    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

They've been selling on YJ for 28000-30000 yen, and with the current exchange rate comes out to about $215, then add in intra-japan shipping for $10 and international for $30ish and you are looking at $250ish to your door Amazon US was $208, but now $218 with free shipping, but you'll need to add in sales tax, and a March delivery date So as of today its pretty much the same in price, but on YJ you can get it in a couple weeks vs waiting Not sure why the releases for the US are always a few months behind, but they are consistent in this process. I'd love to see a simultaneous event in the future.

    1/55's revisited

Nice box variant collection!! Your patience led to some great quality examples. For the casual toy surfers, its all about the box's head laser cutouts and the feet. There are 4 'variants' throughout the VF-1J production.
  3. Imai 1/72 Fixed mode fighter kit. Still can't believe this was never offered. I swear there is a mocked up one in the Imai commercial. Only way to get fighter mode was the Variable kit. And a 1/72 Phalanx...like WHY not. Lastly some Nichimo Queads and Nousgadeul Gers...they would have been a decent size. They were cancelled for more valkyries, but did show up on a 'coming next' list in the beginning. We saw the Imai 1/72 Super O prototype...but they lost the Macross license and it never came out.
  4. Yes-please share pics! I have this one, and a 'neutered' one where they removed all the fireworks for International Shipping, so packaging only. Oh well

Udon's page has shown 'sold out' for at least 2 months, when I first checked it there. Suspect they haven't updated it. I see no immediate difference between the comic con one/early bird specials that they sold at otakon vs the one shown there on ebay. Sure hope something is different. If not maybe there was a new agreement for the release between the publisher/licensor, or perhaps there never was an issue and its just weird production problems/internet drama/rumors. I'd love to see the index

ok...its the 12th...where is the reveal of the "allegedly" content-adjusted book
  9. Nice ladders, and wow-nice shot!!! How many other custom accessories have you created there?
  10. Wow-great information as always! I did not know in the backstory they had discovered battle pods on the ship
  11. This pic got me thinking When ASS-1 crashed we figured out we were going to potentially fighting giants, hence the VF-1 design for Battroid mode (which is still a really neat reason to have transforming jets after all these years) But did anyone at the time think 'So....we've matched the giants size for size with our VF-1, but what if THEY use mecha themselves? Seeing the size difference of the battroid vs the regult or quead or glaug is crazy enough, but what if they (Zentradi) used machinery proportionally sized to them? i.e. imagine if this F-14 was Zentradi sized and what they piloted, we'd be in an awful lot of trouble with our puny little VF-1s 😛 I wonder if Kawamori/Miyatake dialed back the Zentradi mech sizes because the UN forces would be extremely overwhelmed...plus I guess they'd be hard to animate in the same cel frame. The Zentradi mecha seem to be quite compact and space efficient

Ok-where is the deeper breakdown of those 2 valks? They look amazing. How many customized areas can we identify?

    1/55's revisited

I picked up a couple of those loose DX 1/48 VF-1 Gunpods on Yahoo Japan, to see if they could be used with some of my loose 1/55s that don't have gunpods I think it looks ok. Its not perfect, but in a pinch it could work on the shelf Size comparison Original. Do I dare criticize the Legacy 1/55 crowd and say it might be a tad undersized? Blasphemy!! The Real Big Kahuna...ok this angle is LONG This works better!
  16. does a promotional poster count? (Game boy for size there on the right)

Soooooo no early release info yet on the postponed Tenjin book? https://www.amazon.com/Hidetaka-Tenjins-Artistry-Macross-frontier/dp/1772942502 Dec 12th is next week. Usually those things ship out a little bit early
  20. Sorry-I'll take this over to the 1/55 thread and not de-rail the 1/48 DX thread if I have further questions! All good for now
  21. I'll be the first to admit I am a model kit guy-only dabble in the toys, but could you be more specific about "specific box packaging" This looks like a generic 1/55 Bandai Strike Valkyrie box, please tell me what is different so I can learn, and we can document the info in the 1/55 thread? I know the boxes came in Smooth and Textured cardboard. We've seen Big West/Tatsunoku stickered variants. We've seen Italian versions with half the box cut away, and regularly sized ones from France or Taiwan with different text or missing Bandai logos. What indicators are there that this is considered a possible Vendor Sample? I see it has the back plate Bandai stickers covering the Takatoku logos, but that all early versions. Is the box 80% of the size of a normal strike valk or something extraordinary like that? I feel like an idiot asking again, but I'm asking again LOL The Strikes were initially released in 1984, with 90,000 shipped by the end that year. https://tamashiiweb.com/t_kokkaku/64/?wovn=en#
