Hacchaka's review pic shows the eye detail. that really pops! Does anyone with the 1J look at the eye detail? The 1j and 1S have more antenae, but it looks like Max has got some nice cameras in there.
  5. nice pics Yes That panel lining really breaks up the bland white I used to use the fine brush gundam marker (you can wipe mistakes, not the thick generic marker) and grey color for white pieces, black for darker colors, and brown for reds. I use the panel liner that comes in a jar as it runs along the lines, but it's not a wash. Works with Gundams and valks. Probably the helmet covers the face so it's intended for the generic pilots and the cannon fodder VF-1A. Been away for a bit. All those nice pics of the Max blue is growing on me. Seems like the prices aren't as gouging as the VF-1S. Might pull the trigger.

The tomahawk/warhammer prototype in lavender grey has been teased at different shows. Just put it out already Bandai!

@sqidd look at the posting above about Mandarake with HMR under a certain price. The Spartan/Archer had a lot of metal in it and feels quality, but hasn't gone up in price much. The regults are similar in quality and metal, but have shot up in price. The glaug/marauder is good quality, but hasn't gone up too much in price. The destroid monster/longtom is good quality and heavy, if you have the space. The VF-4 is nice if you like the design. The VF-1 HMR are all variations of the same upgraded design of the HM design. These are very durable toys, and many peeps on this board have dropped them no damage. Kids can play and not break these. Much better quality than Toynami etc. Peeps like them because this line is extensive including enemy mecha and destroids, that aren't produced in the 1/60 or 1/48 scale. Those scales produce much higher quality and more expensive VF but fragile though. These scales and pricing isn't for kids.
  8. The VF-1A Max is plain white on the top for the fighter mode, and the shading could spruce it up.
  9. Fantastic paint job. It is yours @sh9000? nice base paint job too.
  10. We'd be interested to see the final product. I think it's because they overdo the cel shading, and the shadows on the parts aren't consistent with each other. I've seen some Gundam Exia etc that the lighting looks like it comes from one source, so the "shiny" parts are all on one side, the shadow parts are on on the other (mostly). This Grimlock is ok though I didn't play the video game so I don't know if it's video game accurate. The shading seems a little aggressive. I prefer the lighter touch of the guy who won a contest with his Gundam that really looks like a 2D photo or picture from the cartoon. The pencil work looks like it came straight out of the comic/anime. First pic is from hwadam7788, who does commission work. The lower photos are another artist who won a contest. below is by Mumumuno53
  11. From all angles. There are Gundams that were painted like straight out of the anime and don't even look like 3d kits by a Korean guy for Gundam contests in recent years. Mafex is cell shading Spiderman like in the comics. Bandai could sell these as premium finishes.
  12. DX VF-1 is the creme de la creme I feel ya the arcadia 1/60 are very similar detail and have improvements over the 1/48 yammies. the 1/60 are much cheaper and easy available than dx, and some of them come with the super/fast packs and missiles and often cost less than the DX without the packs and missiles. You can also collect hmr which are inexpensive, but much smaller (less detailed) but also have enemy mecha and destroids. the arcadia 1/60 is probably the best value because it is very similar to the dx (dx seems based on the yammie/arcadia design) and the yammie 1/48, but much better than the hmr. Other brands available are kitzconcept, and Toynami, but I don't recommend Toynami.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Thanks @jenius. Just watched your vid. I wasn't folding the radome on the outside hinges. Now there's enough clearance for the landing gear.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Noob question: the radome in fighter mode is longer than the rear landing gear. How do you get it so the landing gear extends more than the folded up radome for the tarmac? Also in fighter mode, the transparent stand piece locks into the underside of the cockpit, and tabs into the left shin, but there's a gap and it doesn't tab into the right shin. From @jenius review of the first vf31, it tabs into both shins. Does it tab in with radome folded underneath? thanx

