1. ok, that partially solves the mystery of WTF-1. so at least one other old-macross design was built. Alto used the words "macross class 4 Global". macross 4? this brings up a whole world of possibilities on the nature of ships/fleets/vessels launched post SW-1. is the retro macross design exclusively for non-colony flets? or was the old macross design battleships really used for all macross-class fleets (post megaroad fleets, but pre-macross 7 design). i don't recall ever seeing the Macross 5 battle in action, so for all i know, the Macross 5 battle and all preceeding batlleships could have been using the old retro design (fell free to call me out on this one if there's dogma to the contrary, though)

Macross 5 fleet had 3 New Macross class city ships, 1 Neo Nupetiet-Vergnitzs bis Class Stealth Fleet Command Battleship, and Bolognese Zentradi variant Stealth Frigates as escorts.

Macross 5 had more firepower than the Macross 7 fleet but still was wiped out by the Protodevlin.

Good for a laugh, but there's no real mention of that. The VF-19 Custom was just that, a custom.

Actually one of the techs in Macross 7 during maintenance said that Basara sending the VF-19 through the wringer is a test of the VF-19's performance.

It's not as if Basara bought an expensive VF, it was given to him under UN Spacy's Operation M.

Oh well it still blew up by the end of the Protodevlin war.

But he got a new one (VF-19P) with a red space whale paintjob, nicking it from the Zolan Galactic Patrol.

Newbie here but what the hell happened to the technology that went into the YF-21 & 19? I mean the Pin-Point system(I think thats what its called) and why wasn't the 19s used for the next generations of fighter? I kinda missed out on all of M7 so I'm not sure if theres any real vital information on what I'm asking.

YF-19

Shinsei industry won the military contract to produce the next generation fighter.

The VF-19F, 19S, 19P were massed production versions of the YF-19.

The most famous of the VF-19 line is Nekki Basara's Custom VF-19 Fire Valkyrie.

Five years after Plus the VF-19 was still in the combat testing stages.

VF-19's perfomance through Nekki Basara was evaluated during the Protodevlin war. Nekki Basara made good use of the VF-19's pin-point barrier system and it's manueverability.

In the tradition of the Daedalus attack it can also perform a pin-point barrier punch.

2045-46 VF-19F and VF-19S were built for combat with the Protodevlin under the elite Emerald Force squadron.

As of 2047 VF-19's are already distributed even to most remote UN teritory such as Zola.

A planet whose native miclone race joined the UN. Though in small numbers due to how expensive VF-19's are.

YF-21

Galaxy General while having not won the Supernova contract repackaged the YF-21 into the VF-22 Strumvogel II and VF-22S as a special operations fighter and got a smaller contract out of it.

The the Brain Control interface system was thrown out in favor of more conventional pilot controls. Due to side effects to pilot psyche and human or Zentradi endurace could not survive if the fighter is pushed to the limits with the brain control system.

In 2046 the VF-22 saw first action in the Protodevlin war under married pilot aces Maximillian Jenius and Milia Fallyna Jenius.

As of 2047 the VF-22 became the fighter of choice by Macross 7 elite Diamond Force squadron.

But it seems to me the VF-27 is running on similar principles to the brain control interface system.

The endurance part is solved because the pilot is a cyborg.

Here is a list of known colony emmigration fleets.

Known Colony Fleets

Megaroad 1 – Commanded by Misa Ichijyo-Hayase, launched in 2012 from earth and reported lost in 2016. No trace of the fleet is ever found, and the loss of the fleet is kept secret from the public for almost four years. Also lost with this fleet are Hikaru and Miku Ichijyo and Lynn Minmei. The Megaroad 1 mission was to explore and colonize near the galactic core, despite Exsedol’s warnings to stay away from that area of the galaxy. Footage in the opening of Macross Frontier clearly shows the Megaroad 1 fleet going rim-ward until 2014, then turning core-ward until 2020-ish, and then turning towards the galactic west.

Megaroad 2 – Launched in 2012 from earth and heads directly galactic east.

Megaroad 4 – Launched in 2012 from earth and colonizes planet Eden later that year.

Megaroad 6 – Launched from earth and heads into the galactic west, deep into what is believed to be the Stellar Republic core systems.

Megaroad 9 – Launched from earth and heads towards the galactic rim.

Megaroad 13 – Launched in 2019 from earth to investigate the planet Rax as a possible colony (see below). The fleet arrives in the Varauta system in 2025 and are subjugated by the barely-aware Gepernich. Macross 1 – Launched from earth and heads towards the galactic rim.

Macross 5 – Launched in 2036 from earth to investigate the Varauta system and to colonize Rax. The Macross 7 fleet is commanded by Maximillian Jenius, with Miriya Jenius as City 7’s mayor.

Macross 9 – Launched from Eden and heads towards the galactic NE.

