  1. I didn't know that the Bandai had 4 pegs; I was referring to the general aesthetic of the two brands.
  2. Looking at the comparison pics, there doesn't seem like a big difference in the SSP between the Yammie and Bandai, aside from comically large cannons on the Bandai, large tampos, and the Yammies have better internals.
  3. Yup, thanks for sharing your perspective as an engineer. And the guy I mentioned is probably not an engineer, but he's handy with small repairs and toys. You're right about costs and design, it's a major part of it. We as fans don't expect the whole toy to be made out of metal, or any metal. But it shouldn't be broken out of the box, or with careful handling. Especially when these things aren't cheap. I was so impressed with the easy preorder on this item, not like the preorder madness of DX chogokin. The previous releases weren't perfect with minor issues but were pretty good for most to want to collect the entire set. This breaking part is now putting a downer on collecting these toys.
  4. I take your point @sqidd. But I think he meant that breaking part should have been metal, since Sentinel thought it was important for both adjacent parts to be metal, that little extra cost could save a class action suit or more likely a bad reputation.
  5. Someone who works in machining told me that metal parts go with metal parts, and plastic parts with plastic parts. Since the part is a moving part that is expected to carry the weight of the hydraulics, the metal part above it, and is a transforming part where stress is expected, Sentinel should have used metal. Still unhappy about the part on my Yellow, as well as HLJ's ignoring the problem.

  8. Yup. Other luxury businesses have customer satisfaction because they know that you can go to competition if after sales service sucks. So is it safe to assume that NY is an exception, that not all Japanese businesses will ban you for complaining to Paypal over a defective toy? ha ha Kidding aside, I haven't had issues with HS service as I got cart jacked before I could buy the toys.
  9. @DYRL VF-1S, so asking again, HS didn't ban you after going to Paypal I got this message from NY even though I'm banned I'm one of their banned customers for complaining to Paypal and they still spam me nice
  10. Yup, Bandai feels solid. But I'm not sure about the plastic connector on the swing bar separator, it might be loose over time. Yamato both 1/48 and 1/60 v2 (other than those with shoulder issues) have lasted over a decade, mine are still in good shape. Also my Bandai arms in fighter mode don't lock into place without a lot of finagling, but the yammies are solid. That 1/35 has interesting connectors for the legs to the hips, the 1/48 does not look like that. Those lines on the chest are on the HMR line. this

    Bandai DX VF-31

As @crackpot mentioned, Hot Toys. Also, Volks does kits >$300 USD on this type of threshold schedule. Some custom Gundam companies also do runs like this. These companies were doing this a decade before fund me.

    Bandai DX VF-31

This. I've posted about other companies that do this. They leave the preorder open for many months, and produce whenever set thresholds are met, so they stagger their production. No overproduction. No shelf warmers. For high end stuff. No preorder madness nor scalping with direct orders.
  14. I like the ground Or flight crew that the yammie destroids had in addition to the pilot.
  15. GIJoe had storage in the working trunk doors and the shovels on the jeep attach to the side of the jeep. GIJoe didn't use the engine space to store accessories, when GIJoe showed off an engine, it wasn't "empty". Bandai seems undecided like they wanted to show off the engine, but didn't finish it. If Bandai wanted it for storage, they should have left it empty, and added pegs so the parts don't roll around. The Mospeada Beagle ride armor had all the accessories (helmet guns hands) stored in the display stand. They should all do that. That'd be an expensive set. Bandai could have released the 1S with the SSP, but sold it separately, if that's their business model, to let customers pick and choose what they want to buy, or nickel and dime them on missiles. Arcadia sold it as a set, so maybe.
  16. @sqidd wow. Mine isn't broken yet, but a few here have broken parts who might try your suggestion.
  17. @jeniusornome I think you're right, it looks like a large pin that isn't removable without breakage. The pin on the other side looks like it could be removed with a really tiny pin and hammer, but it might also break. Shucks. I really like Yellow but I don't wanna be stuck with a toy with stress mark that is very probably going to break.
  18. Let me know if you get it working. Mine is in the mail and it better not be broken like the other one. But if it is, I'll have to do a return too.
  19. Yeah. I haven't bought it yet because I don't really like the weird empty engine. Also got to buy a 1S Would it be non canon to put it on my Max. I like displaying my Yammies with the covers off because the missile launcher is so plain, and is available on cheaper products like model kits, but the intricate detail on the 1/48 size is like the big engine on a hog bike. Like another said, it's for swapping the logos. But then Bandai could have still put an entire engine since the swapping slot takes little space. It looks weird that there's that empty space. Bandai either should have did it like Yammie, or just left it empty and charged less money. The swapping logo is a minor detail, but the inclusion of the engine and missiles makes the product a high end quality product. Now it's just an accessory to a high end product (the DX).
  20. Looks like it would need some specific tools. Like @Perxion photos, there is a round headed screw/nail that holds it to the chest/crotch piece that doesn't pop out, and being flat, doesn't take a philips screwdriver, etc. That cracked plastic piece connects to the metal arms that hold the guantlets, and the connector looks like a small pin. Delicate looking pieces. Some modellers might try, but taking it apart might be hard putting it back together.
  21. So did anyone take up the broken parts with Sentinel? Did they respond?
  22. Did HS ban you?
  23. I didn't get either but I got a Max at preorder. it was 18000 Yen plus shipping converted at the current exchange rate. The rate changes so I try not to pay up front if I think the exchange will be better closer to release date. Some pay for faster shipping and insurance so about 4000 Yen, but others pay for cheapest shipping that takes month or more and no insurance. For such an expensive toy that is hard to replace, I'd suggest the extra shipping. Around $200 USD or $260 Cdn. Some stores only accept pay first, and also expensive shipping only or jack up the shipping. The 1J is really expensive now and rare, and the 1S there's stock but is also expensive. Dunno if Bandai will reissue it. 1S in yellow is possible later but we haven't seen one displayed. They showed off the squadron from the movie so the next few releases are probably from the movie. They might be easier to buy since Max was scalped but at a small premium. You check out the Arcadia/Yammie threads? Some of the 1/60 v2 go on sale and good deals for a similar product ( the dx takes a lot of the same design) for cheaper including the SSP, or even the HMR line. But most think the DX is the best.
  24. Yeah. The SSP people thought they had lots of time, because it's a TWE but it sold out within hours. That's better than the valks, which sold out in seconds.
  25. Nice pic. Mine had the stress mark and thinning out of the box. The first time I rotated it, the stress mark was there, even before attaching it to the connecting point and the arm.
