  1. So, what are the chances that Alto pegged Ozma with some sort of homing beacon?

They seemed to linger and emphasize that little orange thingy a bit much, didn't they?

Not really. I thought they focused more on Alto's damage to be honest. Anyway, as been stated it's the typical (samurai) showdown sequence, with a run by where both attack once. The audience then gets to determine who won the exchange by looking at the damage each sustained, which usually only becomes apparent once they've long passed each other.

  2. Okay... not quite the way I expected things to go. Doesn't actually fit completely with what we've learned yet, so there's going to be pretty intense development leading up to this point as well.

Also, I'd translate the longer spoiler as follows:

NUNS arrive as reinforcements from earth, carrying a new planet destroying "Fold Weapon".

The NUNS who have reworked their system decide to destroy the Vajra home planet.

Alto and co, who have learned that Ranka is gathering all the Vajra to the main planet and plans to self-destruct, rushes to the main planet to stop her.

Ozma, who believed in Alto and co, tries to destroy the "Fold Weapon" alone and challanges the NUNS.

Horrid wording but it contains more info than the other. I'll try to polish it a little once I've woken up more...

  3. Thanks a lot, I just stopped repeating that in my head until I read your post. :p

    Now it starts again:

    do-de-doop do-do-do do-de-doop...Ninji-n Loves You Yeah!!! do-do-do

    do-de-doop do-do-do do-de-doop...Ninji-n Loves You Yeah!!! do-do-do

    do-de-doop do-do-do do-de-doop...Ninji-n Loves You Yeah!!! do-do-do

    Please make it stop!!!! :(

Try listening to Bobby's version. It tends to produce interesting results.

  4. Could it be, the Hory Froating Head himself?

Anyway, has anyone translated todays post?

    Allow me:

    "Definitely no!

    Theme: Blog.

    Death.

The future I thought would go on forever is being swallowed up by pitch black darkness.

    No.

Definitely not!" (note: the word used for 'no' or 'not' here is generally used for expressing displeasure and or rejection... that being said the entry sounds less dorky in the original japanese than this translation)

  5. Actually I remember that Ozma said in Episode 2 that S.M.S. members didn't get goverment burial ceremonies, graves or markers (remember what they made to Gilliam's body)... And that stone in the pic is clearly a tombstone in the Frontier graveyard. Ergo, is obvious that Klan was responsible for bringing Michael's body back and putting him in a grave (like his sister)...

Exactly. The body is used as bio fuel. Thus no body in the grave. A tombstone but no content. Just my opinion but I don't see anything that obviously disproves it. Doesn't change the fact that he's dead though.

  6. Rewatched the raw and noticed that Klan was sitting next to Michael Blanc's grave... resting on his tombstone when she got Cathy's text message. I read it and it clearly said "Michael Blanc, 2042 - 2059". Does anybody has a pic of that scene? It is clearly a confirmation that Michael is dead... No cyborg return or anything like it anymore...

    Ask and ye shall receive.

Of course, don't actually think anyone's buried there. Doesn't frontier avoid burying people at all? Still think he's dead though.

  7. Let me rephrase. I thought that Ozma was cutting Alto slack and wasn't fighting seriously while Alto gave it his all to fight "sempai". As someone said, Ozma only fired one shot throughout the fight and it hit Alto in the shoulder.

In hindsight Alto might or might not be shooting to kill but Ozma definately isn't given his skill but also underestimated Alto because he got hit on the fastpacks as well. And of course there's the issue on performance of VF-117EX vs VF-25 Full Armored......

I have to retract my last comment, as it seems we're in agreement. ^_^

I too am a bit unsure wether Alto was shooting to kill, but he was for certain taking the fight way more seriously than Ozma was.

As for performance differences between the machines, they might actually be monstrously huge or not so big at all, but it doesn't actually have any bearing on the original question: "Did Ozma in the VF-25S pwn Alto in an upgraded VF-171? OR where they evenly matched?" It does have bearing on potential followup questions "Would the result have been the same if they were piloting the same machine?". Small but important difference

  8. I just watched the episode again, and wanted to know if anybody knows the name of the ending song, and when/if theres going to bea 2nd ost for MF. Theres so many songs i want and cant get. :(

Northern Cross. Same title as the episode title. A pattern that's been used since episode 19.

