  1. What's the reasoning for the main sensors being red rather than green? Are they red in DYRL? Or did they just want more contrast for their OD versions?

As for ground crew, isn't it about time we get some space-suited dudes? Might be our only chance to get some of those SDF Macross space ground-crew outfits in plastic.

I had brought this up sometime ago. That would make more sense. The SDF-1 spent more screen time in space in both the series and movie, so space suit crews would have been better. Oh well ...

  2. Bandai Japan doesn't bother with Ebay. They release what the Japanese customer wants, not what a bunch of fanboys with too much money want.

Oh, on the 2001 reissues, only the first Valk came without a heatshield.

The thing is, the last reissues came out not even a decade ago in 2001/2002, and I doubt between then and now, there has been a high demand from Japanese Macross fans to reissue the SAME ones they already did back then, especially when you can still find them now going for less than what they retailed for. I doubt there has been a huge influx of new fans demanding the VF-1J Hikaru and VF-1S because they missed them the first time around also. They should have just continued from where they left off.

And IIRC, the first Valk that was reissued was the VF-1J Hikaru. I was surprised that Bandai actually remembered that this is the one they forgot to include a heatshield with the last time they reissued it. So, I guess not everybody at Bandai is asleep at the wheel with these releases, but they are really missing a great opportunity to put out the unreleased ones.

I'm surprised that the DYRL movie hasn't been re-released in theaters in Japan since 1984. This year (with it being the 25th annivesary) would be a perfect time to show it again like Lucas did with Star Wars. I'm sure there would be alot of new fans that might be interested in picking up the Bandai DYRL Valkyries, especially the Strike VF-1S, VE-1, and VT-1.

  3. I think these are great toys for the right price. I have never bought these for the asking price, as I don't think they are worth more than $15 each. The boosters can be a pain to put on and remove. It's just best to leave them on permanently as the piece that they come with to attach to the figure starts to become weak and stressed leading to breakage. I have the first and second sets with the armor parts, and they look great on display. These are so much better than the Banprestos. They could really use a pilot figure sculpted into the cockpit, but at least you get all the missiles types. The hinge on the backpack doesn't seem to be capable of supporting the added weight of the boosters sometimes. I do hope they follow through with the Regult and the GBP armor Toynami was showing off last year at San Diego Comic-Con.

  4. Expensive too!!

Yeah, it seems like all the weathered Destroids are commanding a price that is almost double for that of the regular ones. That's outrageous! For that, I'd rather do the weathering myself. I would rather get a regular and olive drab Destroid for the cost of one weathered version.

  5. i agree, though I think at this point they dont want too many 1/48s sitting on the shelves for too long. Why make a bunch that would eventually go on clearance when they can make exactly the amount that will be bought from factory at a higher than retail price going directly into their bank?

I've been watching these on Yahoo Japan, and it seems like they're only moving at about 16,000 yen or so. Of course, to Japanese bidders. Yamato could have made these more widely available by offering a limited run instead of them being a magazine exclusive with an even more limited run allowing for a lower price point through online dealers instead of the inflated cost that is being asked for them on eBay. I think these are going to turn out like the Revoltech VF-1J Miria - not that hard to find a few months from now at a good price. A few years from now, we'll see if they go up in value over what they initially cost. These will be competing with the 1/60 version, so new collectors may want that version instead.

  6. Exactly. They should've ignored the tradition of starting with Hikaru and Skull Leader and gone straight into the Ostrich and Elint. I was going to skip the Yamato versions of those and just buy the 1/55 versions, as they have much more value for me.

This is so true. I just don't get how Bandai does it's research when it comes to rereleasing these again. You would think that it was quite obvious that mint VE-1, VT-1, and Strike VF-1S still fetch quite a bit of money on eBay. These are sure-sellers. I know I'd be pre-ordering these babies. I'm paranoid about even pulling out the vintage ones from time to time. Be nice to be able to display some reissues of these. Bandai is so obsessed with starting with the first releases. I give them credit for finally making a VF-1A Max, but that should have come after the no-brainers. Some generous extras and more tampo-printing would be nice, too. I was shocked to find out that the Origin of Valkyrie VF-1J Hikaru actually came with a heatshield this time around.