    Bandai DX VF-31

I’m looking at more photos of it, it’s color scheme is similar to vf25s or mpm starscream takara version. That’s a shame if they don’t re release it. A brownie ver could be cool. Or a low vis. Weird that they don’t milk the mold like they did with the vf31 backward wings. I like the missiles on the legs. The 31a head looks like evangelion. SNL says one to display, one to mint, one just in case. Or one in each mode. Hehe

    Bandai DX VF-31

Thanks Jenius I watched your YouTube guides. That’s crazy, I thought the scalping on the dx vf1 anf vf25 was excessive. Usually the cannon fodders are cheaper because they are less popular and plain colors. I’ll wait for a reissue or repaint. It’ll be a while because I have long list of anime to catch up on, haha.

    Bandai DX VF-31

This is my first vf31 So my comments might be old news. I haven’t watched Delta yet. I like the improvements and engineering over the vf15v2. The cockpit torso area is so much improved. The dx vf1 is still easier to transform though. the design and aesthetic are really nice. I like the radome over the gunpod rectangle thing. It seemed like it was there to fill out the empty space where the arms used to be on the Vf25. It doesn’t have something to peg into in battroid though so it might be loose in the long run, but that’s the same with the gun pods. I didn’t like the parts forming shield on the vf25 though. Although the arms are easier to transform, hiding them in thick cutouts in the wings isnt as good as the vf25 or vf1 as a design. Seems lazy to hide them in those cutouts. the backpack wings kibble is even bigger than the vf25, and looks weird, and is back heavy. The cape on the vf1 could open up as wings in battroid mode or close as as cape/tail so it had minimal kibble. The landing gear in the knees are joke. There’s room in the shins for proper landing gear. One foot is improved over the vf25. The other foot recesses back in with minimal manipulation. The legs look a lot like the 171. I don’t know what the green things are in the leg engines but it looks like it has to do with the square and L parts. there are a lot of double hinges and are these stress points in the future? I had a vf25 double hinge that broke even though It was on display and not during transformation. There are a lot of parts around the cockpit on the vf31 that are hinges. The frosted glass is too thick, can’t see the pilots. They’d be piloting blind. It feels really solid (but the vf1 dx feels even more solid). I might buy the vf31a if they ever rerelease it, since it has traditional wings or a recolor of it. This is a very cool addition to my collection of Macross. Also glad that I didn’t have to go preorder madness to buy it.

Thanks. That sucks. He’d have to glue it on when he gets the part.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I’m not sure what is wrong? I just got my first vf31, and it’s so cool. Thanks to whoever posted the link at release.
  21. In case of scalping, break glass. Max and 1s are opposite: Max is plain, 1S is covered in markings. Same. Already a yammie in all head molds, in 1/60 and 1/48 so it's hard to justify buying . I'd collect the 1S and 1j if at MSRP. The 1a is less popular and cheaper so I'll probably buy one when it's out. I'm not a fan of the Delta cartoon, and I hate preorder madness, so I didn't collect the previous dx V-31. Chuck was available at release at msrp, so I bought. It's sweet.

I like the box with the cover and window on the first HM that looked like yammie boxes. Flip over the cover and the fighter is displayed withe missiles.
  23. Someone posted a while back that Max 1a was going down in price so scalpers probably having a hard time moving their preorders compared to 1j and 1s. It’s the same mold except for the head. The 1s and 1j are more popular so more expensive/scalping. If you are a fan of Max it’s probably more available and not as expensive.

Right, I guess I was thinking of Nexx rather than Sylvie. Maybe Bandai doesn't know how popular the Tomahawk is. Why wouldn't they release that first? And if the line is going down like some rumors say, they should cash in on their mold since the Tomahawk has already been on display at some shows. I don't mind the purplish gray color, I can paint over it.

@Saburo nice pic. Your photos are so clean. I haven't collected any of vf31 variants because I'm not into Delta, but this one with the radome looks pretty sweet.
