Thought about starting a thread for this myself when I heard the news, but the next Terminator project is sooooo embryonic..... Anyway. Seriously. What are we really hanging out for with the next film: a) The return of an aged Arnie. b) A film with a great script, fantastic action and some good acting.

If true, I would suggest it was confirmation of the theory I suggested back in post #150. That Ridley is trying to make an Alien film in stealth mode, until they are ready to go with promoting it. He's probably trying to take some heat off the production as well as deflecting nosy alien fans who can be a fickle bunch to say the least. Besides, I think its much more likely that the studio would financially back another film in the Alien series rather than something new.

I don't think that there is a consistent policy. It seems to follow the pattern you mention. Ones that are more likely to be locked are ones that become "disrespectful" to the person who has died. At least, that is the pattern I have noticed.

Shocking news today, especially when you consider that she has been working pretty much right up to the end. Elisabeth was originally a companion for 3rd Doctor Jon Pertwee in Doctor Who, she was especially famous as the first companion for Tom Baker's 4th Doctor. She was cast as a more "feminist" style of companion, trying to break some of the stereotypes that had become commonplace with previous companions, (Sex symbol, screamer, etc) and she generally did so successfully. One of the most popular companions ever, she returned to Doctor Who in "The Five Doctors", the short lived spin off "K9 and Company", and in the "new" series in 2006. Soon afterwards Elisabeth was cast in her own spin off series, "The Sarah Jane Adventures" in 2007. Details are vague at the moment, but the stories are claiming that she has died after a battle with cancer. She was one of the great women of SF and she will be missed.....

Worst character EVAR!!!! I believe that he was "exclusive" to the novelisations, and was part of that whole "protoculture shaping" thing or whatever it was, that took up a lot of page space in the novelisations but never appeared in anything that had been animated. It made the Southern Cross novelisations an especially hard read......

Going by what I've heard, "Rise of the Apes" was the original title but it was changed to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" fairly recently. (The new, longer title was announced on April 7.) I think its all simply to do with brand recognition.

I think that in the third Tron film, for no apparent reason, Cillian Murphy will break up his fathers empire........

My thoughts exactly. It looks very promising. (love the shot of the apes swinging through the trees.) It *really* surprised me though because I thought it was still in development hell and years away, not about to be released in 4 months. The Weta effects look great too. I wonder which ape Andy Serkis will play?
