Let me put my Beer Goggles on.

My only major gripe with the VF-25 is that the swing-wing design doesn't really blend well with the over-all shape of the craft. It would have looked more natural looking like a fixed-wing type like the VF-11. We all know ofcourse that all the VF's are variable-wing to some extent to accommodate transformation and add-ons but this particular model just doesn't seem to go well with the concept. In the OP where you see the VF fly-off with wings fully extended it just looked plain ugly.

It does seem though like Macross:F has an abundance of female characters to keep track of: Lanka, Nana, Sheryl, Sheryl's aide, Cathy, Bridge Bunnies, the VB-6 pilot, the 3 Meltrands, Alto in Kabuki mode... gonna have my hands full to choose which is gonna be my favorite . So is Macross:F adhering now to the SDF:M story as opposed to the M:DYRL story seeing as the 3 Q-rau pilots are reffered to as Zentradi and not Meltrandi?

Another amazing episode down the books I find it great that each episode has a great balance between mecha combat, character development, entertaining homages to its roots, and satisfying soundtrack all packaged in about 30 mins...

I think Kawamori had fully transforming real world Toy counterparts for his VF design in mind this round. Seeing how a toy/model line can infinitely render more revenues for him more than the TV series ever will, he probably had in mind a more practical design that could actually be produced in real-world manufacturing procedures. Especially now that toy manufacturing is now more intricate and accurate and are actually not catered for purchase by 'kids' but by 'collectors', I can see that the VF-25 was designed with that in mind.

Does Luca's VF even have guns? Maybe some EMP's but from the looks doesn't appear that that green little VF is packing any heat. That Radome sure does look though like a big bull's eye. All Luca need to do now is paint a big "Hit Me" on his fighter. And don't diss the Recon/Electronic Warfare specialist. Any of you who've played Chromehounds Multiplayer will appreciate the value of a good tactical weapons officer. Hard enough piloting a mech across terrain avoiding enemy fire but keeping an eye on where the enemy is and giving situational awareness to the rest of your squad at the same time too is harder than anything.

I figure its also the most efficient way to deal with things... nothing goes to waste. And when you're in space Land is a premium... I don't think they really want to dedicate a large pile of it to a cemitary... granted some people do get burried perhaps some are more lucky than others, or have a better life insurance package. Oh and I too am excited for Ep04... only a few more hours to go.

Would'nt it have been faster for Mikhail to jus jet his way into the hull of the ship rather than grapple to it? I too find it unnecesary function wise but added in more for the purpose of flare. I mean if he needed to be in contact with a large mass for better stability in space... then all the other fighters should be too even using standard gunpods.

I hope its a 50 Ep series. 26 eps, only half a year's worth of Macross, then we're gonna have to wait another 25 years for something like this to happen again. I might not be alive anymore for that. Anyway I'm savoring everytime a new episode comes along

With all this talk of M:F being too rehash, if anything... I hope Macross F solidifies the notion to this generation that Macross is MACROSS and not Robotech. That while all Robotech can do is make a crummy 90 minute special 20 years after, Macross can finally branch out of that shadow, and show for it with an amazing series that expands that universe. Maybe it will finally open some peoples eyes that Robotech is a bastardization and finally wake up... hey I still know people who don't believe.

You must have some really ancient rig. I'm using an IBM Netvista P4 that I got in '05 and it can manage to play all the releases. The only one's I can't play as is are the Zero-Raws which I overcome by re-encoding and downscaling. Maybe all you need is a good reformat or some proper codecs. h.264 is pretty much getting standard in video encoding so you're gonna have to adjust to the times.

AnimeOne has comeout with their fansub version of Ep.01 That's 4 English fansub groups doing M:F... that's gotta be a record somewhere.

Now even AnimeONE is in the act with a fasub of Ep01 broadcast Edition. I now count 4 fansubber groups for this series... must say something about its popularity.

Seeing Raw Ep3... I'm pretty much convinced that the sniper weapon is indeed projectile based. Its unclear what the propellant is wether it be magnetized particles (i.e. Railgun) or a form of gunpowder or whatever accelerant but the Episode did show a slug moving at matrix style visuals towards the Vajra. I highly doubt it was a beam weapon of sorts seing as how the hole it created was far larger than the slug. But as I type this I'm now leaning towards it being gunpowder or accelrant based as opposed to a railgun... for the sake that the weapon is Single shot/ semi-auto. A reason for such being that it has to compensate for recoil created by the propulsion of the slug, and probably the dissipation of heat from the combustion. If it was a railgun using magnetics propulsion, you wouldn't need a pause in between shots as there is no friction in space and no recoil created since there is no combustion as the slug is simply being pushed by the weapon through magnets. But then this is all based on Hard Sci-Fi... which is still Sci-Fi as in Fiction so who really knows whats in the head of Kawamori... its still looks cool though.

I'm pretty sure the story will branch out and be its own later on. So far we've only been 3 episodes deep. There's plenty of episodes to come where they can make their own story. Right now they're doing pretty much homages to previous Macrosses, after all the people they want to make the happiest are the fans of the previous ones and what better way than to re-imagine the best parts of the past to get us hooked which they certainly have done. I can pretty much imagine that there will be a Mega-battle towards the end with the protagonist speeding across peril and multiple missiles to finish off the yet an unrevealed antagonist in a Itano Circus flurry... all done to the background cinematic music sung by Lanka or hopefully a duet with Sheryl. A pretty much given formula in all Macross. Just because I've seen it all before doesn't mean that I'm not gonna watch it and be giddy waiting for it :D

Is that nose cone made out of wood or carbon fiber? to my knowledge carbon fiber shatters not unfurls.

I think their Life Insurance coverage includes blow-up dolls or wax-figure replicas of themselves when this sort of thing happens Ofcourse it cold also be that all they recovered from Giliam was his severed Head seeing as how his helmet was still intact in the hangar and they just propped it into a manequin. My morbid side is getting the best of me again hehehe. Imagine the mortician who had to do that gig. I can pretty much imagine this has happened before in cases of motorcycle accidents.

Yet again another entertaining episode. Animation for Lanka at some parts were a bit wonky though. So far this series is really impressing me on the soundtrack department. I can see them milking us with multiple cd's. Can't wait as well for the sub for the stuff I can't quite pick out.

Ah took all of 15 mins for me to DL the raw... have to wait another 30 mins though as I downscale the sucker so i can watch it without it skipping on me.

Those things practically run by computers... the WinXP that was controlling the aelerons probably got a BSOD and they ended up with a US$2B bonfire.
