Finally got around to buying a digital camera...

I'll take better pictures in the daytime obviously, but I just got back from Wal-Mart and couldn't wait to post my very first 'pic; and besides, everything looks better in the dark anyways...LOL

One automotive journalist desribed it as "what Darth Vader would drive." A one-off test bed for ultra high perf. tires, this beast does 0-60 in about 4.5s, tops out at 218mph, and does it tipping the scales at 5852lbs :blink: Has a very "40's era Batman serials" feel to it. What a monster!

God I hope not, there's enough Gen Lee clones out there as it is! Just 'cause it's a orange Charger doesnt mean it HAS to be a General Lee.

Is it possible to get yourself a NEW 1969 Camaro? Apparently, it is now. A company called CARS [Classic Auto Restoration Specialists, Inc.] is now producing "Camaro in a crate" component kits; or complete turnkey cars. A complete car will set you back about $40K, which pretty steep, for a Camaro. But their justification is that you're getting in essence a brand new car with all new sheetmetal and parts, not restored. They claim all parts are to factory spec or better. I kinda hope they do well; they have a coupe ver. planned for the future. Also in the works are supposedly: 67 Mustang fastback, 70 Cuda and Challenger [eventually].

Nice! I was wondering how long it would take the kit car industry to move up to full size classics. But 40K is a little steep even for a new car, especially when you consider that a new Mustang can be had for under $30K. Hopefully if this takes off we'll see prices drop when they start producing them in volume.

Need to correct errata: That 2 dr Charger I posted a pic of earlier was actually chopped by Zach Teal, who also posts to that Mustang Source msg board, NOT Doug Schramm. Just don't want to be responsible for credit being misplaced.

myk, I'm likin' that Charger. Nice to see an "equal opportunity" muscle car lover. I've never understood why some folks can get so intense in picking one make over another...

I don't see CARS selling a whole heck of a lot of those Camaros, considering the niche they're going after; but I hope they do get good numbers, Probably, they'll eventually hit about the same level as the current hi-boy hot rod market, I'd think. Powerplants for those cars will be alum. ZL-1 fuelie big blocks. I think they'll even have their own VINs so they won't be passed off as "original" 69s.

Revell has 1/25th scale kits of the USDM Integra Type R, Civic Si, and various others. There's an RSX kit coming sometime soon.

Fujimi makes 1/24th JDM Integra Type R (recycled mercilessly), and the latest gen JDM Integra, of course, also mercilessly recycled.

What I want is a kit of the last gen Honda Prelude, but no one's even considered it.

Oh yeah, I've seen the Horton rendition before. That one's caused quite a stir, too. But this one's definitely a different car. Front end treatment, wheel arches, roofline, C-pillars, rocker panels, rear beltline; there's just too much that's different. I think this one's been proven as another "I have a friend that works at X-Y-Z and is connected to A-B-C..." myth.

edit: my bad. It IS by K. Horton--but he's just edited a sketch originally by another artist: "We get our best idea of what the new-for-2007 Camaro will look like from the members of cheersandgears.com, a website of and for GM enthusiasts. This drawing by artist Chris Pauwels is said to be very close. Many members on the site have close connections to GM and give the rendering credence."

The only problem I have with the Camaro sketch is the fact that it exists at all. Wasn't GM in general (no pun intended) and Bob Lutz (sp) in particular vehemetly against "retro?" I suppose they could have changed their tune in the last year or so. I just recall hearing all kinds on anti-retro vitriol coming out of the GM camp in the days before the debut of the new 'Stang.

I don't think they're anti-retro--if anything, they're just 3-5 yrs behind the trends. When Plymouth intro'd the Prowler, it made waves [although, it was a learning experience for them, and they've gotten better w/successive models], as well as Ford's Thunderbird and VWs New Beetle. It took GM how long to catch the hint, get off their duffs and design/intro the SSR? The PT Cruiser has been a hit for some time now as well, and is due for a redesign/upgrade, and Chev's only just now getting their competing model [can't remember the name] near introduction. They make great trucks, but I wouldn't take one of their cars unless you gave it to me...

Well, I just went Turncoat. I've driven F-bodies now, well, since I got my license. My stepfather's a Pontiac guy... and I buy...

... a 96 GT. The woman who owned it prior took impeccible care of the vehicle, too. I swear, the interior still smells new. I've checked it out mechanically and had it checked out mechanically. It's pretty damn good for a 9 year old car (50K miles.) Oh, and I think it's the first stock Mustang of that year I've ever seen.

A 96 GT...? Oh I'm so sorry to hear that. You couldn't have picked a worse year, engine wise. Get some P.I. heads and cams into that thing, along with some decent gears pronto. Unless you want to have worn out 5.0Ls with over 200K miles run circles around you.

Seriously, the 96-98 4.6 SOHC is a dog in stock form. <_<

Nothing glamourous, to be sure. I got these cars through lots of good 'ol fashioned hard, hourly employee work.

My first car was the 'Charger-back in '94 a bunch of us from high school slaved away at a McDonald's. They all bought into the booming import scene, while I happened to catch a late night showing of "Bullit" and decided that was how I wanted to go.

In '98, after driving around in an older car for 4 years and being the laughing stock of the dominating import scene in San Diego I just got sick of it and convinced my mom to co-sign a loan for my then-new Mustang.

Six months after that, my mom died and I freaked out and bought the Camaro-I spent the next few years paying everyone off.

I love these things more than life itself but they're not getting any younger, or cheaper to fix. It may be time to move up to something like this:

As a big Toyota fan I'd really recommend against buying an Echo. Solid cars, usual Toyota reliability and all that... but the interior sucks, it drives like ass and is just an uncomfortable car to be in. The Scion xB and xA are essentially the same, but much niver all around.

well, I'm going opposite direction with my car....the brick.

I've started a new pizza delivery job about 3 weeks ago, but my car hasnt started to eat too heavily on my pay (yet). I found a POS car just like the one I had when I was 16, but this ones a stick (thank god), and for $200 it's not too bad, I just hafta try to save the money for it.

Anyhow, back on topic (somewhat), since my car only gets 13 MPG (combined), I figured I'm not going to lose any more MPG by going with a bigger/more powerful engine, heck, It might gain me a couple MPG. I'm gonna shoot for the 400-500 RWHP range, and go slaughter me some Mustangs and Imports.

Yea, and I have to drive 1100 miles from Austin to Gainesville next week. 17/24 MPG just isn't looking too exciting, especially considering how overloaded my car's going to be.

gas has to come down sometime soon, right?

of course they could always run cars on alcohol, it would be a lot more cheaper, give us more MPG, and burn cleaner! B))

Ah, looks pretty nice, although I still think the V6 front looks a bit "empty"... maybe there's something aftermarket to take care of that, without making it look like a wannabe GT? How's the car been driving / running, by the way? I'd be careful with those Pirellis, also, I had 'em on my WRX and damn do they burn up fast...

Speaking of which, my WRX is now down with a blown motor! Evidently, one of the rods was flawed, and under stress, it blew up in the motor and trashed my block! Dealer's pretty sure warranty will cover it, if not, I'm taking it to Easy Street Motorsports and my car will be an STi in a week or to.... :ph34r:

While I'm considering adding a pair of fog lights, I'm happy with the current front end. The Mustang runs great, though I have to get used to spending more $$$ on gas (the Civic I used to drive averaged at 47 mpg). Still, 26 mpg is not bad for a V6.

Another plus is the fact that insurance on my Mustang actually costs less than my old Civic. Right now, I'm only paying $137/mo. As for the Pirellis, at least they're cheap ($118/ea. at TireRack.com).
