  1. maybe they can't. maybe their license specifies they can only produce 'x' number of units

Exactly. Wonderfest licences specify an exact number of kits that can be produced.

  2. Ok... some questions of my own. Did I.H.P / Liquid Stone change there name again? If so why? The Liquid Stone website is still up:

Hmmm... so is it now I.H.P / Liquid Stone / Experten? If you are a fan of their work they sure seem to be going out of their way to make it hard for their fans to keep up with them.

If I recall correctly there were two guys behind I.H.P / Liquid Stone. Have they now gone their seperate ways or something? Just curious what's up with all the name changes.

    Thanks,

    Carl

Ok, I have been out of the loop for a while so my info may be out of date. To the best of my knowledge here is the chain of events.

In the beginning there Mr. Sakuragawa and Mr. Sakamoto formed IHP to make macross resin kits which you are all familiar with.

After working together for a while they decided to try other things and started Liquid Stone as a small offshoot to do non macross items. It proved much more successfull then they anticipated and now they make mostly toy prototypes for Gundam, Microman, Amdriver, Girl figures, alot of various gashapon. They have various assistants and subcontractors to handle the load.

Experten is just Mr. Sakuragawas personal sandbox where he can go back to making macross resin kits again.

  3. Hello again all.

Sorry about being gone for so long. For the last year I have been working a job with heinous working hours. Got a new job which gives me alot more free time now.

Grats Carl on winning this holy grail of dojinshi(or should I say Greg?) Very kind of you to post scans, but unfortunatly they are not quite high enough resolution to make out the kanji in later pages. If you could post higher res scans of just the text I could give it a shot.

I cant make any promises but I can ask Robotto94 for help on the kanji.

Yes there are many japanese who come here to macrossworld, but very few actualy read the posts. If they do its in the modeling section. And very unlikely for them to see a post in the anime section, most of what is posted here is either incomprehensible to them or highly obsolete. The few macross/mospeada fans I know fluent enough to understand posts here are unfortunatly barred from posting here by their employers.

Here is a quick and dirty translation of the table of contents:

  4. Hello all, I apoligize for the long delay in responding. Had several problems hit me all at once right when I was going to ship out the asukas. Most of the smaller problems like my PC and internet access have been taken care of but I wont be able to get access to the paypal funds that everyone sent till I get a new US bank account and credit card. I will just be using my personal funds to send out the remaining Asukas.

I got an e-mail from howard a couple of days ago.  He's straightening out his PC problems but is still having trouble getting to his paypal money.  I guess he needs the money to ship them out.
Any word on the Asuka figure from anybody?

  5. Are there any places in Osaka?

    Do the TRU's carry 1/48's?

The reason i ask is because i have a friend who lives in Osaka but will be moving back to the states in August.

I was thinking of asking him to get me a 1/48.

Another question though, are 1/48's that are bought in Japan cheaper then here? (Valkyrie Exchange, etc...)

Or it's about the same either way.

First question: Again, Mandarake in Umeda and Namba, see previous post. Also, Yodobashi Camera in Umeda has toys in the 5th floor. They still have 1/48 TV Maxs and Millias in stock.

Apart from that, try Nipponbashi, near Namba. That whole area is filled with toy shops like Yellow Submarine, Kotobukiya, etc. There are bound to be plenty of 1/48s there. The thing is I haven't actually been in quite a while so I'm not sure what's in stock and what isn't, though.

As for prices, the best people to ask are Bariaburu Faita and Samurai M. I do not know what the prices are over at VE etc. but over in Japan you can find deals if you look hard enough. I got a Binaltech Overdrive brand new for just Y1260 recently. :D

Ouch, just a bit late. Volks, which had the biggest stock of 1/48 that I know of, just sold all of their remaining 1/48 for 5-6,000yen.

  6. Anyone else heard from Howard? I've emailed him and havent heard anything back. I know he's having modem troubles but he was suppose to get that a while ago.

Very sorry for not replying to email or PM contacts. As it turns out I had more than just a modem problem, my hard drive has died taking all of my sales records. I should be able to reconstruct most from my email records though. Plus a bunch of things happening in RL. When it rains it pours. Samurai_M lives close to me and can relay important messages. I will be spending the next couple days trying to sort the massive backlog of messages I have at internet cafes.

  7. Awaiting your email, bariaburu. ;)

    Meantime, more pics here.

    http://pony-hp.web.infoseek.co.jp/ASUKA.htm

that asuka toy review makes me cry..waaaahhhhh

Bariaburu, can i still post an order for the Asuka fig? :(

Very sorry, but these were all preorders. Each and every one has a home waiting for it.

Also, I finally figured out what the problem with my computer was. The modem died. I have a new one being sent by my ISP which should arrive in 2 days or so. Untill then I will be using internet cafe access so please be patient.

