  1. splitting up the vf1s and the strike pack is even more preorder madness. It'll be crazy!
  2. Wow! when is the preorder madness? Gotta grab this, as I'm a DYRL fan. This is my favorite DYRL mecha. Surprised they are issuing this before fokker.

I think Bandai installed the left foot part on the right foot. Check out the gray plastic horizontal bar on each foot. The ostrich and 1D right foot in orange has the bar on the same side as the 1j left foot whereas the 1 j right foot has it on the other side. Is that the defect?

Same. The Ostrich and the 1D were a problem on the right foot. Wow! I haven't seen 1/48 scale Regult before. Can the HMR VF1 fit in there? I was thinking the same about the right foot being installed incorrectly or with the left foot rotator backwards because it rotates forwards a lot but not back. You're right about anime magic. That Regult soldier next to the Regult couldn't be similar in size to the 1D when he grabbed his foot. And who owns the uniform for Max's outfit? Zentran Hulk? Just kidding. That's a good point. As a Macross fan and Transformers fan, scale isn't really a "big" thing for me as Transformers change scale from a giant robot to a small cassette or gun. Transformers didn't really explain the scale problem in their TV show, not in the early seasons (I didn't watch after that), so it's anime magic or nonsensical toy selling cartoon/commercial. For Macross, it was a more "serious" storyline, and they did explain the reason for the size of battroid. @Hardlynever captured the moment on the VF1D when Roy explained it. @nightmareB4macross also got the screen capture of the canon fodders grabbing that Regult, which are consistent with the narrative of the storyline. Although the ability to expand or shrink was definitely available to the Zentran/Meltran, it was through a machine that they didn't carry with them on person. It was used on those 3 spy guys once, and they stayed that size for a long time, but unless that Regult pilot expanded while he was walking from his Regult, his corpse was about the same size as a battroid. It's probably anime magic for the other scenes where the Regults are just a bit bigger than the battroid, and the Macross scale/line art is probably an afterthought since it isn't consistent with Roy's speech. IIRC, there was also mention of the size of the halls/doorways, the controls of the SDF1 when the humans found it, so they decided to build battroids and it was the basis for that scale. I haven't watched Macross TV in a long time, so I might be inaccurate. I'd point out there's no wrong answer; we're all big fans since we think about this science fiction, haha! I'd collect Macross toys even if they weren't in scale. It's fun to see them in different scales. Like the Transformers Masterpiece line, there are 3rd parties that upscale to the scale they think matches the cartoon. They could do that with HMR too. It'd probably be cheaper than an actual HMR Regult on ebay.

Hi Tekering, love your photos. How do my statements contradict each other? I think the 1/60 Regult scales with the VF1 HMR because in some of the Macross episodes, the Zentran are about the size of the battroid. So the battroid should almost fit inside a Regult. And since Max's battroid could fit the Zentran uniform, the scale looks correct. I think the HMR Regult scales with the HMR VF1 according to the scaled line art, but the scale doesn't make sense.
  7. The head sculpt looks like Temjin from Virtua On:

I think the 1/60 regult scales pretty nice with the hmr vf-1. It looks like it could fit inside the regult.

my VF1D can't do that with the right foot
  10. The head looks like Temjin from Virtua On.
  11. I think the vf1s is next too. The 1a head is a different sculp than the 1j, and Bandai released it before the M&M. Though at this rate, I'd collect the M&M 1j for a 1j if they don't reissue the 1j. Or even the brownie 1j if they release it. I don't think the 1s head sculpt would be an upscale; the dx vf1j had antennae that were on ball joints, but the hmr were just on a swivel. Also the I think the visor has finer lines I think on the DX than the HMR.

I think he's talking about the neck not rotating into place under the fuselage from battroid to gerwalk/fighter mode. Out of the box, the neck would rotate forward for the seat accessory and hikaru to sit on, but rotating the neck back into the chest/back/fuselage required serious force. The hip bar was tricky cuz the back of the head sticks out so much. I think I did the steps you took Chronocidal, but that neck was stuck until I forced it.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I think if toy makers made the transforming parts out of metal, and stress tested it like IKEA furniture, our toys would cost more, but they'd be fun to play with even for kids. After the yammie 1/60 ver 2 shoulder fiasco, I am more careful around these high end figures.

  15. Guess I'll have to collect the grey goggles 1j dx gbp then. That'll be 4 versions of the GBP for my collection.
  16. That’s what I thought when Bandai announced first run exclusive stand. I thought they’d have a regular release without the stand. They also did it on the shfiguarts vader.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Why doesn't Bandai or other companies use metal parts for all the transforming parts/fragile parts so they don't break and can take the weight? Other than the cost of the metal?
  18. They've got the grey goggles GBP for HMR and arcadia. Bandai could sell the armor parts stand alone, like the fast packs for the dx line on the other chogokins. Do you guys think Bandai will sell it as a bundle? If they did, they could sell the missile effect parts separately, and milk our money.
  19. The Hmr 1j was a shelf warmer probably cuz it was already issued before in the HM line, and also 1j kicked off the Hmr line as part of the gbp bundle. Also there were other valks issued before the issue of the 1j, so collectors were probably burnt out on another 1j. Plus peeps didn’t like the blue canopy on the 1j. Bandai didn’t follow the same roster as the Hmr though since the second dx is Max, so it’s unknown when and if they will reissue 1j. The 1j definitely wasn’t a shelf warmer, but Bandai doesn’t seem to increase production to respond to demand. If they did, lots of us would buy the dx and those regults.

Yeah, this is exactly the same problem on mine and on the previous Ostrich release. The left foot can do a 90 degree rear heel (it is perpendicular to the rear calf) while the front foot can go flush straight with the front shin. The right foot can only go as far as your photos. If you find my old posts on the HMR Ostrich, you'll see the comparison, it's about a 45 degree difference. The other valks in the HMR line don't seem to have this problem. I've used steady force, like on the stiff neck of the VF1D, and also heat from blow dryer and also the water which usually works on stiff joints but it didn't work on both the VF1D or the Ostrich right feet. I think the right legs are the same and have the same flaw.
  21. I'm not a fan of Voltron, did it get reissued quickly? Yeah, the GBP is the reason I have 2 VF1J v2. The VF1S is a no brainer, so it was weird that Max got produced first. I like the Cannon fodder 1a too, but the Max is rare - I don't have a Max 1a yet. Guess I'll be hunting around release date...
  22. Grey goggles ver? Oh yeah!
  23. Yeah I thought Bandai was going to issue a second batch vf1j without the stand like they did with the first release shfiguarts vader that came with a stand.
  24. I like that Bandai made the VF1J horns on ball joints rather than the typical rotating disc so you can pose the lasers on the head in weird poses. The laser could be on a retractible hinge.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Yeah, the missile launchers reminds me of a large Gundam denbromium (spelling?) from years ago.
