  1. My dream gun if I only owned one pistol would probably be the H&K P7M10 .40 Cal, if you're gonna drop 1300 bucks for one pistol that should be it. I'd also like to get my hands on one of the FBI model H&K MP5 chambered in 10MM, or for that matter, the Canadian C7 which is basically an AR-15/M-16, but upscaled, and chambered in 7.62x51.
  2. The only gun I ever fired that I did not enjoy was a .44 Desert Eagle. Too much freakin gun, the recoil wasn't bad at all, it was the loading of that bastard, working the slide back and forth to chamber a round takes two men and a boy, and I am a big guy, strength aint my problem. Never fired the .50 AE Desert Eagle, what can I say, I have no current need to shoot through an engine block My personal favorite handgun caliber is without a doubt 45 ACP, I used to have a Sig P220, and loved it to death, but had to sell it one time when times got hard . I also used to have a Colt 1911 Combat Commander model, but was unimpressed with the quality that came along with the nice steep COLT price tag. My next Gubment model will be a Springfield or a Para Ordnance.
  3. Arrgh, tell me about it. I've been seriously considering this for my next purchase, but the cost is getting pretty scary: 1 - Uberti 1851 Navy - $330 CDN 1 - Kirst cylinder - $250 USD 1 - Rapine .38 hollow base bullet mould - $80 USD 1 - .38 loading die set - $? assorted shipping & handling - $? The only thing in my favor is that the Canadian dollar is the highest it's been in a decade. Which movie did he do cylinder swapping in out of the Spaghetti westerns?. The only one I distintly remember him swapping cylinders in (due to my own lack of memory) was Pale Rider, and that was an 1858 Remington that he had in that film.
  4. Yay, another chance to see stupid ass Keanu Reeves in his tired worn out stoner surfer method of acting, and pay for it!
  5. Of course, the other side of the spectrum should be mentioned as well. The survivalist, apocalypse tomorrow, conspiracy theorist types who are stocking up for the revolution. Trust me, I saw PLENTY of these losers when I worked at the gun shop, and it is they that give responsible gun owners a bad rap. Also, these idiots are why I never bought an "assault" rifle. They go on and on about the end of it all, and the race wars, and the riots, and blah blah, but none of them have an ounce of training, and even less between the ears. So I figure if the end ever really does come, there will be plenty of nice assault weapons lying next to the dumbasses that didn't know how to use them, and I will be able to take my pick. Anyway...so..... Back on topic......
  6. A little known factoid about Taurus. Beretta had a factory in Brazil, where Taurus is made (strange). Due to some dischord, Baretta left. Taurus occupied the same factory, and began producing a remarkably similar weapon, and also, a markedly improved weapon in many ways. Also - having worked in a gun store on a part time hitch, I can tell you that Taurus is OUTSTANDING when it comes to warranty. We had a guy who was cleaning his pistol in his living room, his wife was one of those NIMH types, so she came in, freaked out, and grabbed the upper slide assembly, and threw it out the window, and into a nearby body of water. Long story short, he reported it to Taurus, and they sent him a whole new pistol, in exchange for the remaining parts of his. True story, we handled the exchange through our shop, and they did not charge him a dime. Another stellar company when it comes to warranty - RUGER. They make great firearms to begin with, but they always stand behind their products, to a fault in the opinions of some. Case in point - Baltimore City Police recovered a Ruger Super Redhawk that had been stolen from someone, it was found in the trunk of a car that they hauled out of the bay. The pistol was rusted beyond recognition due to water, Ruger replaced it at no cost to the customer.
  7. Of course, the real reason they are all standing around the poster is probably because they are wondering how many of them he would feed if properly cleaned and dressed out.
  8. Sweet, so it's taller even than my Academy RX-178 MKII
  9. Given their penchant for propoganda, I'm surprised they didn't paint a turban on his head.
  10. Drifand, what's the overall height of that sucker? Must get one....
  11. I held off on subscribing to it for the longest time... I finally subscribed, and have received three issues thus far, so far it's pretty good. But I find that I really don't read the whole thing cover to cover, I mainly just glaze through it, and read the stuff that interests me, then drop it in a magazine file, and forget about it. I have 11 more issues to go, and will make my decision then...
  12. ZIP, ZIPPO, ZILCH, NIX, NONE. Unassed all of em in light of the 1/48.
  13. Screw that, is it hard to be mobile with 10 pound balls of steel?, that combat medic thing is suicide if you ask me, and anyone that can do it scares the hell out of me .