Macross 11 – Launched in 2041 from Eden and heads towards the galactic SE. The Macross 11 fleet is completely English speaking. Home of Fire Bomber American, claiming that Fire Bomber stole all of their songs, despite the obviousness as a copycat band. The Macross 11 fleet is mentioned in the radio dramas played on ZZNQK Zolan Radio Network in the M7 Dynamite OVA.

Macross 13 – Launched in 2043 from Eden and heads towards the galactic NE. Home to British Bomber, a cover band who translated many of Fire Bomber’s songs into English and receive a good amount of fame. Later the flagship is captured by the Black Rainbow terrorist group and modified for an assault on UN main headquarters in 2051.

Macross 15 – Launched from Eden and heads towards the galactic core.

Macross 17 – Launched from Eden and heads towards the galactic east.

Macross 19 – Launched from Eden and heads towards the galactic SW.

Macross 20 – Launched from Eden and heads towards the galactic east. Macross 23 – Launched from Eden and heads rim-ward towards the galactic SW.

Macross 25 / Macross Frontier – Launched in 20XX from earth as the 25th Macross class colonial fleet. Encounters biotechnological enemies near the galactic core.

Thing is you can't expect them to cram everything on a screen.

Macross 7 was considered the 37th colony emmigration fleet because there has been 30 Megaroad fleets and 6 New Macross fleets before it.

Macross Frontier is considered the 25th New "Macross" class emmigration fleet. With bigger city blocks than Macross 7 or 5.

Macross Galaxy was said to be corporate venture. I'm still trying to figure out where they put the New Macross battleship in there. It's different from the shell dome types we've seen before.

But Macross 5 had three shelldome city blocks. One I've seen with a New Macross class battleship. I'm not so sure if the other two were equiped with a Macross , likely Uruga class carriers.

If they were equiped with three New Macross' then Macross 5 is the most well equiped fleet known , with also a Zentradi Neo Nupetiet-Vergnitzs class as escort.

Leon is working for a different group of interest. While he sports a NUNS rank and works under the president, whose daughter he's shagging on off-work hours, he seems to be a toady to Mr. Viller or Birla.

But even I doubt he's loyal to Mr. Viller. He's too slimy and metrosexual to be any good.

The government, NUNS, Zentradi, LAI, the Vajra.

Given that Grace manipulated Mikhail's confidence I get the feeling Grace had something to do with the Friendly Fire incident which got Mikhail's sister court martialed.

As Alto said exploration was sabotaged. Temjin despite his Zentradi superiority manifesto still got help and info from a miclone.

Even if she is a cyborg.

Temjin said to his trrops there is something on the planet that would benefit their cause.

So he may have an idea that the Global is there but have no idea what's within.

I gotta ask why would anybody want their body cut up a replaced with cyborg parts?

Sure the Zentradi had such parts in their bodies but for someone raised in human culture wouldn't they avoid it? It gives special abilities and it better then being disabled. I can't see people willing go through such operations.

Unless one wants longevity or immortality.

A full blooded human's lifespan is nothing compared to a Zentradi.

Now the Grace we now know could be just an AI.

But as we've seen with Sharon Apple there needs to be a human personality template as fully sentient AI has not been achieved without one in 2040.

So there could have been a real Grace O'Connor we just don't know if her real body is still alive.

The case may also apply to Brera Stern.

From what we know from Macross Plus there have been attemps at AI with emotion chips but that was a failure due to the self preservation mentality and irrationality of AI.

Given that the BCS, the AI emotion interface and the Mind System (Macross 7 Trash) were deemed too dangerous I see why in such places as Frontier cybernetics is banned.

I'm thinking one much too obvious "sci-fi" explanation is that the Vajra are creatures native to fold space.

Been there done that with the space whales of Zola.

But given the Mao Nome's connection I'm thinking another experiment by the Protoculture gone wrong like the Evil series, which the Protodevlin jacked.

Why else would the red types sport Protoculture spiral sigil.

Humans do have a damn knack for stumbling on their weapons sites. (Like New Asia in the Sega M3 game and Varuta in Macross 7.)

Something tells me for the next few episodes Macross Frontier fleet will be hunted by the Vajra.

Much like Macross 7 was hunted down by the Protodevlin.

Ohgathwai will appear with reinforcements later.

The 33rd Marines can't just have one ship.

To me, the most disturbing part of the episode wasn't the Zentradi getting blasted, it was the way that Grace was SMILING as she was engulfed by the explosion.

Very cold and very disturbing.

The "Private company trying to stir up a war to drum up business" is a very tempting possibility, but I wonder if it could be the new cyborgs from Galaxy seeing themselves as a new form of life and trying to achieve domination by creating a civil war between human, Zentradi and everybody else?

In Macross Plus the emotion chips were illegal because they tend to make AI have too much self-preservation instinct and irrationality.

Though society at the time were welcoming the posibility of sentient AI there must have been cases before Sharon Apple where AI became dangerous.

Sharon Apple was the straw that broke the camel's back that made societies like Frontier be wary of AI and augmentation.

With the former existence of the Zentradi and after the Protodevlin it is likely Macross humans were wary of making the same mistakes as the Protoculture.
