  1. They have XBoxes in public display! I'd heard that just didn't happen. Big as it is, it took me a while to find the Macross 0 poster. Eyes kept wandering up a bit to Ghost in the Shell 2 every time I got close.

YES! GIVE ME MY DEATH TOROID!
  3. From what I'd heard before, I thought Macross was kind of like Star Trek. Not amazingly popular, but whenever a new one was released it was a sure sell. ... Of course, Paramount's nearly killed Star Trek at this point, and Big West hasn't nearly killed Macross.
  4. *rubs ears* You're as bad as Exedol.
  5. Yah. Furthermore, the humans had the home field advantage, so to speak. First we were fighting to get back home, and then when Bodolzaa's fleet arrived we were quite literally fighting for the survival of not just our way of life, but of our entire species. Not ideals, not loved ones, we were fighting against extinction. Nothing to inspire you like knowing that if you fail, all of humanity will die. The Zentradi, as you say, were fighting for the sake of fighting, as knowledge of culture and the devastating effects it had on Zentradi society was restricted to the highest ranks(Bodolzaa told Britai and Exedol personally, and they told their allies, and that's likely as far as the knowledge went). Had this knowledge been more widespread, they would've been fighting for survival too. Note that the "contaminated" Zentradi fighting alongside the Macross in the final battle of Space War 1 seem to have put up a good fight, in that they survived against mind-numbingly incomprehensible odds. ... Granted their opponents were reeling from culture shock, but they still had a staggering number of guns to shoot. If only 1 in a thousand ships had bounced back enough to fight after being bombarded with j-pop and seeing the Grand Cannon obliterate some 750 thousand ships in a matter of seconds, that's still something like 3:1 against.
  6. Thought: The low-vis is pretty clearly an atmospheric paint scheme, as space is NOT gray(not that bright white is exactly the best choice...). It stands to reason that there wouldn't be low-vis FAST packs, as they wouldn't be low-vis if they matched the plane. Having said that, they look pretty good.
  7. Strategy RPG.
  8. The latter MAME emulator will give the game sound. There is only one Macross Plus ROM. The sound just hadn't been emulated until recently. And I suggest getting MAME32, with has a much nicer windows GUI. The original MAME is just uses the DOS command line. Although it works the same, for those who are less computer inclined, MAME32 can be easier to configure. I LOATHE the MAME32 GUIs(as there's now TWO versions of MAME32). If you need a GUI, grab the Windows command-line MAME and the EmuLoader frontend. It's a FAR nicer frontend.
  9. As a sidenote: I really think it's stupid to just go "OMG THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT LIVE ACTION FILM!" It wouldn't. Not everything was meant to be live action. It's just the nature of things. Get over it.
  10. And with everyone going "Uh?" and Huh!" all the time?
  11. Alpha and Alpha Gaiden ONLY, as I understand it. SRWD, which was released somewhat recent, has Macross 7 in it (VF-22s, VF-17s, VF-19s, the Macross 7, a VF-11 Full Armored, a VF-11, a VF-1J, and Sound Force are all units). Interesting. What's D on?
  12. Thought: Be bold. Be daring. Do Mylene in street clothes.
  13. Geez, you'd think people didn't know how to use a search engine. It's the first link if you search for MAME.
  14. Alpha and Alpha Gaiden ONLY, as I understand it. But ya gotta love any game where you can unload your choice of super robot whoop-ass on your choice of cannon fodder. ... Too bad Golion(AKA lion Voltron) is so utterly forgotten over there. I'd love to slice some stuff up with teh sword, just for the memories.
  15. You could, I duno, BUY it? www.ncsx.com has it. http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/SLPS-91408.html <- PS rerelease http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/SLPS-02636.html <- Ps original release http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/T-20602M.html <- Dreamcast release

    ps2 hard drive

Nothing at all except in cases of games that support it. FF11 REQUIRES the harddrive. It uncompresses large amounts of data to the drive much like a PC game would.
  17. The last 2 or 3 MAME releases have had MacPlus sound.
  18. Or it could be an open matte/full frame transfer. They actually use 4:3 film to MAKE the movies, and then crop them to 16:9. And with home sales being so big, a lot of movies are made keeping both the central 16:9 stripe AND the full frame in mind. It's likely that's what happened with Macross Plus. They drew the full frames while keeping the theaterical letterboxing in mind. If it bothers you, just tape some black strips of paper along the top and bottom of your TV.
  19. So THAT'S why holodecks are so popular on Star Trek.
  20. That is obviously a different kind of love. That's open to debate, but I believe it was the same kind. It wasn't that she didn't feel "that way" about Guld, but she prefered Isamu. But Isamu refused to grow up, and he wasn't available anyways(having just entered into a relationship with Lucy). So she settled for Guld, who was both more mature and open.
  21. It doesn't have to...with some celing track and some electric motors, you could have a formation of 1/48s flying around in the air! That would kick SO much ass. Yeah, until one hit you in the head...... Yah... "Ummm, duck on the way in. I've got planes flying around on the ceiling."

  23. I gave it a go recently and watch about the first 5 or 6 episodes. Some of th stuff I liked (hey, it's Macross!), but Basara and his song was too much for me. But for those who like it, enjoy! But for me, I'll stick to the original, Mac+, and Zero Interestingly enough, I saw Basara as a sort of hook. My reaction was "what the HELL is wrong with this boy?!?!" Followed by genuine curiosity.
  24. But she did. At least if Sharon can be believed, and as I understood things Sharon was a rather reliable source as far as analyzing Myung's emotional state went.