  14. And here's a pic of me firing my beloved 60. I was playing OPFOR that day, hence the East German Fatigues, and International Terrorist look. I got in trouble for lighting up a Humvee, apparently, the Lieutenant inside didn't like me standing in the middle of the road blasting away at them
  15. DOH, how could I have forgotten those!. About the training weapons, the first time I qualified in the MP's, it was on an old (and I mean OLD) M1911A1 made by Remington-Rand. If you held it in your hand, and shook your hand back and forth, you could hear the upper slide assembly rattling back and forth on the frame rails. Horrible. M203 was cool, but not as cool as the MK19. Best thing about the MK19 was that you could cut loose 10 rounds, and they were so slow that you could watch them lob themselves downrange, and since they are grenades, 10 seconds later ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE, where they hit. I qualified with the M9 Beretta, and I think it is a fine weapon in design, however, 9MM is a worthless cartridge. Give me the Beretta 96FS in .40 and I would be happy.
  16. OK, It seems that weapons questions come up pretty frequently, and therefore, I'd like this to be a place where those that can....teach, those that can't...learn, etc. SOME RULES If you are anti-gun, please read only, don't hit us with tons of rhetoric. Noone is forcing you to read this. Let's not have any talk about violence here, nor any advocations of violence. Let's keep the thread civil, and to discussions of mechanics, or aesthetics if possible. OK, so, that being said, this thread is for the weapons nut inside all of us...let's face it, somewhere deep down inside, we've all dreamed of strapping on an arsenal of weapons in a zip, snap, click, cha ching, movie scene, and walking out strapped with weapons, and a rippling, properly oiled torso. BTW - I have had TONS of weapons training, both in the Army, and civilian police world (and both ) so I feel I'm pretty well qualified to discuss this. So, here goes.... My real life favorites....and why..... AK-47 - simple, works all the time, durable as all hell, fires a real bullet. Colt (Springfield etc) 1911A1 - See above. HK G93 - built like a brick shitehouse, fires a real bullet. Sturmgewher 43 - Grandfather of the H&K. FN-FAL - Successor to the all encompassing BAR. M1921A1 Thompson - Man's weapon, not for the faint of heart, or light of loafer. All time favorite. M60 - The PIG, as affectionately called by anyone of us who ever had to hump it through the bush. A tried and true stolen design. (MG42). Sci Fi Favorites Mmmmm M41A Pulse Rifle. The Bat'Leth - Though I would undoubtedly trip over my own big assed feet, and impale myself. Edged Weapons The Katana - Long time student of Iaido here, so I love them, and know how to use them. Lochabre Axe - BRUTAL! The Kurgan's Sword from Highlander - Though it could not practically be made to work, it's cool anyway.
  17. Masterpiece Prime HY2M 1/60 Gouf Sent the e-mail to mumsy last month, complete with links to HLJ, and SpideyJ. She loves one stop shopping, as do I.

  19. Is that a question you really need to ask?? Aren't we ALL sick of the VF-1 line?. I for one would shell out the cash for this instead, especially if later pics look good, the eyes light up, and if the stomach hatch opens and stuff, oh, I'm there!. BTW (and not trying to hijack the thread, but) - Check out this puppy! Get the ultimate Endoskeleton fix...... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3149634127
  20. Edit: No need for this comment anymore.....
  21. It's hard to say... As much as I like Arnold's movies, the stuff that made him so popular (the leadslinger movies) have fallen out of style these days to some extent. In today's anti-gun, overly PC environment, I don't know if he'll ever get close to his original popularity. On the other hand.... Almost every interview I have ever seen or read with Arnold indicates that he looks at each step in his career as a means to reach his ultimate goal. Bodybuilding - Way out of Austria. Movie Star - Way to make money, and become famous. I can almost see Arnold laying his movie career aside. He seems to be very pragmatic when it comes to these things. He knew that bodybuilding was a tool, so he used it, and when he had achieved his goal, he put it down, and focused on the next step. Given that, it seems that he has always had the class to realize when his pinnacle had been reached. I don't think that Arnold will be out there still trying to play tough guy roles in his 60's. When he gets out of office assuming he only completes Davis' term, he will be almost 60. Now, that's not to say I want to see him turn into a pussy like Clint Eastwood did, no Bridges of Thal on Graz for Arnold I hope. I think he may just decide to go full time into politics, and maybe move up to Congress, though he has stated that he really wants to stay in California. Either way, I can see him staying in the movie biz. Sort of like Connery. Connery didn't even need a credit in Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves for his cameo, he just walked in, and delivered his lines, upped the clout of the movie by 500%, and donated his salary to charity. He needed no introduction, Arnold has already reached that status, so even if that's all he does from here on, I will be happy.
  22. It all depends on how the next three years goes, meaning if he gets re-ellected. My guess is he will be Governor for the next 11 years. Hey, you guys don't get to keep Arnie forever. Start a petition to amend Article II, Section I of the Constitution, and let's get Arnold in the White House!.