  8. Hello all, fortunatly the Asuka figs arived earlier than I was told. I guess they were erring on the safe side.

I will be getting shipping quotes based on the addresses you all have emailed me, if there are any who have moved or want it shipped to a different address please let me know.

And the winner of the Gamers limited promo card, chosen by D12 roll is Min! Congrats!

  9. Well, the last batch of Hikaru VF-1J 1/48 non fastpack that I know of in the Osaka area sold out. Volks had a 50-70% off sale today, on EVERYTHING. All the 1/48 were gone by the time I got there, even the 1A Hikaru :( Lets hope for a bundle pack release for the GPB

  10. Howard do you know if Min or Noel are going?

No, have not talked to either of them recently, but based on their most recent posts probably not.

When all else fails, ask them via PM :D

  11. Old school fansubber signing in. Did some stuff in the early 90`s, on an Apple IIc!

I vote for keeping it simple. just using lieutenant instead of adding Mr. or Second before it.

Adding a MISTER before the lieutenant adds a bit of a overly serious tone, it is used slighly differently than the San honoriffic in Japanese.

Keeping it in Japanese and adding addtional subtitles explaining it I am also against. Make it easy to read, trying to get a perfect translation is futile. Try to get a good overall feel for the sub job, and stay faithfull to the overall themes.

  12. hey dont panic just yet. Maybe Noel or some of the members in japan can give us more info. Howard? Rob>? Renato?

Right now, the Shizuoka Hobby Show is in the trade only portion, 12th through the 13th. It wont be open to the public till saturday and sunday. I was debating on going, but its over halfway to Tokyo. Would cost alot to go and dont have enough cash on hand to pick up extra CF`s.

  13. Renato did start a thread on this about a week ago as well, but only 5 people posted there.

Yeah, those were good times. <_<

Bariaburu Faita and Samurai Monkey, or anyone in the Hankyu Railway area may be interested in the "Eureka Seven Stamp Rally" that's going on for another couple of weeks or so (you may have seen the posters on the train). You can win a PSP. And a sticker. Yay. Hell, if you need to come all the way to Katsura to get one, I'll even meet you there since I just moved to Kyoto. I'm in Tokyo at the moment, though, so it'll have to be next week.

Yuck, stamp rallys <_< Silly ploy to get people to ride trains back and forth, and in circles. Sorry I`m going to pass on that one.

  14. Here is a not so surprising development.

1/48 VF-1J Hikarus non fastpack are selling once again, almost gone. The supers are also selling, but not as fast.

Very smart of Yamato to just announce the GPB pack without VF-1J. The retailers who were sitting on dead stock probably are happy.

Where is this dead stock???:huh::blink:

A few days ago i searched all over the net for a vf-1J, and the cheapest i could find it for was $168. Everywheres its sold out, except at hobbyonsale it seems...

    Where else is it availble?

The Volks at Nipponbashi has a small number of the VF-1J Hikaru 1/48. Kotobukiya also has a small number of the super version.

  15. Here is a possible way to find out the answer. What is his nationality? That might give a starting point on how it should be spelled. I was under the impression that he was Russian. And Gloval sounds a bit more Russian than Global. Anyone out there familiar with the cyrillic spelling?

  16. Ok, so it looks like it is a Regult, I would have expected the katakana to be Rigaruto instead of Rigaado but as the saying goes, tomayto/tomahto.

It would make more sense to be 1/72 since their previous destroids were all 1/72. But they were all priced under 10,000yen (except for the monster) so with this one being 28,000yen it will probably be 1/35. Although it is a strange decision, it would be kind of cool to be able to display it with all the military kits availible at that scale.

  17. It seems that next Wonderfest there will be a

    超時空要塞マクロスシリーズ©1982ビックウエスト

    ・1/35スケール 「1/72イメージスケール リガード」 28,000円

up for sale from Patemori-Soba. Somewhat confusing description though. What do you other translators think? "1/72image scale regard?" Regult maybe? Whatever it is its going to be expensive.

  18. hi, i'm interested in getting a low vis, may i just check where i can get it, coz many places out of stock.

    thanks!

You can only get them from ebay or via person-to-person sales. They are completely and totally sold out in every retail establishment known to anyone on this board.

    H

There are still a couple in stock at original retail stores in Japan. Hard to find but not impossible. Almost all of the ones I have found are now in the hands of various Macrossworlders.

I need two more. I realy want to go to Japan now. :(

Two eh? Funny thats exactly the quantity Godzilla bought from me. Come visit me in the Osaka area and I will personally show you around all the good hunting spots. If Rob and Renato are availible we could have a big low vis hunting party going.

  20. and a LOT of diecast!! Anyone remember dancougar? That was just 30$ more. I guess aquerion must be doing super well for them to do this.

Design of the toy and the marketing deals were very likely done before the first episode was aired. Was quite a risk for them to do this.
