  1. Just when I thought I had everything I wanted for the 1/48 line up until the debut of the 1/60 version 2. After my first purchased of the VF-1A Strike Valkyrie (H Ichijo) for $97 bucks shipped, I was SOLD! I love the new 1/60 line so much that I dropped about $2,500 bucks in one month (June '09).

That said, my feelings for the 1/48 line has little interest with the exception of the LV1, LV2, and the Stealth Strike Valkyrie set. So my question to all: How has the new 1/60 affect you?

    Here's what I bought:

    1. Super Osterich x 4

    2. VF-1D x 4

    3. Destroid Defender x 4

    4. Destroid Tomahawk x 4

    5. Strike/Super set x 6

    6. VF-1S Strike H. Ichijo

    7. VF-1A Strike H. Ichijo

    8. VF-1J Super H. Ichijo

    9. VF-1S Max DYRL

Man, just when I got caught up on the 1/60 I took a look at what I am going to have to spend before the summer over; close to $1000.00 with everything coming out that I want. Thank God Macross toys are my only vice I have when it comes to collecting toys.

  2. Here you go - pre-built diorama set

1/72 scale. Start building those 1/72 Hasegawas and Bandai kits!

Personally I hope Yamato revisits the 1/72 scale sometime in the future. It'd make things sooo much easier (scale wise).

Maui wowy!!! I didn't see where you could order any of these. (had my screen minimized and couldn't see the pre-order area) So these are already pre-built and painted right? If so I need to figure out a way to order a few sets! Thanks for sharing!

  3. When I first saw the MG's I thought they were the most outrageous in design and did not understand what was so great about them. They have grown on me since learning about Macrss and have become one of my favorite Valks. Hope to have one some day.

  4. me too, i want these in 1/60 scale!!!!

if Yamato makes these, it will be impossible to resist. (just don't make them exclusives!!!)

thanks Kicker for sharing. ^_^ more pics if possible... :)

EDIT - edited after re-reading MM's very selfish post, lol  ...j/k :p

Very selfish indeed! As much as I like the new 1/60's I am still a diehard 1/48 fan at heart. Even though Yamato never made any exclusive MG Valks, with anasazi's 1/48 decals and a good customization job you truly get an exclusive. Here's hoping Yamato sleeps on the MG's for the new 1/60's. ^_^

Uh, did you mean you hope they DO create these in 1/60? I really hope they do, I'd be all over that.

I won't be too disappointed if they are made in the new mold. I actually have a strong inclination that Yamato will commission a company to create a limited number of both. Cancel all the silly exclusive weathering Valks. This truly would be worth shelling out the extra cash for in my opinion. I love these in battroid mode and they would look kick ass in the new VF-1S mold.

  5. He was definitely a weirdo, with a serious plastic surgery fetish, but there's no denying his contribution to pop music/pop culture.

Yeah, aside from his weirdness later in life, those who grew up watching and listening to him in throughout the 80's can't deny his musical talents. I still remember my neighborhood playground clearing when the Thriller video was scheduled to come on MTV at a certain time. Games of H.O.R.S.E and Kill The Man came to a halt about 5 minutes till the start of the video whenever it aired.

Odd to think that Macross was in its hay day when he was at the top of his game. Happy to have all his music. He's going to be missed by many.

  6. nope because those guys aren't going to pay enough to make up for the lost time and space. Think about what land costs in Japan or hell anywhere with enough of a transportation system to allow for quick and easy international shipping. Do you really think they're going to cut the useable real estate of a shelf by 50 or 75% just on the off chance GHQ is going to order? And do you think GHQ would be willing to pay the several thousand dollar premium to make up for that lost space and decreased worker productivity?

I can tell you, performance in the backroom is measured in seconds. We calculate out how fast a worker can pick, sort, package and place on a palette down to a fraction of a second. I'm in no way exaggerating here. Part of a stock room worker's evaluation is to see how closely he can meet those theoretical goals. We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars (easily for a small company) or more for the latest software that tracks sales and creates optimized floor plans and stock placement. Stock is cycled every time new merchandise is brought in which can be several times per day for high volume operations.

Just in our stock room, a single day would see 2-3 deliveries, several hundred next day air shipments and 3-6 thousand regular shipments with 4-5 items per order processed by a stock room team of around 10 full time employees.

I crashed and burned last night after all this discussion took place.

