  1. It's been reported that Columbia Pictures will do a live-action/CG adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog, with a darker, edgier tone for older audiences. Sega will be producing it alongside Original Film (The Fast and the Furious series). I don't know about you guys, but if this version of Sonic does not have an addiction to chili dogs and is not voiced by Jaleel White, it's not gonna work. 5. Why can't Hollywood make a Predator movie like this? Is it too much to ask? And to believe this was done on a $500 budget...
  6. Hmmmm. "Based on the graphic novel". "From the producers of Underworld". Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy. I'm sure that we will get the usual barrage of "No", "Not interested", etc from the haters who are going to hate, but there is enough here to get me interested. It's gotta be better than 1994's "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein", so we will just have to wait and see. Anybody read the graphic novel?

  9. Gundam Live Action Movie In The Works? "Gundam" live action movie in works? It seems so! As the Legacy Effects, the visual effects team behind movies such as "Pacific Rim" "Real Steel" "Iron Man" "The Avengers" "Avatar" and most recently "X-Men: Days of Future Past" has partnered with "Gundam" creator Yoshiyuki Tomino to make Hollywood movies based on Japanese manga and anime! According to sankakucomplex.com, "Gundam" creator Yoshiyuki Tomino will hold a press conference on January 21 to announce his partnership with Legacy Effects to "bring Hollywood movies based on Japanese anime and manga titles to a global audience". One of these titles is said to be "Gundam" though it is not sure what part of the huge "Gundam" series Legacy Effects and Yoshiyuki Tomino will make a Hollywood adaptation off. Fans of the anime are weary though due to fact that Hollywood has made adaptations of Japanese made video games/anime/manga and the results were not impressive, pointing to bombs such as "Dragonball Evolution", the live action "Tekken" and "King of Fighters" movies. However some fans are quick to note that Yoshiyuki Tomino is part of the creative process and some of story that made "Gundam" popular will still be intact. They even praised that with the help of the big budget and the superior visual effects that Hollywood can provide means that the "Gundam" movie may very well be of quality. For those who don't know the "Gundam" series is one of the biggest-if not the biggest-mecha manga/anime series in Japan. The "Gundam" franchise earned over 5 billion yen in revenue based on the sales of the toys, manga, tv shows and movies. This is not the first time a "Gundam" live action movie was made. A "Gundam" live action movie called "G-Savior" was released in 2000. It got bad reviews as it scored a 4.3 on the website IMDB. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131360-Gundam-Creator-Tomino-Teams-With-Hollywoods-Legacy-Effects http://collider.com/gundam-movie-adaptation/

  12. Latino Review reports that Marvel is planning to bring Doctor Strange to the big screen and is in talks with Johnny Depp to play the neurosurgeon-turned-sorcerer. EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Eyeing Johnny Depp for Doctor Strange
  13. Thanks to Area Seven's Police Story 2013 thread and the Jackie Chan movie collection I got for Christmas, I thought it was time for a thread for it. So the movies I got in the collection are as follows: Dragon Lord, Twin Dragons, Project A and Project A2, Armour of God, AoG 2: Operation Condor, Police Story III: Supercop and The Accidental Spy. Most of these I've seen before, albeit not in a long time and three of them, Dragon Lord, Twin Dragons and Project A2. Dragon Lord was interesting inasmuch as its one of Jackie's early movies. There's lots of classic Jackie goofiness but I can't help but feel that most of what happens in the movie doesn't have much to do with the actual plot. Note: I read about this movie long before I saw it in Jackie's autobiography where it says the movie starts off with Jackie sending a note to his girlfriend via balloon. Someone must have mistranslated because that scene doesn't happen until fully half-way through the movie and it was a kite and said girl wasn't even really Jackie's girlfriend. Go figure, eh? Twin Dragons was much more interesting. Jackie plays a dual role as twin brothers separated at birth. One is a world-famous pianist and conductor and the other is a street punk. Hijinx ensue and the two are mistaken for each other. Project A: A classic Jackie movie and a well put together period piece with one of his most well known stunts. I really have to wonder how much that clock tower fall hurt, including that he had to do it more than once. Armour of God: The movie that almost killed Jackie with a stunt that wasn't much of a stunt at all. If you pay attention, you'll see that early in the movie Jackie has short hair and then later has much longer hair... to hide the surgical scars. Operation Condor: Mistankenly labeled here in the States as the first movie in the AoG duology, Condor has to be one of my fav Jackie movies. My fav moment has to be in the wind tunnel when he yells "Superman!" and flies toward one of the bad guys and punches him. Haven't seen the others just yet.
  14. " In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes, a government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8FD5bviZ_Y Elysium @IMDb Welcome to Elysium

  16. Just when you think they've exhausted every cliche in a zombie movie, they decide to throw robots into the mix. Robots that look like a Zaku from Gundam and a Cylon had babies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eVB-9Mgsx38 They also seem to be ripping off part of the plot to Resident Evil 5.
  17. Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons (西遊·降魔篇) is the latest film adaptation of the classic Chinese novel by Wu Cheng'en, directed by Stephen Chow (Shaolin Soccer, Kung-Fu Hustle) and Derek Kok. The film premiered on February 7-8, 2013 in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan to rave reviews while breaking box office records in those regions. It is set for a limited U.S. release on March 2014.
  18. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Don Jon, Jim Hawkins in Treasure Planet) recently posted this on his Twitter: "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm incredibly honored to be working with David Goyer, Warner Bros, and @neilhimself on SANDMAN. #Prelude" - @HitRECordJoe, 9:51 AM - 17 Dec 13 "Just to clarify, folks. 19. The Pirate Fairy is Disney's next animated film, set for release on April 1, 2014. It is the fifth installment in DisneyToons Studios Tinker Bell series, with Mae Whitman (Katara in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Roxy Richter in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) reprising her role as Tinker Bell. Also featured are the voices of Christina Hendricks (Blanche in Drive, Lois Lane in All-Star Superman) as Zarina and Tom Hiddleston (Loki in Thor and The Avengers) as a young Captain Hook. So yeah, Loki's in it, which probably means it's gonna be really good. Official Site
