  8. For starters, this is not a fair vote, if i could i would vote for (almost)every episode and character. But since i can't and had to choose, here it is: -For Mister Macross ------ OZMA LEE ---- Come on, the guy is the king of cool, a Fire Bomber Fan and pilots an armored Vf- 25. Alto and Michael are close runner-ups. -For Miss Macross ------ KLAN KLEIN ---- The whole genetic disorder thing was a fresh twist and her tragic love story made me love her from the start. Sheryl and Cathy come next. Favorite episodes (this was a tough one): Ep. 2 - HARD CHASE: The pursuit scene in the beginning is what got me into this series in the first place. Ep. 14 - MOTHER'S LULLABY: Mecha Porn, anyone? (I know ep 7 is in the same cathegory but this one has more kick to it) Ep. 25 - YOUR SOUND: Do i really need to explain why i chose this one? MACROSS F ROCKED.
  9. As of this moment i am one happy SOB. I got the new figures (gashapon) by Bandai and got the whole set of 5. Odds are better than with the HGIF set where you got a set of 6 "eggs" and had 6 figures to get. Here you get 8 for 5 possible. I believed it were 6 but the "NYan-Nyan Musune" comes packed with Ranka's figure. They are very nice and roughly the same size as the HGIF. What throws me off is that they keep making variations of the same figure, here is Sheryl that comes in swimsuit either with or without jersey. It still beats the HGIF in that, at least the figure is actually in a slightly different pose instead of being just a repaint. Klan looks awesome, the outfit she wears is from episode 5 and is as "fan service" as they come but a spacesuit version would have been better. Maybe in future sets... Ranka is very nice in her Nyan-Nyan uniform and the mascot is a nice extra (I would personaly prefer a little Ai-kun, like the one in the 1/8 Banpresto figure). Alto is a step forward from his school uniform in the HGIF set, here he comes with the SMS uniform, looking cool and totaly bad-ass. I have the HGIF's 2nd set on pre-order but it's a shame it doesn't add as much as this one, the only new character in the 6 figures in that set will be Michael. You have an Alto, but he is again in school uniform and the fact they put him in a different pose (taken out of OP1, it seems) doesn't help. The Ranka and Sheryl set taken from the cover of single 4, Lion, is nice, but then there come the repaints, the same two figures with black and dark pink outfits. Enough Sheryls and Rankas, give us the support cast. Here's some set ideas: Set 3: Ozma, Michael and Luca in SMS uniform + variants in flightsuit Set 4: Alto in flightsuit, Brera in flightsuit, Pixie Squadron-Klan, Raramia and Nene- in flightsuit, Micron Klan in SMS Uniform Set 5:The 3 Macross Quarter bridge bunnies - Monica, Mina and Rama-, Captain Jeffrey Wilder, Bobby Margo and Canaria Berstein; Set 6: Katherine Glass, Pres. Glass, Leon, Grace, Richard Bilra, Elmo Kurinidaku Set 7: Luca in school uniform, Nene in school uniform, Micron Klan in some outfit, Alto in school Ex-Gear, Ai-Kun Set 8: Child Ranka and Brera, Ranshe Mei, Younger Grace in lab coat, Yasaburo Saotome, Alto's "Brother (don't remember his name) That would be an awesome collection. Of course they could do whole sets with just Sheryl and Ranka in several stage outfits but what i want is a well rounded set of characters. There's still a few minor characters that would be nice. I know i'm day-dreaming here but admit it, wouldn't you love to have these too? It would totally F*** my budget but i would love it. I'll take some pics from this new set and post them latter.
