In the original series it is implied Voltron was one sentient unpiloted robot, something carried over from Golion. Though as said later depictions in V3D, the IDW comic and now Voltron Force has the lions as sentient.

Holy crap that's.... Voltron!

Macross Frontier elaborates the Bird Human is an attempt by the Protoculture to emulate the Vajra Queen. In Macross Frontier Wings of Goodbye with the 50 year old Boddole wreck turned nest one would question if the Vajra's interaction with Zentradi caused a leap in war capabilities. Green Vajra resemble Reguld, Red Vajra resemble the Glaug, the Vajra Knight class warship resembling the Quiltra-Quelamitz class gunboat. Or is it the other way around the Protoculture basing aesthetics of their mecha on the Vajra.

Individuals don't matter as the Hive is one organism. They didn't understand individual sentience until they understood why with Sheryl and Ranka. As to why the 177th Fleet was attacked. Imagine being called to an orgy only to find hostile aliens shooting at you! Ranka explained Aimo is a love song. The Vajra are confused as to WTF is gong on.

Vajra are like Space Whales that fight back. Now having a grudge against multi-galaxy spanning species is an exercise in futility. .
-
Could be an assault using reaction weapon to damage something as big as a Grand Cannon. The Anti-UN is lacking in the space forces department that they had to steal from the UN at one time.

The entire VF development history that is. February 2002 Tentative plan introduced for an all-regime variable fighter for use against the giants. The VF-0 Project starts. 2003 [Development begins on a competing fighter [to be known as] VF-X-2 to the fighter [to be known as] VF-1. ] December 2004 First VF-0 variable fighter completed. (Macross History version 2008) Basic design of variable fighter system completed. [Development begins on a fighter [to be known as] VF-X-3.] [Development begins on a fighter [to be known as] VF-X-4.] November 2007 [Decision made to formally adopt the VF-X1. VF-1 series mass production [scheduled to] begin.] And most importantly. http://macross.anime.net/wiki/SV-51 The VF-0 and SV-51 were competing designs but the Anti-UN co-opted the SV-51 for their own. Nora was just full of herself. It's not as if the Anti-UN has their hands on the ASS-1 else they wouldn't attack South Ataria time and time again. Remember Nora is a fanatic she'd credit her side rather than give credit to the UNG.
-
That's just hubris on Nora's part really. She hates the UNG so much she would twist it that it was the UNG that stole from them. OTEC was in charge of the study of Overtechnology so Nora can't claim the UNG stole it from them.
-
Overtechnology was studied all over the world under the UNG. The Anti-UN illicitly obtained the SV-51. Meaning Sukhoi/Israel Aircraft Industries/Dornier sold out to the Anti-UN. So no you are wrong in that. Remember the Anti-UN is a rebellion against the world government. The difference between the SV-51 and VF-0 is that the SV-51 from the onset was a deployed combat fighter while the VF-0 is just a development stage as the VF-1 is being massed produced. When the SV-51 was deployed the Unification War was officially over as the Russian Anti-UN forces already withdrew from the Anti-UN Alliance. Thank you for that info. You are after all the Macross II continuity expert.

Various Macross series starting with SDF Macross TV has the premise of copying alien technologies. Mactross Frontier series and movies make it a plot point. Macross Zero The Anti-UN develop their own Variable Fighter the SV-51 and their own answer to the Destroid in the Octos. A race between the UN Forces and Anti-UN to obtain the AFOS to their hands. SDF Macross The UNG had copied the overtechnology the SDF Macross causing a technological revolution. Further contact with the Zentradi make it more so. The Zentradi themselves learn from Humans how their own technology works. This is an effect of their cultural integration. Even Quamzin appreciates it. Macross M3 Rebel Zentradi develop their own variable mecha with the Variable Glaug. They even create the original Final Weapon which is a combiner. Macross 7 The Protodevlin absorb the Varauta fleet expedition along with them their technology. And this is not the first time they did it. They did so during the Protoculture-Protodevlin war. Building their own ships and Variable Fighters, which was identifiable derived from the VF-14 Vampire. Macross VF-X Rebel Zentradi build upgraded versions of their mecha. Also the Feios Valkyrie which was a match for the VF-19 and VF-22 of the time. Speculation a stolen VF-11 prototype led to the Feios development. Macross VF-X2 This time it is the military industrial complex conspiracy Rakutensu selling to both sides, UN Spacy and Zentradi insurgents. To field test weapons they were developing. Macross Frontier Escalating arms race between Frontier, Galaxy and the Vajra. Some Vajjra forms are reminiscent of Zentradi technology. According to Grace O'Connor the Protoculture created the Bird Human in the Vajra Queen's image. Both Frontier and Galaxy trying to exploit Fold Quartz which the Vajra create. Macross Frontier Wings of Goodbye Where as the TV series implied the Protoculture copies the Vajra this movie posses the question if the Vajra copy from their opponents. Even before Humanity made first contact with the Vajra, the Vajra fought and destroyed a Boddole Zer Fortress, turning it to a nest much like the Guantanamo in the TV series. A new type of Vajra shows up that is big and has large cannons which seems to be emulating the VB-6 Konig Monster function. So does that imply the Vajra in their rapid adaptation strategy copy their opponents?