  7. Meh ... still like the 1/48 Battroid better than the new 1/60. I wish they had added the double-jointed elbow to the 1/48 though and bigger hands. I'm keeping all the new 1/60's in fighter mode, since that's the mode they look best in, IMO. Can't wait to get the 1/48 TV VF-1A Max I got coming. I've got a set of white side covers, TV hands, and neck support piece waiting for it. That's another issue I have with the new 1/60. Battroid mode just looks incomplete with the gaps under the arms and behind the head. I don't think it would have been that hard for Yamato to design some fold out covers that would cover these gaps. Or hell, just include separate parts. I don't think it would be sacrilegious to their PT objective with all the new Valks.

  8. Cool displays, Vegas! You don't get antsy about having stuff up that high and falling down?! I had some stuff up on a 6 foot shelf last year, but after we had a quake, my 1/60 YF-19 and VF-1J with Urban Camo Armor took a dive. Luckily, neither broke, but the Urban Camo Armor did get scuffed a bit. I don't put stuff up that high anymore. I'm hoping to get some Detolfs or some other suitable display cases soon, so at least there's a door in front of my stuff to keep them from falling out and onto the floor.

  9. Wow! Didn't know about this. That's scary. They REALLY need to get more funding for that project to track all the nearby objects that are capable of causing some major impacts on earth. I hear only a few people in the world are working on this.

  10. It's so ironic that you guys can see how this toy could have been made better, but Bandai's team of designers (guys with experience and degrees in design) couldn't. How lame. I'll wait for these to go down. Really liking the fighter mode. The lack of open-handed hands is ridiculous. If you're going to have a toy with extra fixed-pose hands, those should be standard. WTF, Bandai! You're the biggest toymaker in Japan, and you're making errors like this?!

  11. Do it fast, I got took by Crosszgundam ($200) and he just kept telling paypal he shipped with no proof of it, case got closed by paypal (30 days on bank transfers and 60-90 days on credit and the proof of burdin usually ends up on the person making the dispute)

Sorry to hear that, Pat. It's been a couple years since I dealt with Crosszgundam, but he seemed like a pretty straight shooter to me. Oh well, I guess you can't be too trusting, which is why I'm not hesitant to initiate a claim with anyone if I don't receive things in a timely fashion. You can always close your claim with Paypal if your items arrive. Last week, the refund that was pending finally cleared. I've never had a problem with getting a refund back from Paypal. This last guy that tried to screw me over never responded to any of my eBay messages or to the claim with Paypal, so I knew he was full of it. I shouldn't have even bid on his auction. He was selling an SV-51 Ivanov with the shipping cost being $50 and he was in Florida and I'm in California. Pretty shady shipping cost, but his feedback was decent, so I took a chance and bid low since his shipping cost was high. The auction ended at $61 so he invoiced me for $111. I sent him a payment the same day which was a Sunday. He said he would ship it out by Priority Mail (2-3 day delivery) on Monday. 2 weeks later, I still didn't have the SV-51, and he wouldn't respond to messages at all, so I had no choice but to open up a claim with Paypal. Like I said, to this day which has been more than a month now, no SV-51 or contact from the seller, but I did get a refund from Paypal.

  12. I love video game music, especially from the game systems from the eighties and nineties, so I've been listening to alot of stuff that users on YouTube have been uploading. I especially like remixes of old tunes. The Super Smash Bros Brawl soundtrack has alot of cool remixed tunes of familiar Nintendo tunes.

  13. But you can't take money out of someones account if they have nothing IN their account. Worse case scenario for someone like that, if their ID is available by the bank by bill collections, bill collections will go after that person and take them to court and garnish their wages if they work.

I had someone last year who listed a VF-0A as being on hand, and as nearly 2 months pass by I asked what was up and he never replied. So I did a dispute and he was kind of crude about it saying "Item is being sent from Hongkong." and I sent him a copy of his sale saying on Hand...finally got the item only to break a day later.

I contacted Paypal about this and a rep e-mailed me basically stating that Paypal will refund me one way or another. I don't know how true this is, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