  10. #6 - BYE-BYE SHERYL 00:00 ~ 00:35 ----- Frontier 2059 (1) 01:15 ~ 01:53 ----- Motteke! (UNR) (Instrumental and jazzed up version of S! 9pm DBL) ------------------------OP1----------------------- 04:57 ~ 06:38 ----- Ranka's Fan Club (UNR) (For those keeping track, this is the scene that gave this cue its name) 07:58 ~ 08:21 ----- Alto's Theme ~ Music Box Version (UNR) (Just what it says, a music box-type version of "Alto's Theme") 08:37 ~ 10:13 ----- Vajra (1) 10:18 ~ 10:23 ----- Kabuki Eyecatch (UNR) 11:05 ~ 11:19 ----- Fighters Launch V.2 (UNR) (A slight variation of this theme, with more instruments and faster tempo) 12:49 ~ 14:05 ----- Big Boys (1) 14:52 ~ 15:29 ----- Sunken Battleship (UNR) (The cue is named after this scene, wich is where it was first used. The Yack Deculture Edition would be released later when Volume 1 DVD and Blu-Ray were published) 17:19 ~ 18:40 ----- Prologue F (2) 19:11 ~ 23:51 ----- Diamond Crevasse (1, Sg2, VC) (The song begins in the episode itself, with Sheryl on stage and continues to the end credits) ----------------------PREVIEW-------------------

  13. #3 - ON YOUR MARKS 00:00 ~ 00:41 ----- Prologue F (2) ------------------------OP1----------------------- 02:18 ~ 03:43 ----- The Target (1) 04:04 ~ 04:47 ----- Vajra Rampage (UNR) (One of the most noticed absenses from the OST, this hard edged track is used mostly in melee combat scenes with the Vajra) 06:47 ~ 07:30 ----- Embarrassment (UNR) (Tit-like dumplings in-a-box, pretty much explains it) 08:10 ~ 09:38 ----- Ai-kun (UNR) (Yep, the little green guy names this one, mostly because of what he does in episode 8, with this same theme) 11:23 ~ 12:17 ----- Shimes of Doom (UNR) (Heavy theme with a doomsday aura about it. Seeing Ozma all bloodied in this scene helped to name it, too) 12:07 ~ 12:14 ----- Eyecatch (UNR) 13:09 ~ 14:44 ----- Shimes of Doom (UNR) (Believe me, its the same track. Called it something else for most of my review until i discovered a larger segment in episode 23 and found this is part of it) 17:20 ~ 17:40 ----- Aimo (1) 17:42 ~ 18:50 ----- Aimo (1) (Instrumental only) 19:34 ~ 21:01 ----- Aimo (1) 21:46 ~ 22:20 ----- Private Army (1) ------------------------ED1----------------------- ----------------------PREVIEW-------------------

I find it different enough from the original to deserve a release) ------------------------ED1----------------------- ----------------------PREVIEW-------------------
  15. #1 - CLOSE ENCOUNTER Deculture Edition 00:55 ~ 02:38 ----- Frontier 2059 (1) 02:50 ~ 04:27 ----- High School Life (2) 05:21 ~ 05:43 ----- Sagittarius! 9pm, Don't Be Late (1, Sg2, VC) ((from this point on this track will be refered to as S!9pm DBL)) 05:58 ~ 06:44 ----- This Sky Is Too Low (UNR) (This seems to be an early version of "Take Off" wich replaces it in the following versions of this episode) -- : -- ~ -- : -- ----- a small part of "S!9pm DBL" overlaps the final seconds of the previous cue 07:15 ~ 07:32 ----- What 'bout My Star? Though it has Brera's harmonica mixed with it i won't post it as unreleased - i like Aimo but enough is enough, they threw us every variation of this except the kitchen sink edition) 24:02 ~ 24:17 ----- High School Life (serves as Preview BGM for all episodes, will only be refered when used in the episodes themselves) Yack Deculture Edition 01:10 ~ 02:52 ----- Frontier 2059 (1) 03:05 ~ 04:41 ----- High School Life (2) 05:35 ~ 05:52 ----- S!9pm DBL (1, Sg2, VC) 06:12 ~ 07:08 ----- Take Off (1) -- : -- ~ -- : -- ----- a small part of "S!9pm DBL" overlaps the final seconds of the previous cue ------------------------OP1----------------------- 08:44 ~ 10:24 ----- S! 9pm DBL / without Sheryl (Sg 2) 10:46 ~ 11:02 ----- What 'bout My Star? 16. It seems to be, at least consensus is it's the Nyan Nyan mascot in the picture, and that thing on the bottom left, whatever it is, might just be what is coming out. They made a gashapon figure of it so more may be on the way. I would prefer an Ai-kun figure, though.
  17. Got mine yesterday and although i has A LOT of repeat stuff it has enough new material to justify its purchase. I haven't seen the character line art or most of the mecha line art in either chronicle or memories. If i had to choose just one book to buy from those already published about Frontier, this would be it. Another great source for this material are the Blu-Ray disc booklets. Once again, a lot is repeated but theres always something new. Anyone can translate what's on the yellow binder around the dust cover? It seems to mention something else being published in March, hopefully some NEW material.
  18. Holly s##t! You're so right. I didn't know it till you said it but now that you said it and i know it, i can totally hear his voice. I would never have connected the voice to the person, even knowing the guy's name. I love his role in Malcolm and How i met your mother (Best jacka$$ boss ever), but i've gained a whole new respect for Mr. Cranston.
  19. That's a nice tip. Having your sandpaper full of plastic dust doesn't help. That's pretty much what i thought would happen but it's better to ear it from someone with a better understanding of these things. Thanks for your help. I'll probably skip the priming part except in the inner parts that will be painted with metalic paints.
