Macross World Convention 2013 Announces Special Guest Hidetaka Tenjin

Big news everyone… Macross World Convention is thrilled to announce that Hidetaka Tenjin will be a special guest for this year’s convention.

Tenjin, as he is known to us Macross fans, is the artist that has provided art for many Macross products that has been released in recent years including all Hasegawa Macross model kits, the latest Macross blu-ray box sets, and most recently Arcadia’s limited edition 1/60 30th Anniversario VF-1J toy. He also created the scheme for that special valkyrie. He has also helped in designing and implementing the 1:1 scale VF-25 and VF-1S being displayed in Japan. Aside from Macross, he has provided designs for Gundam and Space Battleship Yamato.

Hidetaka Tenjin has agreed to do a panel that will include a Q&A session, autographs and a special dinner with a few lucky fans (details for each event will be announced soon).

Macross World Convention will be held at the Ken Miller Auditorium in Torrance, California on October 5th, 2013.

Thank you for your interest in registering for MW Con 2013! We are excited to open registration to the public over the next 2 months as we prepare for MW Con 2013. As more events and guests are confirmed, please continue to check our MW Con 2013 Thread on the MW Forums.

This year’s convention will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 (12pm-7pm) at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center – Ken Miller Auditorium in Torrance, California. Please join us for our 12th annual MW Con by following the simple registration steps below.

MW Con 2013 Registration Process

  • Step 1: Complete online registration form below and submit prior to 10/03/2013
  • Step 2: Select desired “Registration Level” on the form and follow instructions to submit payment via PayPal prior to con
  • Step 3: Consider making an additional donation to MacrossWorld Convention by clicking the “Donate Now” button via PayPal at the bottom of the page

Onsite registration and payment will be accepted, however each registration level will increase by $5 if paid the day of. For additional questions regarding MacrossWorld Convention 2013, please email us at MacrossWorldConvention@gmail.com.

Shinichiro Watanabe To Attend Otakon 2013

Shinichiro Watanabe will be attending Otakon® this year. Macross® fans will recognize Mr. Watanabe as the co-director of Macross Plus. He was also the director of Cowboy Bebop®, Samurai Champloo®, Kids on the Slope, and involved with several other anime projects, such as Mobile Suit Gundam® 0083: Stardust Memory and Lupin the 3rd®: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.

In addition to Yoko Kanno (announced earlier), Shinichiro Watanabe will be the second Macross related guest to attend this year’s Otakon. If you’re a Macross fan and live anywhere near Otakon, this year’s convention cannot be missed. Otakon 2013 will be held in Baltimore, Maryland and take place from August 9 through August 11. MACROSS THE MUSEUM is OPEN!

MACROSS THE MUSEUM opened today at the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum in Hyogo Prefecture.

Over the past couple of days photos have started to leak out from various people involved with the project. The following gallery comes from a variety of sources, including artist Hidetaka Tenjin, and Mai Enoki.

Location: Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum, Hyogo Prefecture.

Cost: 1300 yen (special ticket with art card), 700 yen (adults), 400 yen (middle-school students), 100 yen (elementary students).

Two pieces of new art have been announced that will be used on merchandise at the upcoming Macross the MUSEUM.

The first of these is the previously previewed cockpit illustration by Hidetaka Tenjin.

It will be available as a wallscroll (8190 yen), B2 poster (525 yen) and artcard (630 yen).

Yoko Kanno To Attend Otakon 2013

Otakon® has announced that Yoko Kanno will be attending this year’s convention as one of their guests. Yoko Kanno composed the unforgettable soundtracks for Macross® Plus and Macross Frontier, as well as the song “Angel Voice” for Macross Dynamite 7. Other musical works by her include Cowboy Bebop®, The Vision of Escaflowne®, and Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex®. Yoko Kanno will be holding a solo concert for Otakon’s attendees on August 11, 2013. The specifics of Ms. Kanno’s appearance are still being worked out by Otakon. Macross the Museum – 1:1 VF-1S Cockpit Planned

Macross the Museum

The Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum in Hyogo Prefecture will host a ‘MACROSS THE MUSEUM’ exhibit starting June 28th. Apart from several items that were displayed at other exhibits last year, such as the TV ending ‘Minmay Photo Album’, the centerpiece of the exhibit will be a ‘large scale’ VF-1S cockpit. 

The exhibit will also feature a display of how Valkyries transform, featuring thirty 1:60 Valks, costumes and microphone replicas of the various Macross divas, and themed-foods.
