  1. Best line.... "John Doe has the upper hand" And you are sitting there thinking "What the hell??"
  2. Speedy guitar version of the original Amiga Speedball theme!!! FTW!!!!
  3. Hang on, after a year of rubbishing everything that moves, this doesn't get the instant "NO!" verdict? You've gotta be kidding me!!??
  4. Yeah. It would have been great if they had recovered some Hartnell stuff but I think that the Troughton era has the most missing episodes, so I think that this was one of the best possible results. There are still murmurings of more stuff having been found, but that still has to be considered as unconfirmed rumors....
  5. Finally the truth comes out. NINE! Patrick Troughton episodes have been recovered, including ALL of the missing episodes from "Enemy of the World" and most of the missing episodes from "The Web of Fear". (There is still one episode missing from that story, D'oh). All in all, a very big haul and an excellent way to celebrate the 50th anniversary. It brings the total number of missing episodes down to 97. While it is for certain, realistically, that they will never all be recovered, it gives us hope for the future......
  6. CHARLES FOSTER KANE from "Citizen Kane" He starts off as an idealist but slowly falls into the ruthless pursuit of power. Even with all that power and wealth, he knows that there is a gaping hole in his life he is unable to fill, only in his last moments with his dying breath does he realise his loss....
  7. Yeah, that's why he is the "anti-hero". If he was just or righteous he would be the "hero". A lot of anti-heros can be pure evil or pretty close. Look at Travis Bickle or Tony Montana.
  8. WILLIAM "D-FENS" FOSTER from "Falling Down". Come on, admit it, the scene in the fast food restaurant alone makes it clear that in some deranged way, we are supposed to be on his side. (Everybody in the Western world knew what he was talking about and which burger chain was the real target of the rant) Oh, and he kills that Neo-Nazi dude.
  9. Here's some more..... ALEX from "A Clockwork Orange" Psychopath, rapist, murderer, we should hate Alex DeLarge with a passion, but instead, by the end of Kubricks vision of A Clockwork Orange, we essentially see him as a sympathetic/pathetic character, stuck in the middle of events far beyond his control (This is a common theme for antiheroes....) and let down by a system that was meant to help him. JULES from "Pulp Fiction". A cold and ruthless hired killer, or something else? Not even Jules himself knows for certain but he clearly suspects that he is capable of more. Perhaps he is even capable of good?
  10. Nancy Vandal are back in all of their rough and ragged glory.......YEAH!!!! Future of the Left is back as well, with their own form of rough and glorious music.....
  11. Same for general SF and fantasy as well. I also think that Hollywood isn't a particular fan of comedy as well. In fact, Hollywood studio's hate anything that could be considered "risky" If Hollywood had its way all we would get would be "gritty" drama's day in day out.
  12. PC's are dirt cheap. I am sitting here with two operating and I am certainly considering getting a third dedicated to gaming, so yes, experimenting with another operating system is certainly something that I am up for. Like I said, I am also waiting for google/android to give it a go as well. Several years ago nobody would have questioned the dominance that Nokia and Apple held over the phone/smartphone market, at look at what's going on now. Things can change, and very quickly if the product is out there.
  13. Funny. I've been waiting for Google/Android to announce their own operating system for the PC. (Yes, I know it's Linux based) It's only been a matter of time until true competition to Microsoft emerged.....
  14. Yeah, the telegraphing of the plot in the trailers was a problem, I will certainly agree with that. Not a good idea. Agree on design, of course. Outstanding work. SF films/ literature being derivative doesn't bother me since most ideas are just stolen from Wells, Verne, Mary Shelley and a few of the other big SF pioneers. My main problem, rather than the plot and/or plot holes (which I will admit are there, but didn't bother me) is just some of the hokey dialogue and that comes down to scriptwriting rather than actual plot problems. Still think that it's an excellent film overall, so our opinions differ there.
  15. Forget it. Just watch this instead...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BGu9HESMuI
  16. Could listen to Hunters & Collectors all night..... The Saints. Brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLbyaNbhHdU
  17. Never saw Dragon. Too bad, really. This is one of the ultimate pub anthems..... Bit of "Hunnners"!!!
  18. I have no problems with your list, but I was referring more to 2010 onwards, otherwise I would have mentioned some of the films you did. I have no problems with the three films of mine that you left out anyway. No question to me (and plenty of others), they are good films as well...
  19. OK Duke, I expected that. The balls in *your* court. What would you recommend then......??
  20. Watched it again on Blu-ray last night with the wife. I think that the M83 soundtrack is one of the most underrated or least discussed parts of the film, which is a pity as the soundtrack was truly awesome. The studio/production team clearly recognised this by giving us a "music score only" audio track on the disc. Don't think I could watch the entire film like this, but for sequences like the intro it's really nice. The last song played over the closing titles is really good too. Stops you from just turning it off when its over. I love this film as well. It fits in well with the SF "classics" we have had so far this decade like Inception, Tron:Legacy, Looper, Elysium, etc........ These are all films that show up Star Wars to be the "kiddie" stuff that it is. SF can be a beautiful dream, not just 'droids and aliens shooting each other.... The closing song, brilliant....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mkUp1V3ys0
  21. Yeah, that's about as good as the cameo in the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy movie of the original Marvin the Paranoid Android costume, that make you think "Why the hell didn't they just use the original design then instead of that poxy thing with the giant head???"
  22. My little Max is a good boy, aren't you Max? Mojo, however, is a lazy little dumbarse....
