I don’t know how to feel about that. Volume 40 of the manga seemed like a good end for the series. You could imagine that Guts and Casca lived happily ever after on that island while Griffith is off doing whatever.

But now with volume 41 you opened a whole new can of worms that somehow needs to continue.

Dang, only 54 years old too. RIP. I'm gonna have to check out the manga as I'm only familiar with the Berserk: The Golden Age Arc anime that is on Netflix.

At least it’s not the newer series. I do highly suggest the old anime series though
