  1. The cockpit canopy size and shape was also covered in depth, much pain and suffering involved in trying to make it in scale and accurate to original line art. It was just not possible to make line art, anime, and small scale, large scale models all match up due to many real life factors.

  2. The relative size of Zendran and the VF-1 is inconsistent and subject to much debate:

But from the recent Q&A session at the Osaka Macross Museum, Kawamori stated that the reason he made the VF-1 so small, is to make it different from a Gundam.

Correction: the VF-1 is tiny because it's designed to match the stature of the Zentraadi when in Battroid form.

OTEC et al only enables the small size, they didn't require it to be small.

  3. A fantastic time was had by all. Consisting of Me, Save, Tochiro, Gubaba, Hebime, Jefferson, and Dyna Gold.

The museum was first, with the Hidetaka Tenjin talkshow and signing event blessed by the surprise appearance of Shoji Kawamori himself. For an hour he related surprisingly candid stories of recent and past events.

Ever wonder why the original VF-1 is so small relative to contemporary fighter planes?

What is the next Macross show going to be like?

Will the next life size display model be a Regult?

What does he think of the SDCC exclusive Jetfire?

Where does Macross II fit in the overall Macross universe?

These and many other questions were answered during the talk show. Tune in to a future speaker podcast to hear the answers.

We also went to the Marui Alto event, which had some new Alto related merch, and gave many Osaka residents the chance to get left over merch from the various events from the last year, from Musiculture to Crossover live.

Finally we went to Fire BomBAR for their Chie Kajiura birthday party event.

  4. When and where do we meet ?

Depends on how early you can get there. We will be in line at the museum for tickets at 7am. Be roaming around DenDen town from 11am. Back at museum at 2pm for seminar. At fire bomBAR around 6pm. Please let us know when and where you can meet us and we will adjust our schedule to find you.

  5. Time to plan when and where to meet at the Museum. Me and Hebime plan on getting on the first train and camping out to get our tickets for the seminar. We will set up a tarp and play some Macross Crusade. Feel free to join us esp if you have your own crusade deck. Unless you bring a Yu Yu Hakusho deck:p We will shun and hate those who bring Yu Yu Hakusho decks:)

After that we will probably pass the time in DenDen town until the actual seminar starts in the afternoon.

And finish the evening at Fire bomBAR.

Let us know what time you can make it, and if you have somewhere else you would like to go.

  6. There was no hint of a second season at the end of the first one either. And considering how they have reality warping retcon powers the end shown in season 2 is meaningless. The most important reason to have a 3rd season is if the merch sells well, and allows them to resell old figures with slight repaints.

Unfortunately, they gave no indication of a third season. No hints, no sneak peeks, whatsoever. The fact that this season was given an ending may have sealed it.

  7. It was not the same. It showed how the 3 video panels changed positions.

Was it similar to the one in the Space Wings Master File book? If I recall that one was trying to reconcile the TV style cockpit and got kind of crazy so I'm definitely curious if the DYRL cockpit fairs better :3

  8. Well, had a great time at the Museum. I had been to the Tezuka Museum before so I knew it would be tiny. But they still managed to have stuff I have not seen before. One of the interesting things they did was to make it from the point of view of a museum in 2060. The various displays talk about the events in the past tense, and the displays are described as replicas of the actual items from history.

The main thing of course, was the 1/1 VF-1 cockpit, which was totally hands on and photograph-able. You can push buttons on the console to select your in-flight theme music, and to activate the video sequence of the missile launch from the beginning of DYRL.

The wall of valks was not a complete collection of all the Bandai and Yamato 1/60 but close. It concentrated on the main cannon designs.

Each display was clearly labeled as no touch or no photograph. There were only a few items that were non photograph tho. One was the technical diagram for the cockpit showing how the interior transforms from the pilot sitting down in fighter mode, to standing in battloid mode. The other display that we were not allowed to photograph was the replica DYRL protoculture artifacts. Such as the table ware consisting of plate, 2 cups, spoon and vaguely fork-like thing. Also included was song memory plate and Misas hand written translation. And finally they had Minmays photo album.

Most of the merch that was announced was on sale, except for the engraved to order medallions, which will go on sale on the 27th. One surprising thing was that they were selling the metal box super deformed VF-1S resin kits. As well as the YF-29 Roy Fokker color below original retail.

Several nearby restaurants also had macross themed food, we went for fire bomber curry with pine cake desert... and lived:)

  9. None of us have any children that I know of, it wasnt planned in advance. If there is a better time, please let us know. Maybe the 27th may be best for long term planning?

When I got your PM, I didn't think it would be literally tomorrow. You guys must not have children (or have been planning this way in advance)...
