@tekering nice progress, awesome huge F-14. is it RC? @electric indigo I wanna see a video of the prop moving. Some work in progress pics. F-14 decals… love applying 0.5mm decals… not. Some masking and airbrushing on the VF-171

Yeah! Well, the fine molds did it better, but that one is still unbuild in my basement. Loved the GWH one though. It felt rewarding to build it. And thanks - I tried to emulate the Macross Zero look onto this one. Edit: rinse and repeat …

Nice stuff @tekering @Big s yeah… I feel you. decal time. For the Macross F-14 I got „cheap“ Chinese decal reprints. Cheap not because they where cheap, but because of the print quality. I am only going to use the macross related decals, the rest will be done by GWH decals. I drenched those decals in mark setter strong over and over again. It really took a lot of time for them to properly sink into the panel lines. Really sturdy and thick transfer foil. I might wanna go the sand down approach… but… maybe not. then while apply the decals on the vertical stabiliser, I notice I forgot to airbrush the black stuff behind the wings on the fuselage. Will do that tomorrow. The decals ate too much of my concentration. edit: picture with better light and less blurrrrrrrrr

I went into the basement today and looked at my never ending stash and had that tingling. That tingling you get in your fingers when you want to build something. So I touched the boxes and was like … wait a second. I went upstairs without a box and checked the top of my shelf. There are still three kits that are in the works and need finishing. “okay mister; no new kits until theseいう are done.“ is what I said to myself. So yeah, these still need finishing. I can get an easy win with the F-14. It only needs decals and then done. I decided to not add ordnance. I`d never be fully satisfied no matter how I do it. The VF-171 needs masking and then airbrushing metal and black highlights. After that decals. The VF-1 needs priming. So I did that. Primed most of the VF-1 parts today. I will be adding decals to the F-14 later today. Wish me luck Edit: I just saw a weird brown box saying „RC Boat“. I was intrigued … looked inside. Another forgotten project discovered again. Well … I obviously get distracted easily. Another one to finish then.

Fyi everyone: this thread reached page 500. LET THE CELEBRATIONS COMMENCE!

@pengbuzz haha, no worries. Nobody is perfect. btw: it has been done. Lo and behold! Really clunky christmas tree ornaments I tell you...

@wm cheng yeah right? Crazy how this turns out. Btw: the j-20s looks awesome! @Papa Rat great build! Fiddled around this morning. Almost done.

On the plamax VF-1, most of them are hidden. The ones that do show are sanded down. It is also important to use glue which is bonding surfaces by dissolving them and then joining them. Also - clamps. Use clamps to make sure stuff is sticking together until the glue dries. Then I use sanding papers and sponges. 180/320 600 1500 In that order. It won’t go away fully, but most of it.

@pengbuzz awesome! Seems you got a few nice friends. about the VF-1. Only some decals left and venier thrusters here and there. Provide done tomorrow.

Actually, this kit has two pilots. DYRL and TV versions. so, for the changed parts. here the original one (one big black canopy piece - step 4). and here, the new version where they cut off a piece of the canopy, just to have this little piece molded in white. (Step 10) I decided to use the water slide decals. They are already really soft, so mark setter almost melted them away. I‘ll probably peel this one off and use one from the leftover sheet of the other vf-1 i just build. But everything else comes along quite well. It’s a bit more pieces and stuff to panel line. Few more highlights to set. But hey, it‘ll be fine.

Hard to show, but the instructions might give a hint. I‘ll post that later. here some progress pictures. Remember: no priming, airbrushing and so on. Only bare plastics and highlights with permanent markers.
