  1. Athrun dished out a couple of slaps to Shin. It wasn't gratifying in the slightest, Athrun was the one that came across as an a-hole. And it was episode 16, not 17.
  2. Syndication is already a done deal. http://www.trekweb.com/articles/2005/01/27...8a1333468.shtml
  3. You don't have to wait long. He'll be in a mobile suit in this weeks episode.
  4. A lot of those have been repaired (as you mentioned) or have plausible explainations though - like the Romulans, they don't know yet that they have cloaking devices to make ships invisible, they only know about their prototype holographic camoflague system, and Spock still was the first Vulcan in Starfleet since T'Pol just has some honorary commision thing. The fourth season has taken much more notice of these kind of things. That's why upcoming episodes that will deal with the Klingon head ridges thing and the mirror universe still interest me. No matter how far Star Trek has fallen, it hasn't sunk to nearly the depths Star Wars has. That universe is irreversibly ruined.
  5. For people who wrote the show off a long time ago, it's worth knowing that the fourth season has actually been by far the best season of the show. It's just a shame it finally started tapping into it's potential when it was to late. I hated the first two awful seasons, but after this latest season I'm going to be sad to see it go.
  6. I hope they get hard time in prison. I know some people try to justify giving these criminals money by saying that they get 'rare' or hard to obtain anime like Mazinger, but these parasites almost exclusively pirated Region 1 dvds. Good riddance. Hopefully action against the other companies will follow.
  7. It shits all over the original series at almost every possible opportunity to point out that DYRL is just so vastly better in every conceivable way. I think not.
  8. That certainly was excruciating to read. Quite an awful review that only semi-coherently gets it's point across, and it's a point I don't agree with.
  9. Uh, all of the Gundam Evolve episodes have been "marketing ploys".
  10. I don't know what show you guys were watching because SEED did not have four recaps. It had two and a half. First half of episode 14, all of episode 26 and most of episode 27.
  11. Because some people still have a functioning sense of ethics and aren't scum who rip off the companies who create and make available the anime we enjoy, you cretin.
  12. DYRL has about as much theatrical release success potential as Gundam F-91 did.
  13. That's what people thought about mass produced Zaku's too. One of them belongs to Andy, so it's guaranteed to get some 'hero unit' treatment.
  14. I love that these old classics are getting a facelift and a new lease on life through Destiny. Hopefully this means getting a nice MSiA Destiny Gouf to go alongside the little Zaku army I'm going to have going when those are released.
  15. I don't think either is very good to be honest. I just don't particulary like how the US one promotes so prominantly as "Ghost in the Shell 2" rather than Innocence, seems much tackier.
  16. With Innocence subtitled is what you'll have to make do with. They made a specific decision to release it subtitled only and never made a dub. Samurai Champloo will get a normal mainstream release.
  17. Check Macrossworld's own comparison - http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/video/..._comparison.htm The R2's do not fare well. While they do have, in my opinion, vastly superior color (Animeigo tweaked the colors far too much for my liking, and at times things got badly oversaturated) they are inferior in just about every other regard. Less clarity, more film errors, scratches, poorer encoding, etc.
  18. It does contain all the footage from all the OVA episodes. The dvd is released as "the movie" and runs in one long sequence. The opening and end credits are cut off all the the middle episodes, but each episode retains it's eyecatch. There's no huge black bars obscuring any foreign subtitles. The show is mostly soft-subbed, but does contain numerous hardsubs (music, Marduk language, etc). Video and audio quality are ok. Nothing exactly great, but not terrible either. As far as a better release... if you want English audio/subtitles, there isn't one. The R2 dvds are likely better video/audio quality wise.
  19. ? The background music for the Macross Plus dub is identical, except for episode 4 where Magna had to improvise and replace the music with pieces from earlier episodes due to them not having the original masters available (I forget the exact reason why). It wasn't intentional. The R2 dvd contains the English dub with the music for that episode repaired.
  20. "Mirage colloid is a field of particles held together by a powerful magnetic field. When filled with prismatic particles, it serves as a cloaking device. In an alternate application, filled with beam-deflecting particles, it serves as a protective barrier on the two shields of the Forbidden Gundam" Another application was that mirage colloid style technology is what was used to form beam saber blades, meaning all of them were redesigned to be Junius-7 Treaty compliant after that treaty was put in place. With Shin's shield, when it activates in Force mode, it briefly appears to power up with a ring of energy emiting from the centre of the shield. Shin hit one of the other Gundams with the shield in the second episode and rather than just being a solid impact it appeared to deliver some kind of 'shock' for lack of a better term to the recieving suit. However, it's definately not Forbidden style beam deflecting technology, at least not that has been seen - beam weapon impacts hit the shield directly just like they do to any other regular anti-beam shield.
  21. Uh... lets step back to reality here. SDF Macross is not competition for the Shadow Chronicles. Not now, not ever. The target audiences of the two are polar opposites. Oh I don't know, maybe the vast majority of anime fans who don't watch subtitled cartoons perhaps.
  22. Uh, because he's actually a very good pilot? Are you forgetting he fought multiple Gundams to a standstill as well as surviving relatively unscathed against a gunbarrel equipped mobile armour, in what was essentially his first mission? I don't think Freedom still being Nuclear powered is in question. The core of the mobile suit as well as it's power reactor were still intact in the end, the main things needing rebuilding were the limbs. Given they just happened to have Freedom's dedicated support and repair ship on hand (Eternal) restoring it should not have been a major task.