I've worked in a warehouse and a distribution center before and what's mentioned above is not always the case. The Sharper Image distribution center is based in Little Rock and I worked there as a warehouse worker during their Christmas help season to earn extra money. Talk about seeing loads of cool gadgets by the truckloads! There was always a constant flow of inventory being delivered, unloaded and staged in the warehouse and not all items were opened.

Here's a funny example. I was working in the smaller "hand-pick" area. Of all things I was preparing for shipment was a device used to exercise Kegal muscles (Google it ;) ). I should have taken down some of those addresses of the women they were being delivered to! ;) Anywho, some orders were for multiples those were the easiest to prepare for shipment because you only had to grab a case and slap the shipping label on the box. No tedious packing for a single Kegel :p .

All my shipments from HLJ have come to me just fine with their packaging methods, but it seems to me that it would make more sense to keep some products packed because it makes for easier and safer shipping for multiples of the same item if the items are kept in their original cases that were designed to protect its contents. Besides that if a store has to RTV (return to vendor) an item, their loss isn't as great because the distributor is able to re-distribute case fresh product.

I think what eugimon has explained above is the case with HLJ though. I watched the video that was posted in another thread about HLJ's warehouse. Most items were removed from their case "stocked" or staged rather for picking. Their fast moving products were placed on pallets in their cases for easy access to speed up the shipping process.

  7. Eh... as someone who's worked in the back room before, when the delivery truck comes in EVERYTHING gets broken down. Stock shelves aren't designed to accommodate manufacturer's shipping boxes and we don't have time to check and see if there's some fussy customer who wants the "original factory case" and even if we knew about it, we wouldn't care.

A modern stock room is being constantly reshuffled with more popular items and fast movers having priority and sale and clearance merchandise moved around. Stock shelves and shelf real estate are vital and we're not going to waste precious space trying to keep keep a case of 2 deep x 2 high intact on the off chance someone is going to order it like that.

The time it takes to rebox those items for shipping is minimal and the wasted space would hardly make up for whatever convenience would come out of those rare orders.

Yeah, but seeing that you are catering to overseas collectors who might be intetested in a "case pack" at least offer as an alternitive and re-coup your costs if any....at least that is what I think.

  8. Try ordering $1000- bucks worth of toys. They work alot faster than train wreck!

Anyways, too bad they don't ship my stuff in their original factory cases! Fukkers.....

I guess I can understand that to have each case checked after packaging for insurance purposes but at least re-package the items in their origingal packaging if its being bought as a case.

  9. What do you expect the show was made in mono.

The same could be said for some older movies. I believe Star Wars was one of the first movies to use Dolby Stereo and they were able to re-do the sound in 5.1 as was the Macross SDF-1 DVD's by ADV. Only someone that might be distracted by the new sounds would be me as my son is clueless. :D

  10. But season 1 is only 16 eps so it makes since it is only 20 dollars or less

True that, but my hope is that the other seasons will be released as well. That way I can get actual US versions off all the episodes. Having the original box set would be majorly cool, but at this point I just want the original episodes to sit and watch with my son on the big screen. Hopefully its been digitally remastered and maybe has 5.1 sound to enjoy in the man cave!

  11. Not sure if anyone posted about this already. The season 1 DVD of Transformers is out in the stores since Tuesday. I picked it up at Best Buy for $19.99.

HOLD UP!!! WTF?!?!?! The entire 1st season is available on DVD now for only $19.99??? I will stop by Best Buy on my lunch break tomorrow to cop a copy! Do you know if the other seasons will be released? I've been checking online for the box set but keep coming up with the Japanese version and it is outrageously price. Got to start checking my Sunday ads! Thanks for sharing the info!

  12. Unfortunately, MacrossMan is right. Due to UCLA's policy, we aren't allowed to sell things on campus BUT we are looking into ways to get around this. We may have "Donation" boxes next to some potential vendors where you can donate money, and receive an item for your donation. Still working out the details of this. However, we usually have some vendors attend, but not a huge amount of kits and vintage stuff for sale.

But tons of cool displays for sure!

Will there be any raffle tickets to purchase like last year to help support the con for members who are not able to attend or just want a shot at winning something cool?

Surely you guys are going to have some expenses; if not put the funds towards the next con or the guys who helped set it up can treat yourselves to evening out or something as a token of appreciation.
