  1. Well, given that you even you even said that there wasn't much going on with this story I figured I'd support your translation work (because i do appreciate it) but agree with you that certain things probably don't need full translations. I didn't know you were going after every story there is for your own personal growth as well. If you want it all done, go for it, I'll read it. I just felt in the grand scheme of Macross it wasn't really important.

I'll add that your use of language is far superior to many fan translated pieces I've read, I finished this story only because I appreciated how easily it read.

As for your comment Renato, I'll say it right to his face.

You didn't answer my question, though. What about "The Lost Two Years"? Is that worth it?

It's not helpful for you to tell me AFTER the translation is finished. Tell me before, or don't tell me at all.

  2. Here's the thing, I'm not a model builder. But I'm willing to try for an honest-to-god sdfm version of the SDF-1 because it keeps being short changed for an (imo) inferior DYRL version. When I heard a fantastic model company like Hasegawa was finally making one I was excited. Instead I find it's just a bastardized DYRL SDF-1 and that isn't what I want.

I guess that's the problem. You don't customize at all. VF-2SS not to your liking? COMPLAIN. VF-0A colors not to your liking? COMPLAIN. Hasegawa SDF-1 not to your your liking? COMPLAIN.

Learn some customization tricks, and you'll stop complaining.

  3. Unfortunately, it's not a next chapter... It's a completely different story.

I'm guessing that the long-term space experiment was what led Global to down the Anti-Unification gang in the Misa novel...? I'm not sure.

EDIT: and, it's at least four times longer than this story... I hope you still like Macross in 2018...

  4. So... it took me WAAAAAY longer than I was expecting, but finally, I'm done with "The Plundering Fleet," one of the stories from Macross Perfect Memory. MW member Roycommi did a version about a decade ago, but (no offense intended) his version was so abridged that it became nearly incomprehensible. However, even the full version suffers from a weak ending...

Whatever. It's written by Kenichi Matsuzaki, who was the script editor for SDFM, and wrote some of the most important episodes (including the first two). He also invented Minovsky Particles.

Anyway, enjoy it before it becomes Robotech RPG fodder!

  5. The sight of the VF-1 on the runaway taking off always made a bad day good. and the song at the end of macross really had a melancholy affect on me... macross always has had that emotional hold on me up to this day ....

Around that time too bulletin boards and yahoo ruled the web. The first things i tried to search for were 'macross' 'valkyrie' etc etc. Any sighting would drive me crazy! i so elated and would make sure i saved that image on my floppy thinking i got a hard to find treasure..heh...

However that first anime pic always goes to my crush at the time nausicca...

Heh, I remember finding the Macross Comlendium in the mid-to-late '90s and printing the whole timeline out...
  6. I think Tenjin is illustrating the Macross from lineart and film, not the model kit. Very rarely does box-art recreate the model kit (Except the old Monogram and Revell kits that just a giant photo of the finished model).

No, he does draw the model kit, sometimes having to go back and change parts of the picture if Hasegawa changes something about the kit.

Look at the Angelbirds box art, for example. Even though it's a TV series Valk, it has a movie-style pilot in the cockpit, because that's all Hasegawa made at that time.
