  1. Well my order finally arrived today, here are the pics of them (boxed unfortunately as of this posting I had to rush out the door, and could not open them, got called into work, Ill display them later and pose them for pics, also some are Yamatos but what the heck they were in the box together) Unfortunately the SV-51 Ivanov and, 1/60 Roy with Strike Set havent arrived yet.

PS dont knock my camera skills to much I didn't have alot of time.

They will be joining the ranks of the Yamato 1/60 Roy VF-0S w/Ghost , SV-51 Nora, Queadlunn-Rau Miria,

Yamto 1/72VF019A VF-x2, Yamato 1/48 Super & Strike Parts for VF-1 Valkyrie, VF-1S Roy, VF-1A Cannon Fodder, VF-1 Armored Set.

Hey he is also shipping me a small box with a replacement part for the VF-25G set from Bandai themselves, have you guys heard of that? He says they gave one out per every VF-25G that the dealers like him had to use to replace a part that quality control identified as easy to mess up on the VF-25G. He didnt say what part it was other than it was small.

Damn! What a haul! I can remember those purchases when I first started collecting. Nothing like coming to the office (and home sometimes once the wife realized I had a new hobby) and seeing a nice huge box from Japn full of goodies! Congrats! You will be happy with all those!

  2. I am mostly a display oriented collector and i display my toys rather then constantly play with them. So looks is probably the most important thing to me. And in that department Yamato delivers 200% atleast for me.

I can easily fix a couple of qc issues (Not that i have had many of them) but i can't really fix an ugly design (Bandai DX VF-25)

I own one DX VF-25 and everytime i watch it without the armor i just gets so irritated over how ugly and hideous Bandai designed it in all modes so i can easily live with a few qc issues if it means it looks great.

I also have great respect for all the advanced engineering Yamato have put into some of its VF's (PT heatshield on VF-11 to name one example).

All i can really say is Yamato is not for everyone, but it is for me.

That is basically my view as well. I found a few minor issues but they are minor. I know some people can have a hissy fit on these things. I think these might be the same people who have a hissy fit if the toy isn't 100% anime accurate. Sure I believe there has been a some major defects in some versions but I haven't one of these myself.

I have to agree with the comments here. Most of my collection sits in open glass cubes next to a window. Although the blinds are kept closed and I keep Valks with color closest to the window there are days where sunlight is coming in, but I have not experienced any yellowing on any of my Valks (knock on wood...knock knock!). Mind you I have only been collecting since January 2008 so most of my stuff is fairly new, but never played with; only displayed. I think what initially drew me to the Yamato brand of Valks was the innovation and accuracy of the "toy". Since learning more about the hobby I have seen that models make the toys look like; well toys, but they are still magnificent to look at.

  3. This is one exclusive that I dont' even care about. I think the best explaination was cotton balls exploding with cigarette tips or somethin to that nature. Anywho, the exclusiveness of these parts are disappointing to say the least. No lost on my part at least. If you're going to make something truly exclusive make somethin iconic like Hikaru elevating out of the VF-1D trainer! Ya listenin' Yamato! HUH? HUH? HUH????

  4. man, I hate all this web exclusive crap.

Not gonna get the it... one, it looks like ass, it looks like foam and not smoke, like it had a chest full of shaving cream cans that exploded. two, I'm boycotting all web exclusives. I hate the practice.

LMAO!!! I was thinking the exact same thing. Looks like flippin' clouds coming out the armor's chest. Really kinda silly looking.

  5. Just got my decals!

They're shipped in a normal envelope with the decals backed to a cardboard card, then wrapped in a single layer of bubble wrap. Nicely done!

After unwrapping the decals, I got a bit scared when it looked like the tops of the decals were cracked. Sort of a spider web/cracked glass effect. Upon closer inspection, I think this is just the top clear coating. Not sure if this will be a problem as it will probably soften once they're exposed to water and I'll likely be putting a clear coat over the top of the toy when I'm done anyway. But I've noted it, just in case.

My worries about the white were completely unfounded. The white looks very white indeed. The pics on the ebay page are either of an older version or who knows. There are no black bordered decals for the tail surfaces at all.

Last minor complaint is the dots that are a bit obvious on the yellow. They're so small that you would never see then unless really inspecting it up close though.

Hopefully it's obvious from the photos but just in case, the carrier film is very close to the decals. These are very nicely done!

Here are some pictures taken with my crappy digital. David: There's a closeup of the instrument panel for you. Ignore the bluey/purpley cast, it's normal for this camera.

Mostly everything mickyg said above. Even without the VF decals I think it's a nice set for the money. I might even try my hand at applying them this weekend.

  6. Might as well just drive there?

LOL JC! I think he's just a kid man. He might get in trouble if gets behind the wheel of a car. The deal offered at this year's con was killer! 10 bucks per stand? Can't beat that with a bat. B))

  7. Thanks everyone. I took sometime off about 3 years ago, that was it. Ever since then I have always had a custom on my bench to do. I work at my own pace so I don't get burned out. Besides if I flood the market with customs your grandchildren will never appear on Antiques Roadshow in 50 years getting a "Kurt" custom appraised. LOL

And that my friend is what make these are so special. Nothing like good old fashioned nostalgia. I know I'm a selfish SOB for wanting the Kurt custom MG's, as well as some others, to remain exclusive to 1/48 scale. I am so hoping the Stealth, MG, or LV variations don't make it to the Yamato 1/60 production factory.

  8. I'm not sure about you, but I'm serious when I say that.

I am dead serious when I say leave exclusive to the 1/48 fans.

I agree, a different stealth scheme sure, but it should't be a micronized clone of the 1/48 stealth.

    I can ride with that.

No?!? Why not? Maybe like a 1S Stealth instead of a 1J. I REALLY like the stealth scheme on the 1/48 and think a 1/60 would be to die for. I am just curious why you guys would not like it?

I can ride with this too, just leave something exclusive to the 1/48 mold so that it eventually has some nostalgia. I mean take the 1/55 chunkies and everything cannon was done. There were no exclusives done in 1/55 except the CC Valk if my memory serves me right. I'd like to see the non-cannon Valks made in 1/48 scale remain exclusive to 1/48. Although it probably won't happen, it would be cool if it did.

Can US buyers bid on Ebay France auctions?

  10. They are pretty sweet aren't they!?! I got them from Valk009 for $40 USD shipped registered from HK. Such a great and quick deal it was. Everything was sealed up all brand new. AWESOME! And now I just received this CMs Minmei Doll from save. She is so cute!

Edit - Does her "pose" remind you of anyone?:D

    CMsMinmei.jpg

I'm hearing heavenly hymns from afar....

  11. more pictures

That second picture gives me the impression that the "Parts" are going to be sold by themselves! Box appears to be upright and probably about the same size as current Valk boxes. If we had a side view of the box that would give a better idea. I'm certain this will be released as a set because of the gray visor and plan on getting it, but would like to have a set for the TV version as well.

    Hopeful... ^_^

  12. 1) Why nozzle for the nozzle?

    2) hands will get longer?

    p.s.

48 scale of all this, no

Damn. Looking at that picture leads me to believe that the armor is made to specifically attach to the include cartoon hands. Looks like the original hands will have to be removed and that forearm cover piece will go over the "nubs" where the hands normally are. The included hands will then be attached???

Man, that is going to suck in a major way. If this is the case modifying them to work with the DYRL hands might not be too much a challenge, but damn why would Yamato do this?