Transending the Protoculture
RedWolf replied to I_Fly_For_Firebomber's topic in Movies and TV Series
Actually the official recognition of Fold Faults in-universe was the 117th Research Fleet studying the Vajra. Zentradi being not scientists treated it as just an anomaly. Hence a relatively recent discovery. -
Transending the Protoculture
RedWolf replied to I_Fly_For_Firebomber's topic in Movies and TV Series
MF ep prologue said fold faults are the limitation of all Protoculture derived civilizations.Considering their arms escalation which resulted to the Evil series and the Protodevlin entering our space even the Zentradi hence their Protoculture masters didn't conquer fold faults as it was a different avenue. Humans and associated races inherited Protoculture technology and made their own improvements. The reason fold faults weren't mentioned in prior media is that Shoji Kawamori likes to add new things to his current projects. -
Walz Gills receives from his father Emperor Akudos Gils his mecha to fight the Gokaiger. It proves to be too strong that the Gokaiger taps to own Great Power to form Kanzen GokaiOh.

Transending the Protoculture
RedWolf replied to I_Fly_For_Firebomber's topic in Movies and TV Series
From the ancient script said the White Whale is a million years old. Older than Protoculture civilization. I'd like to think that while the Vajra Queen is the original source of the Bird Human in the Mayan myths the White Whale would be the Fish Human. The ancestors or Protoculture on Zola considers the White Whale a god. This would suggest the Protoculture could be Animists in their religion. -
Transending the Protoculture
RedWolf replied to I_Fly_For_Firebomber's topic in Movies and TV Series
The way I see it the Protoculture limited themselves. How? They never messed with fold capable aliens like the Vajra and Galactic Wales. The Protoculture admired and emulated the Vajra but never went to control them. Even during their civil war. In short the Protoculture feared the Vajra. The Vajra has taken for granted technological limitations of the Protoculture. Instant no time lag fold and communication. The Vajra also has rapid adaption to weaponry. Thus the whole Bird Human test makes sense. If Humans went out in space and brought their warlike tendencies with them inevitably they are going to piss off the wrong aliens. It turns out corporate transhumanist cyborgs of Macross Galaxy were stupid and daring enough to try to control the Vajra. Their vision is to unite the galaxy under their rule. Surpassing the Protoculture's Stellar Republic. Only this time descent means instantaneous death. -
Macross Frontier Movie 2 thread - Now available on Blu-ray/DVD
RedWolf replied to Tochiro's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Somebody really liked Osamu Tetsuka to put Black Jack and Astro Boy/Atom on the screens. -
Just as when you thought Basco is a Sentai villain version of Diend he surprises us. He already stole three great powers. Changeman, Maskman and Flashman. He can transform himself to a monster form. This destroys speculation he's switch sides. And like any decent loner villain in Sentai proceeds to trash the team. OhRed and OhPink proceeds in a operation to get back the powers from Basco, failing that OhPink is give Ohrangers great power to the Gokaiger. Course Marv and company don't want easy pickings they want to earn it thus saving OhRed and fighting Basco. Gai manges to steal the Bangai Hero Ranger Keys from the monkey. But as shown Basco wasn't out of tricks as he can fight himself.

This episode world builds Third Earth. For one thing Thunderan money was used beyond its borders. Meaning it didn't just conquer but trade outside. I think I saw a cat in the crowd. So Cats aren't isolated in the kingdom of Thundera. There are more species than Mumm-Ra's slaves. The swordsman town looks like a fine place to start a adventure party. Potential allies even if they weren't Mumm-Ra's animals.

Interesting that Gai Ikari can't see Gai Yuuki but the Gokaiger and Zangyack can. How does he come back? Playing poker with God... Who is a woman and heaven is a bar... Leave it to Gai Yuuki having that version of an afterlife.

I feel this like this Kamen Rider in a general sense with GTO Yankee + Nanoha's YOU"RE GONNA GET BEFRIENDED + Cromartie High. Though I have to say I did have as a male a DAMN! reaction when the cheerleaders came in. Cliques felt like castes. As for the protagonist Gentaro well... Despite being the girl's childhood friend I have a feeling he's not an Earthling.
-
And we got the Green center Voltron. Yeah Predator Robeast will still trounce it as it isn't an ace in hole as hoped.
-
Interesting to note about the metal used on the sheaths and swords might be what the Silverhawks and Mon*Star's armor would be made of. I can see several possibilities. One Mumm-Ra stole from Mon*Star. Two Mon*Star was a Cat that took over Mumm-Ra's empire in his absence. He has found out where the Book of Omens and the stones are and take them for himself. Both scenario setting a fight between Mon*Star and Mumm-Ra with the appearance of the Silverhawks as some interplanetary force opposing Mon*Star. As for the Tigersharks we only saw the Mako types and they are animals like the rest. Maybe a magic powered Fish Tank to be humans? Though I can see a possibility of non-Third Earth Tigersharks appearing as a salvage crew.

You are looking at the wrong way. Mon*Star appeared on Mumm-Ra's screen. There are two theories. One Mumm-Ra stole the Warstone/Eye of Thundera from Mon*Star. The other Mon*Star was an ancient Thundercat back when Mumm-Ra was still their master. We got a glimpse of ancient Jackalmen meet their descendant.
