  1. Hey guys,

I've put up some things you might be interested in as far as Macross stuff goes (1/48 Super/Strike Armor Parts, 1/60 YF-19, 1/60 VF-0A, 1/60 Version 2 VF-1J Hikaru, Aoshima Red Legioss/Toynami Red Beta Set, 1/60 Version 1 VF-1S Focker with GBP Armor Set), some anime PVC figures, and some old-school arcade pc boards.

  2. I will likely end up buying one of these. Of course, I am a sucker for small, not-so-accurate VF-1 Valkyries -- I bought these afterall.

    post-1617-1258651250_thumb.jpg

I bought and still have those, too. They have their issues, but they're still fun to mess around with, and once you can get them posed, they look nice on display. Also, keep in mind that at the time, those were the only cheap, transforming Valks until Toynami came out with theirs. I don't see these Revoltechs being much better than the Toynami ones. And, are they coming with armor? If not, one more reason to pass on them.

  3. I can't believe Kaiyodo thinks Macross fans want another small, transforming Valk (of the VF-1, to boot!). It looks pretty hideous. I can't see how this line will do well. I know it's been said before, but they really do need to wake up and focus on unproduced mecha and character figures. That would give them an edge over the competition. I would even army build if they released more enemy mecha, too.

I picked up every Revoltech Macross figure so far, but I'm passing on these for sure.

  4. Hey all,

looking for a MIB set (or loose, even) to replace a set I already have that got a few paint smudges on it when it took a plunge during an earthquake here in the SF Bay Area about 2 years ago. It bugs me that it's not mint, so I'm looking to buy another set (can be loose with just the armor parts) and eventually sell my non-mint set.

  5. They come on a blister card now huh? Did they drop the retail price?

EDIT - I really hate Yamato's milking sometimes. They've shown pictures of GNUs with fastpacks/strike parts. Why are they now selling the toys without them? So they can double dip later. Weak.

I would even imagine you would need to replace parts of the VF to accomodate the armor parts, too. Very weak. The wings don't even have missile hard points. I can even see having to replace the wings if they decided to include missiles. I really hate the route they went in designing the arms at the elbows and the backs of the knees look weak with the joint exposed like that. They should have incorporated the ribbed detail that the VF-1's have back there.

  6. The tailfins not folding flat is something I noticed right away---it's like a flaw in the design or something---like Yamato "forgot" how to get the fins to lie flat on top of each other---the 1/60 v1 does pretty well, the 1/48 does it great--but the v2 has like 10 degrees of "not flat" when the fins are folded---there needs to be an offset hinge to allow for one to lay on top of another FLAT. It's not there, or not enough. Regardless of boosters, the fins don't lay flat, and that's why they rub the antenna.

One more reason to love my 1/48's even more in Battroid mode and more of a reason to just leave the Ver.2 1/60's in Fighter mode. And I'm tempted to clip off that damn stupid hook they designed to hold the backpack up in Battroid mode. It ruins the Fighter/Gerwalk modes for me.

  7. Ha! I was hoping someone would start a thread like this sooner or later. I was actually discussing this with my best friend, fellow MW member vf2ss, not too long ago. I used to dig watching Lifetime movies with one of my ex's. I love shmup music and will listen to it in my car or when I'm working on my display shelves. This one is really bad. I like some boy band songs, including NKOTB's. I love 80's Euro-Pop and alot of 80's music in general. Two of my favorite movies are Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer (both by Savage Steve Holland and starred John Cusack and Curtis Armstrong). I have a huge gashapon figure collection. I could go on, but I think I've already embarrassed myself enough. :D

  8. I bought 3 Regults, and i'm damn sure alot of us bought multiples as well.

I have 5. They are very cool. Plus, how often do we get a Regult?! They need to bring out other Macross enemy mecha/characters besides this VF-1. Getting sick of VF-1 toys in this scale or similar scale. Why not milk the Regult mold and release the other variations.

  9. I think with USPS, to file an insurance claim, it has to have been scanned into their system. If all you have online is, electronically filed, the post office will claim that the item was never scanned into their system, so they are not responsible.

but sometimes, i do drop stuff off and it doesn't get scanned until it arrives at the destination city, so who knows.

also, i hate parcel post. if it's small, i'll do first class, if it's bigger, than it's priority or ups or fedex.

no parcel post or media mail for me.

What is unusual is that this is the 2nd time this has happened in about 3 months. A few months ago, I had won a Masterpiece Rand Cyclone and the seller sent it by Priority Mail with delivery confirmation, but the confirmation info never got updated with new information, only stating that it had been electronically received by USPS, like in this latest fiasco. When I contacted the seller after a couple weeks (I mean Priority only takes 2-3 days), they claimed it had been returned to them because it had been damaged. <_< The seller then claimed they sent a replacement but never provided me with a tracking number even after requesting one repeatedly. I never received the item, so I filed a Paypal claim, and even that turned out to be a hassle because everytime Paypal would attempt to retrieve funds from the seller, the request would get rejected by the source of the seller's funds. I almost thought I was going to lose out completely, but Paypal came through and refunded me. Still, what a damn hassle. It took almost 2 months after I made the payment to get my money back. I suspect I may be in for another similar experience with this guy, too.

