  1. That assumes NY gets a hold of extra stock for later though. Their old cycle of restock and markup hasn't happened for a few releases now, and didn't help anyone get the VF-31, so I wouldn't count on them getting any extra until release date, if at all.
  2. WTF did they do the labeling? That looks nasty with the lettering that huge. Apparently the theme of this new parallel universe is that everything is just... BIG?. "These are the voyages of the starship OVERSIZE..."

Same, oh well, looks like my HMR fleet is growing. And here I was telling myself I wouldn't buy them all... who was I kidding? Really though, I don't expect Bandai to release so many variants as the Yamato 1/60 line. Once I get ahold of the M&Ms, a VF-1D, and VT-1, I'll probably be done, since that should cover the iconic ones. Maybe a Max 1A if it happens, just in case they make a Q-Rau for him to fight with.
  4. The integration of the music and plot/visuals was something Frontier absolutely nailed. In my case, I don't think even the final episode matched up to the full-on wham at the end of episode 6. SMS readies up to go rescue the Galaxy fleet, and Alto drops by the concert hall to give Sheryl back her earring, not knowing if he'll even come back. But she tells him to keep it, with the typical "I want this back" line, even after her near panic trying to find where it was earlier. Then the concert opens with Diamond Crevasse, played over the SMS deployment, and after learning the lyrics to the song, this scene is just so much to take in, it gets to me every time. Her singing it again acapella in the shelter as all hell breaks loose later on was similar, and the second movie probably had the best use of Northern Cross possible when she starts singing it over the burnt out ruins of Frontier's city. The series finale was amazing, so much rolled up into the music and visuals, and it only gets better if you realize exactly how well the lyrics go along with what's happening. The final bit where they interweave Lion and Ai Oboeteimasuka is just so good. The people in charge of Frontier just had a great grasp of how to integrate the music and action Delta did have a few moments like that, but I don't think they were quite as well planned, or as powerful, though I also don't know the lyrics to the songs well enough to know if they help that. Two that stick with me are the scene with Freyja singing to knock the 171 pilot out of his mind control, and Kaname singing for Messer in episode 13. The one with the 171 pilot was probably the strongest moment in the series really. The callback to his own kids trying to save him with the same song earlier in the episode really made it a powerful scene. If only the rest of the series had been able to build up that kind of impact with its songs.
  5. Will depend on what shipping type you used, and the day you requested shipping. If you ship via FedEx early in the week, I've gotten the package in 2-3 days, and EMS can be close to that as well, but may take quite a few days longer due to nothing but customs shenanigans. Ordering Thursday or Friday may also rollover into the next week, even with fast shipping.

Huh.. odd, the VF-1A is listed as "low stock" on HLJ.. and my order is still listed as "open" on my account. Not exactly worried, I just checked Nippon Yasan and saw they had them in stock, so I ordered two more. But still weird. Best case, it just means I have three instead of two, but I'm a little concerned about HLJ's processing. Do wish I could combine the shipping with my pair of Hikaru 1Js though, I'm going to be getting a bunch of little boxes next month. Here's hoping Max is this easy to get when he actually arrives.

