From the ep 24 discussion thread.
Holy Crap! Battle Galaxy!
If you blink when Alto rushes Ranka you'll miss it.
Whoa, you're right
First thought it was Brera's VF-27... but they don't have cannon turrets....
-
Agh! No horrible raw yet! I usually don't use Megaupload. I guess I may have to?
Uhm... usually direct download is the most preferable...
-
Just realized...
we actually do get to see the Battle 25 transform, if just a little... no focus on it at all and seems it only goes to half-point... and hard to make out on a non HD-raw, need HD raw now! ... anyway I'm such a slowpoke.
-
Well, of course Alto was shot down. How else is he gonna get the VF-25 back?
The original queen of Vajra looks dead to me. Did it ever move? From the way things are, I wouldn't be surprised if it was connected to the AFOS.
FV
I'm with you on both these points

I think they just used that song because they like it so much. Plus, its pretty famous in their universe.
They used it because that's what the writers wanted to use. Mystery isn't bigger than that
-
WAIT!...
Why would Ranka sing "Ai Oboeteimasuka?" and WHY would it work at all?
Isn't it supposed to be just a song which is part of a soundtrack for a fictional in-universe movie?????? I mean, considering this, even "Ai wa nagareru" should work as well.
Or is there something I don't know that tells us that there was indeed an original & ancient Protoculture song that was "updated" for the movie?
I'm confused
Hint:
any song would've worked.
-
can someone do a side by side of the
grand daughter pic
and Alto's flashback of his mom?
I just had a very disturbing thought......
Given that I think I know what you're thinking: "No I don't think so."
-
Thanks again!
Uhh! Alto is dead?
Noone's stopping you from thinking so. Just don't get shocked next episode
-
Idk, it was shown only briefly when it started to transform, and the CGI staff forgets her.
It's coming next episode. Along with Alto in an armored pack VF-25. Heck he even complained about the performance of the VF-171EX in the episode.
It's gonna happen.
-
Another thing...
The 'super-queen' isn't really green like the one in episodes 13-14, but rather sorta white-grey, with some purple details... in fact it reminds me of the Birdman colortheme... or perhaps I shouldn't think along these lines?
-
suddenly remembered:
Bilrer seems to have a hidden agenda of the personal kind... He goes "Soon I will be able to meet you" as he pets his ring. Any idea on whom? Dead wife? The Vajra queen? something else?
-
Re: the Galaxy ship - it's carrying Ranka, isn't it? That's my impression at least.
Got the impression Ranka was at the center of the spiral thingy, from where the the huge ethereal projection was coming from. Hard to tell though, since she was mostly in 'cyberspace' throughout the episode

Question about the singing of "Ai Oboete Imasu ka": Do you think it's a song the Vajra know, or one that Ranka picked, or maybe Grace? If they already know it, might be the clearest hint we get about the ultimate fate of Megaroad-01...
Believe Grace commented on it being the most fitting song of all to be used in this situation, but I can't say I got the impression she actually picked it.
-
I can't remember if M7 mentions Nyan Nyan restaurants or not.
Pretty sure it doesn't.
-
Geez, are all the people here this unfriendly? Sorry for being a noob, but if you feel this irritated by my question, you don't have to answer you know. I'd probably find out some other way.
I hope Alto stays dead, that was what made the episode good for me. Hope they don't pull a Code Geass R2 and bring everyone back to life.
Do you seriously believe he is? I think most of us don't, that's why the question is treated like a non-issue.
-
Whoa....
Grace burning aboard the 117th fleet... was she already a cyborg at this point, or was she just mad enough not to feel pain and this being what forced her to undergo cyborgization?
Grace manipulating Ranka, using the mind-controlled Brera.
Huge etheral Ranka singing ai oboeteimasu ka.
Mind controlled Brera calling Frontier forces invaders and shooting down Alto.

(...who the frak am I kidding? I can speak Spanish, so if push comes to shove, I can always download the WZF subs. No matter what happens, I win =3)
Those of us who don't need subs at all have already won.
-
Perhaps this is what Leon fears: with Ranka added to their mind, the Vajra will be able to think, plan and go on the offense; rather than simply react and defend.
I think he simply fears Grace. He knows Grace is up to something, and it seems to involve Ranka. Killing Ranka thus foils Grace.

I'm still wondering if the VF-27 really is also derived from the YF-24 seeing as there's no mention of it whatsoever in the series and that Galaxy Anonymous was surprised at the VF-35's performance. For all we know, the 27 is a totally different airframe that just copies the YF-24's transformation (possibly due to production not having enough time to do a completely new VF model).
The new stats for the VF-27 confirms that it was.

Same here. I already made a couple Dvds with Episodes 1-8 in one and 9-16 in the other (I'm waiting to see if the series end with an extended finale or extra episodes before burning more). And I still want to buy the originals...
Any info on the final episode duration? Could it be longer than the standard ones?
There's been no word afaik so there's no reason to think it will be.
If it happens, be pleasantly surprised. Hoping for it though will most likely get you disappointed.

And what about the comment in series about the VF-27 that "not even a human in Ex-Gear could survive piloting it..." or such... It seemed to me that clearly indicated some G-protection function for the Ex-Gear...
I believe the lines was something like "Our analysts believe there's no way its a pilotless craft, however, even with Ex-Gear a normal human wouldn't be able to handle piloting it" so you are indeed right. The Ex-Gear does aid pilots that way, real world physics be damned.

Duke, I think that was the metaphor that they were striving for in this episode. That, and the hive-like, every one has a specialized role, nature of the Vajra.
They even showed us a picture from a beehive
-
Just looking at the words, they seem to be taken from germanic languages... Utlanning = Foreigner, Framling = Stranger, Varelse = Creature.
Ramen though... noodles?
-
I think that culmination of Grace's plan will occur towards the end of this episode and then Frontier will come in and foul it all up, whether that plan is destroy the Varja through Ranka or somehow give them an externally communicative consciousness is yet to be seen, but right now I am betting on her wanting to destroy them, and Ranka with SMS and Frontier instead granting them with a new means of communicating and therefore coexisting with humanity. But then again, I could be wrong.
Grace's goal isn't simply destroying the Vajra, that much is certain. Whatever her grand scheme is though, it certainly seems to include sacrificing them as part of the means to reaching that goal. As much could be deduced from last episode's dialouge. Since Grace seems to need Ranka as well to carry out her plan, The Quarter (
who it says will discover the shadow of Grace's ambition in the events that led up to the 117th research fleet's destruction
) seems like the most likely candidate to foul up her plans. Leon's hope of fouling it up seems be by manipulating Alto into killing Ranka.