Anyway, thanks for the advice guys. Yeah, I will definitely be filing a claim with Paypal in another 2 weeks. I really hope this package shows up, but I have a bad feeling that it's not.

  10. Hey guys,

I wanted to know what you think about this situation I'm currently in with a former MW member. I'm sure alot of you guys remember misterryno. On September 8th, he put up a Ver. 2 VF-1J Hikaru, a set of the Super Parts, and a set of the clear armor parts on eBay. He wanted $150 for everything, but he was willing to take offers, so I shot him an offer of $125, and he accepted. I sent him the Paypal payment on the 9th, and he stated he shipped the package out that day by USPS Parcel Post with tracking and insured for $200 and provided me with a tracking number. Last week, he sent me a message through eBay asking me if I had received the package yet, and I told him I had not, but I would let him know when I did and leave feedback accordingly.

A couple days ago, I was getting concerned since I received another package from a seller I had won a similar set (Ver. 2 VF-1J Hikaru with a separate set of Super/Strike parts and a Revoltech VF-1J Hikaru freebie) from a seller in Georgia. I live in California, and this set had shipped a few days after the package that Ryan (misterryno) had claimed he shipped out to me, and he lives in Colorado. When I looked at the tracking info on the USPS website for the tracking number he gave me, it showed that USPS had received the tracking info electronically, but there was no info about where the package currently is (almost 2 weeks later, there is nothing on where this package currently is!). When I contacted Ryan, he said he would look into it but he thinks that the box may have been stolen because when he dropped it off at the post office, a clerk told him to just leave it at the counter, so it could have been taken (according to him <_< ). I really don't buy this story. I told him that I was skeptical about what is going on, and he responded that he was very upset that I would think he was up to no good and that he wasn't out to rip off anyone and that his feedback vouched for him. He said since the package was insured for $200 that I would get my money back if it didn't turn up after the allotted time that USPS allows for missing packages and a claim is filed. I told him that I wasn't going to wait for USPS to reimburse me and that I would file a claim with Paypal near the end of the 40 days I have to file a claim. He can file the claim and get his money back that way. I really don't expect this package to ever arrive. I think he insured the package thinking he could: pay for the shipping label online with insurance, claim he delivered it to the post office, and when it doesn't arrive, expect me to wait to get reimbursed by USPS for the loss while he gets to keep his stuff and the Paypal payment I sent him.

    What do you guys think?

  11. I had wanted to group together all my Max-type mecha together on a shelf at one point, but I decided to go with series themes instead. Right now, the Max Q Rau is displayed alongside Miria's Q Rau with my old 1/60 collection. I think once I pick up a VF-1S Max and the other Max 1/60's, I'll put the Q Rau with his other 1/60 mecha. Here's a pic of them. Yes, my shelf needs some major dusting.

  12. LOL!! Too funny.

You should have seen this same listing before when he had this one part in his description where he mentions that his wife had marvelled over how white and new he kept this toy. I guess he finally removed it, since it just sounded so corny. He's had this listing up quite a few times, and no one bites. What he fails to understand is no one is going to pay what he wants upfront. He should take a chance and actually have an auction, not some insane Buy It Now price. I love this part ... "sleeping peacefully in my smoke free closet for 24 years." Man, I smoke in my closet all the time, so I guess my stuff isn't smoke-free.

  13. Hope the real TV Roy will come out soon. Please please please make it come with Hikaru without helmet and Misa on lap w/helmet, and i guess a TV Roy.

I couldn't agree with you more. After all these years, Yamato STILL hasn't released a true TV version VF-1S with Roy Focker pilot. All we have is the Toynami Masterpiece VF-1S so far. I guess I can use the pilot for that in a 1/60 VF-1S Roy.

  14. By the way, the VE-1 will have the "small tail wings" as well. they are largely based on the same mould, sans the FPs and the other accessories.

Yeah, not thrilled about it, but it's going to stay in the armored mode anyway.

  15. I'm disturbed by the complaints of my fellow MWers in here regarding the VT-1! This is by far the best representation VT-1 out there!! And I think Septhiroth is still stuck on the old school mentality man.

It might be the best representation so far, but it still could have been more anime-accurate. I mean what doesn't make sense to me, is how the first version has that cream colored piece around the neck, but it's noticeably absent on the new version. It looks better with it, especially in fighter mode. Check out the image I posted of the Hasegawa model kit box art about a couple pages or so back, and you'll see what I mean. This version is going to set me back twice as much as the original, but I don't feel like I'm getting twice my money. And the smaller tail wings really looks odd. I think Yamato could have come up with a better solution. Like I mentioned before, this one is a purchase down the road when prices cool down quite a bit. The VE-1, on the other hand, looks to have some major improvements over the original in every way.