I actually ordered doubles of that one to get some TV-style missile clusters for use on Roy's 1S. I plan on parking one of those on my desk at work though. Take up a lot less space than the 1/60ths.
  8. Problem with the reaper emblem is it's going to take a lot of white, so you might have to do some fancy painting to get the decal to work out correctly. Either that, or use white-backed decal film (if it exists) or pre-paint the decal film with white before printing the emblem onto it.
  9. Hope so, because I think that's what it'll take to get me buying more of this kit. Just wasn't all that impressed with the construction or overall shape of the plane (though the shape might be accurate, in which case it means I just don't like the design all that much. )
  10. I cannot emphasize enough how much I want this to happen. It would mean we can actually just buy the darn things, instead of having to fight the webshops.
  11. Looks like the sword just folds in half, and honestly, with how big those legs are, I bet Bandai could pull it off without much trouble. Looks like there's a ton of room in the shins.
  12. Going in with no expectations should at least make the action enjoyable I guess. Still.. you can't even call this a triangle. The angle's so close to zero, it's like a toothpick with Hayate and Freyja hugging on one tip while Mirage sulks at the other end. I would've preferred it staying unresolved to such a one-sided and depressing ending.
  13. See.. that'd still be an improvement though, because it would mean the valks got at least a little screen time to show off their new maid armor packs.
  14. Hmmm, might grab a couple of those x-wings if they come with a different set of markings and base than the ANH version, but otherwise I'd rather collect more Death Star baseplates. U-wing isn't a bad design, but ehhh.. the new tie looks like someone got bored and glued spare parts to a giant suppository. Nothing really aesthetically pleasing about the design to me.
  15. Huh, that's different than I expected.. I was thinking of this one brand of knock-offs that sells hilariously obvious knock-offs of Battle Star Galactica ships, and other random things that made me crack up like a SCUD missile launcher trailer. But yeah. I'd just say buyer beware. The pictures on the sale site are stock LEGO photos, so unless you see some direct comparison pics, I have doubts they're going to have the tolerances required to build some of those heavier sets with any success.
  16. Yeah, they just don't seem to like trying to add anything to that blocky hinge assembly in the knee. And actually, judging by the photos, I'm pretty sure the DX VF-31 has both pivot points, so you get some nice leg twisty posability in both battroid and gerwalk. My biggest gripe with that gerwalk joint though is that unless you glue the entire thing together, frequent use of that joint will probably just leave the hip assembly falling to pieces.
  17. Zero had much better writing up until we somehow lost an episode's worth of material after #4, and it became a minefield of plotholes and deus ex mecha. Even after that though, the crazy flippity mecha-jet combat action was still top notch (lame villain deaths not withstanding). It's kind of sad, but I think our best hope for getting a satisfying resolution at this point is for someone to recut and re-voice everything after episode 13 into an entirely new story.
  18. Think I'm going to wait until the last episode comes out to watch this one, and hope the instant gratification helps me forget how bad this one seems to be.
  19. I've kept an eye out for the better UCS sets, and usually pick them up if they hit a significant discount. Biggest one I regret is the original Blockade Runner UCS set though, that was one of the very early ones, and I just didn't have the cash on hand to get it. Think my favorite is the Shuttle, but I'm looking for parts to rebuild a few pieces of it. Never liked the shape of the nose section or the engine block. Nose is a fairly easy fix with layered plates, but the engine section will need some fancy 3x3 quarter dome pieces that I'm not actually sure exist.
  20. Eh, if you ignore the entire underside of the ship, it might be passable.. but sadly, unless you mount it upside down or against a wall, that's very likely what's going to be right in your face if you mount it on a shelf at anything above eye-level. Freakin' battery door and speaker holes, on top of the "landing gear." It should be a fairly nice size, assuming they scaled it based on the 1.6 km length at 1/4000 it should be almost 16 inches long. For something that big though, the details visible on the bridge look awfully mushy.

Yeah, I kinda figure I'll end up payiing the same amout for both, which isn't a terrible thing. Just need to concentrate on getting one.

Wish they would have just made them a bundle, or both exclusives... need to hope Max is available at release. Really though, the pricing has just gotten weird. Why is Millia $25 more than Max? The real kicker though is that I got the 1/60 v.2 Yamato versions for only $20 more back in the day.
  23. ... Please please tell me they didn't actually put landing gear on a star destroyer. Plus, that's an ESB-style bridge, meaning the people in charge of these kits probably haven't even seen the movie trailer yet, because it uses the original ANH version. I'm just getting more and more confused about who on earth they're getting to design this junk. Both the kits, and the movie designs.

Is it bad I'm considering buying two Millias just to have one to customize into a Max version since he's so freakin hard to buy normally?