Makes me wonder if the pattern's gonna break next week or are they going to whip out a new song called "True begin?"

  9. I'm a bit confused, but did Ozma in the VF-25S pwn Alto in an upgraded VF-171? OR where they evenly matched?

They both got a hit in, but I thought Ozma's looked like the bigger hit. Alto scraped the top of Ozma's armour pack while Ozma got a good hit in the shoulder area of Altos VF-171EX

Also I think that Alto was shooting to kill (He was firing at Ozma a whole lot at least), while Ozma just shot once to incapacitate Altos fighter. (It's the only time he fires in their entire matchup). Ozma then comments "You've gotten better".

So yeah, this one goes to Ozma.

  10. Actually, despite not knowing nihongo at all, I think I heard the narrator say

    "begining"

    ...

The katakana reads "トゥルー・ビギン", "Turuu bigin", "True begin".

What is it that Grace says in the end?

"Bajura no shin ....." something something. I think she says that finally, the new vajra queen has arrived (on planet) ???

I believe she says "Bajura no shin no joou no sumai hoshi" The dwelling of the true Vajra queen. But I'm still a bit unsure.

  11. Well, Macross Zero was excellent (for me at least), but it was Frontier what made me watch the 36 episodes of the original SDF Macross in Youtube (God bless the internet) a few months ago...

I can't wait to see some Macross F merchandise (toys!!!)... ^_^

Oh come on. The original, no matter how dated, deserves to be viewed under better conditions than that.

  12. while everyone wants to use the most literal translation, I think Ozma is really asking

Alto, who do you really fly for?

    and says something like

"What I'm doing is best to protect the woman I love."

The rough translations tend to overcomplicate matters and see another meaning that isn't there...

I'm usually pretty good at getting the intended meaning/context when translating from literal translation to *real* translation... but take that for what it's worth, friends.

He's asking why Alto chooses to fly. It can be a person or a cause. He's just putting him to the edge, questioning wether he really has a reason.

Also its definately plural when Ozma speaks of his own reasons. I assume he means Cathy and Ranka.

  13. This episode ain't so bad. I like Sheryl's new song. I wonder which episode they're going to play it fully since we know we only have 25 episodes.

Things I understood without the subs so help me God.

Ozma and Cathy's investigation somehow led them to siding with the Vajra---maybe understanding why Ranka left---other than the fact that Leon isn't to be trusted. They informed every member of SMS that they'll be going after Ranka or something similar. Alto received the message, but was interrupted when Sheryl woke up. Alto was carried away by Sheryl's condition, I see it as a spur of the moment projected from what happened to his mom but don't let me ruin your own view, and told her that he'll stay by her side till the last moment. Cut to Ranka telling Ai-kun that she feels glad at the moment, but also in pain at the same time. I could only guess. Cut to Alto later on. He finally read the message and (my, is he afraid of Ranka now? what a face) chose to stick to what he decided nonetheless. As SMS Quarter made its departure, Klan (?), Luca, and Alto stayed behind acting as the opposition.

Ozma and Alto had a showdown, and Ozma passive aggressively insulted Alto while they battle. He then confronted him and said, "To whom are your wings for?". He said Ranka chose her own path, he--himself--chose his own (which is to find Ranka), and brought back the question to Alto. "How about you? Where is your path?" Alto's frustration went max and all he could do was scream.

The finale will absolutely be astounding with things being set-up like this. I can't wait. Great episode.

Don't think they directly sided with the Vajra. If you ask me it's because they now know Leon murdered President Glass, that's what causes the SMS to break off. The message that are sent to all SMS personell is probably for rallying them to this. Since Klan is seen saluting the Quarter, rather than trying to stop it I think we can assume she isn't opposing them... for now at least.

I believe Ozma calls Alto something like a hothead, and that's why he didn't involve him. Also, he asks him if he isn't just riding along now, with the circumstances, with his feelings at this moment. (Like some acting princess perhaps? ^_^). As opposed to have a reason for doing what he does. Ozma also says that his own course of action now is what is best for the sake of protecting his "precious women".
