  1. Most sequels Disney put out in the past (before mid-2010s) were Straight-to-DVD fare, and invariably inferior to the original to varying degrees from mildly passable to downright awful; at least they were never meant for theatrical release, and only intended as cheap cash grabs for diehard fans of a particular character or for little kids, who consume everything regardless of quality, to annoy their parents into buying.

There is always room for a well crafted sequel to further characters in new stories -- classic Pixar (under Lasseter), the Cars franchise notwithstanding, was a master at it -- but the question is: can current Disney truly come up with anything worthy?  The fact they have nothing original in the pipeline other than sequels to things that were good under far more competent and talented leadership that have been pushed out, is very telling.  If they do make something good, great!.. but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I love the original Vipers and their 3 button control stick.

But damn was it fun how the updated Vipers could flip on a dime in space.  Made the dogfights a little more interesting.

The turbo button was the single greatest glaring omission in the reimagined Viper designs.  I can understand why Moore steered away from that detail but I always loved the shove you back in your seat, kick in the pants, dragon breath-like after-burner go-fast button in both the launch tube and in space... it was just so badass and iconic in the og show and distinctive from contemporary space fighter of the era; it clearly set it apart from the X-Wing and Thunderfighter.

  3. I'll be honest, a small part (the little kid in me who'll never die) will still follow most announcements but the jaded old man in me, the curmudgeon dementedly yelling 'GET OFF MY LAWN YOU DELINQUENTS!!!' will be shrugging his shoulders in indifference and logically justifying it by coming to the realization that this stuff is just too expensive and pointless for what it is and me eventually being too old for this poop; heck, my purchasing activities have already cratered by 90% from my peak in the last couple of years, and my selectivity on what I will actually even contemplate buying and how much I'm willing to spend on something (sticker discipline) have skyrocketed. :drinks:

Would actually prefer 1/12 action figures in their regular/casual clothing... maybe in 10+ years Kitzconcept might get around to making New Gen. merchandise. :nea:

Why not both? :unknw: The thing is, in 10+ years, no matter who (unlikely) does it, there'll be little chance that I'll give a damn about this stuff.

  5. ^Sure wish those would be reissued or got the revival/reinterpretation treatment by some other company/division... I'm firmly unwilling to track down and pay exorbitant secondary market prices for, essentially, Gashapons.

Like that thinking worked for Harrison Ford and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Exactly my worries.  Top Gun Maverick was the anomaly as far as these reboots of old properties go.

The glaring difference between TGM and DoD is that the former honored the legacy character and introduced new ones without elevating them at his expense in a mostly well structured story, while the latter went out of its way to diminish, humiliate, deconstruct the titular character in order to foist a new, and wholly grating and unlikable, self-insert "protagonist" at the very intentional expense of Indi (the 3rd time Ford willfully participated in the corruption of one of his iconic roles) in a mess of an incoherent patchwork film that clearly went through several reshoots and reedits that attempted to (unsuccessfully) salvage a turd.  While respecting the past may not guarantee success, disrespecting it, especially when it comes across as mean spirited and gratuitous, almost always guarantees failure.

Hopefully Thrawn ends up a better character in the next season, he was such a letdown here. And I think it would be a good idea to make Ahsoka the main character in her own show

I wouldn't hold my breath on either score, more likely it'll be more of the same, if not even more so... Star Wars under Disney is almost invariably a lost cause.

The OP was referring to how long it was taking to release the Dana fig...your response when further by correcting the OP that it has been years not months...but now I guess you are adding more criteria into the comparison...you are amusing at best

She is literally a carbon copy of one of the sisters from the animated film Kubo Two Strings.

That it exactly what came to mind when she shows up on screen; well, without any of the grace and intimidation factor that made the sisters so memorable.

I went to the movie theater and besides being treated like dirt and not worthy to grace there presence,  they decided to turn the movie off 20 minutes before it was done! so the person over movies could take a lunch break because someone called off work. so me and about 10 other people did not get to watch it to the end + plus no refunds other then told to contact customer service to see if they might send out a discount coupon. Thanks AMC!

I'll do what what I always have done, just wait on the torrent to come out to watch the whole movie. there's no place for me in a sick society.

And they wonder why people decide, with zero remorse, to sail the plundering high seas...

Finally up on disney+ and watched it last night. Man......I liked Crystal Skull more than this trash heap. This was an awful movie. But hey, Ford doesn't care, he got paid.

A piece of theatrical excrement that most certainly earned its status as one of the, if not THE, biggest money losing bombs of all time.  Another feather in the cap of KK's legacy of utter franchise destruction; on the bright side, there is nothing left in Lucasfilm's vault for her to ruin... what's she going to sink her fangs on next... Howard the Duck:lol:

I don't think he has a choice about the direction KK put the franchise on. She's still in charge, unfortunately.

That's fair, and foreboding for the viability of the franchise's popularity and profitability... both have cratered since shortly after (the release of TLJ) Disney took over.  The prospects under current (mis)management/"leadership" -- not just Lucasfilm, but everything under the Disney umbrella -- do not engender any optimism for the future.

Did anyone share this news yet?

    https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/star-wars-vet-dave-filoni-lucasfilm-chief-creative-officer-1235669321/amp/

He's passionate about his work, and a loyal company man but the talent is not there. Or be more exact he seems to play it safe. Guess that's what Disney wants. I like to see the guy wow us all with an original live-action project that doesn't have a built in audience of fanatics.

Unfortunately, he has abandoned Favreau's vision for Star Wars and, as the absolute lackey that he is, has fully embraced the direction KK set out for Star Wars.  Unless he can prove otherwise (BoBF, Kenobi, Mando season 3, Ahsoka and The Bad Batch certainly weren't it), all roads lead to the sequel trilogy... and forgettable mediocrity that undermines what Lucas created, driving away legacy fans while failing to attract new ones to replace them.

He was kinda dull here. I know nothing about him previous to this, but he seemed just as bumbling as most bad guys in Star Wars if not worse. I mean this guy couldn’t even command his troops to close a door...

Characters are only as smart or interesting as the person writing them.  The best description of the Ashoka series' version of Thrawn that I've read is that he is a dumb person's interpretation of a smart person... a 2-dimensional, thinly superficial competence and menace that do not stand up to even the most cursory scrutiny.
