Macross Δ (Delta) - Mission 26 -Finale - READ 1st POST
Isamu Starkiller replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I don't usually post opinions imidiately after a movie, TV series, Anime series until I digest it for awhile. So I have had enough time....I did not enjoy this series very much, I never really got invested with any of the characters Walkure, Windermereian or otherwise. The conclusion felt hollow, the music was not good. -

I spotted that also, I found it interesting there was no mention of the events in M0. I think there's a connection between Sarah Nome the Windmereans and Mikumo!I think Lady M is either Mao or Misa. -

That's an interesting theory, I have noticed there are things in Delta that seem like hints towards Opposites attracting...the most obvious being Hayate and Mirage...although Hayate is completely oblivious at this point. I'm also loving the juxtaposition of humanity being seen as the invading force (threat to their culture) to the Windmereans. As others have mentioned I hope there is a connection between the Windmereans and M0, Sarah Nome and the Mayan Legends!- 273 replies

I prefer Coke over Pepsi, but I don't think we can list Coke in the cookbook as it's not clearly visible....plus it's Coke I doubt they had permission to use that product. -

With the franchise's new found level of popularity, now might be the best time to revisit the roots of the franchise....old school fans would appreciate it and newer fans that have just discovered Macross via Frontier would get to see the characters we all love! What would happen if Minmay, Sheryl & Ranka & this new idol all sang Nyan Nyan simultaneously in different regions of the galaxy!- 2715 replies

I'm excited for the new series! I really like some of the ideas being thrown out there! I wonder if we'll see the same galactic map we saw in MF but perhaps following a different Colony Ship. Maybe we'll get some new recipe's for the Decultcha Cook book lol!- 2715 replies

I enjoyed the Wings of Goodbye, but I think if a fan of Macross, that some how missed the series, saw the movie they might not enjoy it as much. In my opinion The differences between MF --> MFWOG are not as poignant as SDFM --> DYRL. The characters are significantly better realized in MFWOG than in the series, most notably Alto, Ranka and Sheryl, I remember watching the series along with the rest of the MW forum members and feeling like they were developing the characters as they went. In the movie the three seemed like they were finally truly realized. I think old school fans, fans of SDFM/DYRL will have issues with the surfing Macross Quarter, I was like WTF but went with it, and it really didn't detract much from my enjoyment of the movie. The animation quality was superb from start to finish, the songs were good but I liked the songs from the series more. The Ranka concert song being the notable exception. Macross Frontier: Wings of Goodbye is an awesome anime movie and a very good Macross movie that I think is better enjoyed if you've seen the series first.

It's been awhile since I've chimed in, I'm suffering through the low res YT version (yep it's still up) and so far I'm enjoying it, like someone else mentioned the slight alterations to the characters personalities versus the series is welcomed. I'm only up to sheryl going to the big house but the minor changes to the story are also refreshing. Looking forward to watching the remainder this evening!