  20. Where did you guys get those awesome line art pics?
  21. Ok, lets get this show on the road. For starters, be warned, this will be a LONG post. And for those who haven't watched the whole show BE WARNED there will be SPOILERS when deemed necessary. Also, this is the first topic i start so any suggestions on how to improve it will be welcomed. After giving it a lot of thought i decided the best way to give you a rundown of Macross Frontier's music would be to do it on an episode by episode basis. To help you understand the data presented, here's how it works. In Each episode i'll list ALL the music played in it, be it BGM's or songs, in the order they are presented in said episode. Here's how it will look: 00:10 ~ 01:16 --- Welcome to my Fan Clubs Night! SOS ( 1 ) start_~_finish_---_______song or BGM title_________(OST) To simplify work OSTs will be referenced to as: 1 - OST 1 Nyan Fro 2 - OST 2 Nyan Tra VC - OST 3 Nyan Tama Vocal collection Sg1 - “Triangler” Single Sg2 - “Diamond Crevasse / Sagittarius! 9pm Don’t Be Late” Single Sg3 - “Seikan Hikou” Single Sg4 - “Lion” Single Sg5 - “Sheryl’s Brother Spaceship and More” Single Sg6 - “Ranka and Bobby’s SMS Platoon Theme and More” Single Pretty simple. As for the UNRELEASED tracks (wich were the reason for this exercise in the first place) each will be presented like this: - When first listed the title will be displayed in Bold and underlined with (UNR) instead of the OST number; - Following that they will be only in Bold, the rest remains the same. The titles of these are totally unofficial and given to the track based on key scenes they were used in. If anyone has a better title for any of them, feel free to post them. If anyone finds any cue or song missing from this list, just point it out. I saw each episode and believe i have picked them all but... you never know... The start and finish times are based on broadcast raws, different raws or the actual DVDs will have slightly different times but as far as i’ve seen they’re all within a 10 second interval. They should be seen as nothing more than a basic guide line to help you find that particular cue in that particular episode. The point of this “project” was to find and catalog the unreleased BGM cues, therefore, greater attention will be given to these cues rather than the already published music wich has been reviewed by better people than me. Reference to these tracks will only be made when relevant to the subjet at hand. I can’t think of anything else right now, whatever comes up, will be adressed in due time. (What this means is... expect extensive foot notes (or as some will soon call them “Westfall rants”) in some episodes and info added/updated/replaced to this section. So on to business: Click on the links below to view the music info for each episode or just scroll down #1 - CLOSE ENCOUNTER #2 - HARD CHASE #3 - ON YOUR MARKS #4 - MISS MACROSS #5 - STAR DATE #6 - BYE-BYE SHERYL #7 - FIRST ATTACK #8 - HIGH SCHOOL QUEEN #9 - FRIENDLY FIRE #10 - LEGEND OF ZERO #11 - MISSING BIRTHDAY #12 - FASTEST DELIVERY #13 - MEMORY OF GLOBAL #14 - MOTHER'S LULLABIE #15 - LOST PEACE / LOST PIECE #16 - RANKA ATTACK #17 - GOODBYE SISTER #18 - FOLD FAME #19 - TRIANGLER #20 - DIAMOND CREVASSE #21 - BLUE ETHER #22 - NORTHERN CROSS #23 - TRUE BEGIN #24 - LAST FRONTIER #25 - YOUR SOUND FINAL THOUGHTS
  22. I just got some of those Tamiya sandpaper sheets and was wondering the same. I never used Tamiya putty so i can't compare it but i've used Mr. surfacer and it's worked very well. In Hobby Japan and other such magazines they use gundam markers, on that "white" area and then rub it with some product wich i haven't been able to make out what it is. They sometimes dab the markers tip in what i believe to be thinner. Anyone with better japanese reading skills than me can clear this up? Of course, this is done mostly with parts that won't be painted, but if you're going to paint, priming will cover those spots even before painting. If not, priming or puttying will only make it more visible unless the part is the same color as your primer.
  23. When i say mask i mean mask like you would after priming, just the pattern you'll paint, but in this case, you do it before priming. You mask, prime, paint and remove mask. Since it will be colored, will that edge be an issue? I'll probably try it your way and paint without priming. Since it will only be the stripes is the white areas, maybe it will work. I will prime the inner mechanisms wich i'll paint with silver, gun-metal and other metalic paints and will be weathered more heavilly. As for the pannel lines i'll use either Gundam Markers or Pro-Modellers clay based wash, wich is very simple to use. I haven't made up my mind yet. Anyway, thanks for the input.
  24. This will sound like a dumb question but here it goes: I'm a nobb when it comes to painting, therefore when i have kits like the VF-25's, wich are molded with the correct color (or at least close enough) i tend not to paint them. But there are parts where some areas need to be painted if this bird is to look right, like the black and red stripes (decals are not my thing) and details in some parts that are supposed to be of a different color than the one the part is molded in. (Hope that sentence made sense). The question is: Since priming is essential to have a good paint job, but you don't want to paint (hence, prime) the entire craft, is it possible to mask the areas you do want to paint and apply primer only to those areas, and then paint? Or does priming force you to paint the whole thing?
  25. Anouncing new songs from Ranka and Sheryl does not make me fret any less. Why? 1 - All songs that are featured in the series have already been published, with the exception of 1 or 2 variations of Aimo, so any new songs are either material that wasn't used in the show or songs that will appear in the movie. 2 - When we talk about unreleased BGMs we are talking primarily about the missing cues from Yoko Kanno's score wich comprise at least another 70 minutes of music. Until i see an anouncement of a CD like the vocal collection but with only BGM (i.e. no songs, just score), i will fret. I like Sheryl... and Ranka... and am glad new material is comingout, but when it comes to score CDs, history tells us the fans end up getting burned.
