Vahouth Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Hey, guys! About a year ago I bought a YF-21 from HLJ and haven't transformed (actually never opened) till recently, where I noticed that the cockpit's canopy is really loose and wouldn't stay open. Can anyone with a same problem give me some kind of suggestion or tip how to fix it? Your input will be greatly appreciated.
Scyla Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Ok so apparently you can pull the canopy out a bit (like an outward movement away from the body) and it will stay open. The deal is I have a VF-22S and the canopy on this Valkyrie won't stay open no matter what I try. And I certainly don't want do break my precious. Captain Max would be desperately disappointed. So I don't know if you have the standard problem with the canopy that some here on the board have or if you got a bum one like me. Try to move the canopy a bit and see if you can get it to stay open. Just be very cautious so you don't break anything.
Vahouth Posted November 15, 2013 Author Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) I already tried to pull the canopy out a bit, but still nothing. Once open it gets really wobbly and just drops. What problem other people have? I'm relativelly new here and I haven't noticed anything about it yet... Edited November 15, 2013 by Vahouth
close313 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Mine does the same too, so i guess it's a standard problem. There not enough friction to hold the cockpit up as far as i can tell, at least for mine.
Vahouth Posted November 15, 2013 Author Posted November 15, 2013 I don't know if it helps, but I took some pics for you guys to tell me if you see something wrong/missing. Sorry for the blur.

Reïvaj Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I used to have that same problem until I disassembled the whole canopy and modified something I can't remember right now.
Vahouth Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 So, anybody knows of a way to fix it?
MacrossJunkie Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Perhaps stick a little putty in the hinge?
David Hingtgen Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Generally---it will not stay open in a "normal" open-canopy position. It usually will if you open it to like 80 degrees open. (open it all the way up, then push it back in on the hinge just a little bit)
locidm Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Mine doesn't stay open no matter what I do. I wonder which version everybody got and maybe the production run is the difference in some staying open and others don't.
Vahouth Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 So, how common of a problem is this actually? Because I never heard of anyone complain about this. Then again I'm relativelly new here.
