Boy Goonk, If you are able to recast this part in aluminum, I'll be all over you to buy one for each of my 1/48s this is how it should have been from the start anyways, this piece should never have been made out of plastic in the first time. I broke mine because my low viz took a 6 feet plunge down one of my shelves so I am glad only this part broke and it was under extreme conditions so I am not mad at Yamato but I keep hearing about some poor bastards that just folded the backpack properly and broke the hinge under very normal conditions therefore I am now terrified to transform my valks. Anyways, Any recast in any material would be more than welcome.

Forget HLJ, They will reply (in a month...) and tell you they do not have parts anymore. Our best bet for all members here is if someone would recast this part. As a matter of fact, if I knew how to recast, I'd do this part in a heartbeat cause I'd make a fortune with it ! Last time I had to change the hinge, I had to buy a whole new valk and strip it for parts then sold the rest on Ebay.

2003 has been a great year for Macross IMO. The 1/48 line, the M+ reissues, the VT-1 and VE-1, the pencil sharpeners etc.. etc... What does the sithlord know that we should know. It's been a while since we had some kind of update in the news on stuff like the VF-19 FP and other upcomming goodies. Graham, can you tease us a bit. What do you mean inacurate? BTW whats Hikaru's number? I've been applying decals all night between Vanilla rum and stickers, I have to know asap! VIC! The number is 101, and yes the UN Spacy markings seem inacurate on the legs because they look too small IMO. However with a bit more vanilla rum, you may see it a bit bigger...

You know that the Yamato weathering can be removed in 2 minutes with lighter fluid and a towel... It looks awesome like that though IMO.

Agreed, This is definitly my second favorite, the Lowviz being the first one on my list. About the fastpack, there are major differences not all in terms of features but mostly in terms of aesthetics. The color looks really good with the creamy white and clashes less than the darker green used in the DYRL fastpack. For those who have seen the fastpack of the vf-1j 1/60 scale compared to the VF-1S strike 1/60, you'll understand what I mean by color difference because I think they are identical more or less to the 1/48 packs. This is a kick ass toy in any configuration too. I like how the head fits with the fuselage in fighter mode cause it doesn't stick out too much compared to the Vf-1J but a bit more than the Vf-1a who is the flushest of the 3 models. I think I read someone's post where it was mentionned that the plastic seems to be of better quality that the other 1/48 valks. While I agree that it looks more robust, I think it may just be an illusion because usually whiter plastic looks more transluscent and brittle than darker colors. Wow gotta stop writting if I wanna be able to go back home and mess with my 1J Bye

One other bad thing I find with the VF-1J is that now that I have it, I can only think about having a 1/48 GBP1. DAMN YOU YAMATO !!!! GIVE ME BACK MY SOUL !!!
