  1. yeah. from what i saw, miki had a monocle on him while piloting his vf
  2. I can't remember either. I was a kid back then and my attention span was limited to Roy, Max, Minmei, Misa and Ichigo and the Valk's What I can tell you is that Macross was aired on Sat afternoons just after Lot-lot and friends. Sorry only Filipino's will get this comment
  3. Everything that was on the ToolBox top were probably items recovered probably from the damaged aircraft of Giliam and from the pool of blood that was formerly known as Giliam. The earing might have dropped from Alto's possession as he was piloting the VF25. You'd be surprised how many artifacts I can find if I cleaned up my car-seat
  4. I wonder if the pilots have to press a button so that the X-gear doesn't engage the Umbilical Chord. Wouldn't it be funny to see one of the Valk pilots after a hard day's sortie get out of the fighter and forgets to press the button and gets yanked back into the plane LOL
  5. Got a question on the Valkyrie Gunpods... (1)Do they have to be exposed/open in order to fire? Or can they be fired closed? I'm assuming it opens for better heat dissipation (or just to make that more frigin cool to look at) The animation on the episodes appear too fast and I can't tell if the particle fire in fightermode is coming from the gunpod or if its from an internal cannon within the VF's (2)Was the blade sheathed in the gunpod, shield, or somewhere in the Valk's arm? (3)Seems quite impractical to have a Sniper Weapon in mechanized combat. Especially when the enemy can close the gap from the sniper within seconds. Wonder what a sniper would use to defend himself should the enemy get in too close.
  6. If you read page 1 of this thread, the initial post will be updated should a sub be released. So if you wanna avoid all the gooey bits just stick to checking out page1 of this thread.
  7. Could you just explain it to me (about Luca and Mik)? I'm not a fan of manga and don't want to go sifting (not knowing where to look) and over read into plots for the following episodes.
  8. I wanna know something tho... Mikhail and Luca are classmates of Altoh right? It seems they're all pretty good buddies or at the least all of the same School Club or from what I've watched part of the Elite acrobatics team in their school. So at what point were Luca and Mikhail part of SMS and felt like not telling Alto about it? Did those 2 just recently join SMS or have they been training secretively for sometime? Either that or that school has to have a pretty darn good pilot's program for all 3 of them to suddenly be able to jump into the Fleet's latest frontline fighter and pilot it with their eyes closed. Heck altoh didn't even know the VF-25 was being rolled into service 'til he saw it with his own eyes. I bet even todays Top F-18 veteran pilots can't just suddenly jump into an F-22 or F-35 and miraculously know how everything works. Ofcourse this is anime and if Amuro Rei and Ichigo have taught us anything, as long as your the main character, even if you are a greenhorn, you'll be able to outpilot, outfight and outsurvive CF's that have been doing this thing far longer than you have.
  9. Haha! Yeah I saw it too and almost jumped the gun there too. Part of me inside was wishing that it was actually just a typo on the releaser's part and it was actually ep02. And I'm not even the type who anxiously awaits RAW releases. For other anime's I'm quite comfy biding my time waiting for a descent fansub release even if it takes a couple of days but there's something about Macross that makes me a 7 year-old again
  10. Hey a fellow pinoy. I too first fell in love with Macross as it was aired in the Philippines dubbed in english (I think by local actors) on RPN-9 in the mid 80's. The hard part of watching Macross at the time was that the broadcaster of the show would just show the episodes at random order and not in succession. The thinking back then was these cartoons (GI Joe/ Tranformers/ He-Man) were 1-shot 30 minute episodes you could watch in any order as opposed to Japanese Anime where one episode linked to another in succession. That being said my initial Macross experience was a jumble of episodes with nary a faint an idea how they were in order. My love for the series was further re-inforced when my dad bought me a SuperVF-1S from a trip to Japan. Those things cost an arm and a leg back then (now they sell for an entire body), and had metal parts and stuff that could choke a 5 year old. Being a kid, I played with that thing along with my transformers until I broke it, the ussual kid stuff like coloring that thing with a magic marker, breaking off the antenae, ripping the arms off. A couple of years later they even gifted me an Elint Seeker of the same scale. Broke that thing too eventually... sigh if I only knew then what I know now. One year we went to the USA for vacation and my cousin was telling me to wake-early in the morning to watch this fantastic robot show called Robotech... When he showed it to me I was wondering what he was all a fuss about as it was Macross I've seen a year earlier. Never the less he too was hooked and on my first exposure to Toys R Us I snagged me a Robotech Jolly Green Giant. Was looking for valkyries but none were in sight... there were a bunch of destroids though and a SkyFire transformer but nothing Macross or what I knew of it. That's when I started getting confused. Things further got confusing when I went back to the Philippines and my buddies were playing Pen n Paper Battletech. I was reading their book and was astounded by images of Macross Mecha renamed to Battletech mechs. I was astounded when I saw a Hornet and told them "wtf?!?! that's a frigging valkyrie... Roy's valkyrie!!!" They looked at me with astoundment not knowing who Roy was and what was this Macross I was talking about. This made me really confused as to what really was what... The years would pass and the advent of the internet as well as hanging out with the local comic/manga/anime shop owner clarified some things for me and I began to connect the dots... Just in time for the initial release of Macross Plus in the late 90's and everything made sense. Never the less, no matter what variation came out or which one I was exposed to... it was the Valkyrie's that got me attracted to Macross. I didn't care which story was right, all I wanted to see were those neat jets fight off the badguys.
  11. For collection's sake too. Like many other anime series that I seriously follow, I collect the episodes (None of the Macross shows are ever leaving my HDD). And while there is the DC edition, when the series finally ends and I've got all 50 (hopefully) episodes, I'd like to have episode 1 among them. What I'm wondering now is how many fansub groups will be working on MacrossF? Anime-in-Action already has ep 1 on the books but I don't know if they will be the definitive fansub version. I'm kinda hoping Shinsen comes out with one too as I like what they've done with Gundam 00 and the DeCulture edition. I also hope whichever fansub group I choose, they work at it til the end. I've encountered some fansubbers work on a series only to stop tranlating mid-season.
  12. please clarify I'm inquiring Is there anything in particular why mp4 is bad? Not so techie so I don't know. I'm not really picky as to what extension a vid is release (avi, mp4, mov, mkv, ogm) as long as either VLC or MPC can play it then I'm fine. Is there a particular video effect that is missing from mp4 which is why you don't like it? I kinda am happy that the one being released is mp4... I'll be able to load it up and play it on my i-phone Now I can take Nyan-nyan wherever I go
  13. I'm pretty sure there weren't any robotic tanks in the 70's either. Hehehe just trying to be funny.
  14. I wouldn't mind if they followed the same concept of the Transformer movie and totally create a new story. The Macross saga as it is is too convoluted for a 2 hour film let alone be something appealing to the general public. As long as the movie has jets, jets that turn into robots and explosions... people will come.
  15. Now if you wanna talk Macross influence on gaming, in StarCraft, the voice of the Terran Battle Cruiser sounds distinctly like Cmdr. Gloval. I could swear some of the fantasy aircrafts taken from the Ace Combat games look strikingly similar to some Macross aircraft. Ofcourse it could just be that Jap artists have great imaginations on what fantasy aircrafts look like.
  16. I just plucked this off someone else's blog who was in a Toycon in Japan. He doesn't give specific details and I'm speculating its a Revoltech build cos it was displayed next to a VF-1S that definitely looks like a Revoltech one. kudos to the original source: http://www.dannychoo.com/galleries/eng/
