Well, I'm sure pumped!!
-
I just want to be sure I have the time correct, that's 11 PM est tomorrow?
Yes.
-
The next one?
I'm working on a couple of things right now... The Misa drama album will probably be the next one finished.
-
Ah, I stand corrected, then. Dunno why I thought it was earlier...
-
My pleasure (mostly... "The Plundering Fleet" was really annoying...)! I hope you all enjoy the stories!
I've already started working on the next one.

Just stumbled to this accidentally over YouTube. Hearing her story about becoming Minmay and how close she is to Hikaru's voice actor Arihiro Hase. One of the comment said this was shot probably during 2006(?). Anyone can confirm.
IIRC, it was one of the bonuses on the ADV set, so 2004.

Well, after four years (most of it spent procrastinating on "The Plundering Fleet"), I finally finished the complete translation of "Macross Outside Story from Perfect Memory. If you have the book, you probably know that it's in three parts: the timeline, "The Plundering Fleet," and "The Lost Two Years."
The timeline is the embryo for every other Macross timeline, including the much more amplified ones in the Compendium and in Macross Chronicle, so it probably wasn't really necessary to translate it, but I think it's interesting to look back and see how they approached it back in 1983. Plus, it was easy to translate. My biggest hurdle with it was figuring out the formatting.
"The Plundering Fleet," I've already uploaded and discussed, but it's worth pointing out that the version here has some revisions based on feedback from others, notably Hannou Heiki, who's been a great "close reader."
"The Lost Two Years" is simultaneously the most interesting and most annoying story for me. It was relatively easy to translate (especially after the nightmarish syntax of "The Plundering Fleet") and the first half is really cool... And then the second half nearly loses me. Which I guess is to be expected. While I think the WORLD of the post-war episodes is great, it always bugged me how the love story, seemingly closed after Episode 27, got cracked back open again... and the second chapter goes into detail about that. There's still a lot to like in it, but Hikaru, Misa, and Minmay (ESPECIALLY Minmay) in it don't seem to fit my idea of what they were like in the series.
Still... MELTRANDI WRESTLING!!

Anyway, everyone knows that the Macross 7 Trash drama album is the best Macross ever.
-
Would anyone know which art book this one came from?
It looks like one of the pre-Macross "Genocidas" gerwalks...

To add to what Azrael said - if it's released internationally (meaning outside of Japan), one has to get the trademark from Harmony Gold (not sure about how many TM's they've put in place outside of the US, though).
Unfortunately, Tatsunoko's (and thus, Harmony Gold's) reach extends to "international rights," meaning everywhere except Japan.

This is in spite of Syd Mead having several other more "traditional" looking gundam designs that were rejected by Tomino in his portfolio.
Maybe the people I've talked to are misinformed, I'm not sure, but I've been told that Rocketnews kind of "amplified" the quotes.
-
This was seriously one of the best cons I've ever been to in my life. The panels were fascinating, and Run Sasaki giving the bouquet to Mari was a really touching and adorable moment.
-
Yep and Tomino played blame the gaijin despite having massive oversight of Syd Mead and final approval when the design wasn't well received initially by Japanese fans.
No, he didn't. He just mused that model kit sales might have been better if he had chosen a a design that was more traditionally Gundam-ish.

Speaking of, i watched it recently. (original version)
And honestly i found it to be quite a decent show. The only real problems are the music, who's terrible, and the poor use they make sometimes of humor, often killing the mood of some moments who are supposed to be intense. Like when they rescue Bowie for example, Jeanne talking like a dumbass and winking in the silliest way and at the silliest moments don't exactly help taking the situation seriously. I'm all for humor, but the timing is important.
But the rest is not bad at all. Even the designs of vehicles and stuff, i like it fine. The spartas is a pretty cool tank, most of the Zor stuff is good and even the personal armors, the only questionable thing about that is sometimes the helmet. Well, Jeanne's helmet is really over the top but the others are cool enough.
It's no Macross and it certainly never reach the quality of a Zeta Gundam but it's watchable. But it totally could be remade into something great. You add some decent music, you tune down the silly, you edit a bit some designs and you have yourself a quite interesting alien invasion story with good characters. And the end is great, love sometimes a no happy ending.
It was a mostly happy ending... I mean, Seifriet died, but he was kind of a tool, anyway.
-
Because there are only so many ways you can tweak the original Gundam's design...?
-
I hope she's enjoying her flight!
-
Okay, I'm into the second chapter, and um.... I no longer like this story.
I mean, I'll FINISH it, but... Enh...
-
One day they will release the best DYRL edition. I refuse to play the double, triple, dip game.
No, they won't. Because they're never release it in mono again.
-
It's from the blu-ray, yeah... But I'm not sure if the regular BD has it, or just the limited edition.
-
Yokosuka's not THAT far from Tokyo...
-
Sounds mysterious! What're you guys up to? =)
I think you just commented on it...?
