  1. Messer is my favorite character and in my opinion he was completely in the right and let Hayate off lightly. Hayate took a VF out on an unorthodox joyride.

He's allowed to. When he signed up he said to Arad "Im just gonna do what I want" and Arad said "Yeah, ok." If hayate isnt allowed to do it how could he get Freyja into a flight suit, get the fighter out and ready, take off and fly around awhile without anyone radioing or saying something? I think Messer was probably just brooding out the window and saw him out there.

Info episode, which is fine. SOme real off model shots this week, bu some nice animation too. Decent watch

  2. I'm guessing for now, it's targeted. With modification, the signal could be broadcasted.

When he is singing, you see the energy waves going through a portal, so Im guessing thats some kind of fold portal, held open so he can send that energy to a specific area. So yeah, I agree with you here.

Where did you guys get the idea they are hunting down or targeting the protoculture descendants?

  3. I'm certain those are CF Sv-262s. The images are from their invasion/occupation.

I suspect Roid is on a ship (I suspect he was back in episode 1), but this broadcast could have been made planet-side.

oh I agree with that, and i know those are Windemarians, but.... I dunno it would sort of work right? i mean SV-51 to SV-262;same designation scheme. Anti UN force, unique scheme..... What if those are the Canon Fodder fighters for the Knights? see those vs a bunch of NUNS 171's would make sense as some kind of big war endgame scene...

  4. Right, I get that and will even accept that to a degree, but the show has him basically skipping every lesson when it comes to learning to fly the aircraft. Yet here he is taking off, flying, and engaging in mock combat. I'd have bought it more if they stretched this out over a few episodes and showed him actually learning how to fly. I think it would have been fun and genuinely amusing.

I really thought it was great in episode 2 when they acknowledged the fact that he had no clue how to fly an aircraft. They totally avoided that anime trope of the novice doing amazing things in their super mecha. But then in episode 3 he's outmaneuvering Mirage after a week of skipping flight training with her. It took me longer than that to learn how to drive a car.

Except it was longer than that, it was a month. We know that it was because Mirage had a month to get him up to snuff. and this was his 'final exam' to prove he was going to be able to join the squad. Which he managed, but also acknowledged that he had more work to do.

  5. VF-31S for me. Good mix of colors, cool logo on the back. Sold.

but i actually like all 5. I loved Frontier, but never came around on Lucas fighter or the main 27's colors.

  6. Yeah when i first saw it i instantly thought of the original Macross. Then i was like no that's a quarter. Then i notice the arms look different. I'm looking forward to learning about this ship. Weird that they've chosen to have it stand up in is stationary position. You would think carrier mode would be the preferred choice. But like others have said the original macross sits in a lake.

Yeah I was discussing that with Tochiro last night. She seems bigger than the Quarter to my eye, but then we almost never see the Quarter with people just milling about or near windows, so scale is hard to judge. I dont think she's as large as Macross or Battle 7.

Keep in mind, most modern rules of warfare specify attacks on military targets is considered an attack on a nation itself. Al Shahal may not be forgiving of that when they find out Windermere is discovered as the attacker. The NUN may not be forgiving either.

    An excellent point.

Actually do we know if Elysium and Walkure have anything to do with NUNS? the only fighter markings are the Delta Squad ones... I don't think we have seen a single NUNS or SMS logo on anything at all.

  7. Im gonna put a weird idea out there; What if that IS the Battroid? Instead of a head, the nose/cockpit just sits between the shoulders, and there is no unit that pops up above that line? Kowamori said it wouldnt be like anything we'd seen before.

    Just an idea...

  8. i hope that's right, because as it is i dont think it has LG. And i think that would be a shame to leave out.

Looking at some other pics i personally think the backs of the legs will open like they did in Ep1 for the boomerangs. there is just a section that looks like a seperate piece to me. Depending on how deep that goes, maybe thats why there's no gear?

  9. Cool.
I actually like all 5. i was never into the RVF-25, the color always seemed a weird choice. Delta 4 isn't my favorite with the pinky/red color, but the general pattern of the 31's is great and dynamic. I'm super psyched for these! :)

  10. Gotta say the VF-31 has really grown on me and it's now my most anticipated Valk toy of 2016, more so than the VF-2SS and the Sv-262.

    Anyone in particular?

  11. OK, I'm going to revise my opinon on the mecha animation quality and detailing.

I watched the raw yesterday once only on my TV, while being distracted by wife and son.

I've now just been going through it on my laptop and freeze framing the mecha scenes, especially the VF-31s and yes, there is actually a heck of a lot of detail present on the mecha, more than I first thought.

Now, about the recharge pack it splits into two sections, the boxy structure on the right being the wireless recharge system for the boomerangs.

However, the long part on the left looks like some sort of gunpod. If you look at the attached pics there eve seems to be some sort of pistol grip, which I've marked with an arrow.

In fact I think on a recent magazine cover (Figure Oh magazine?), this gunpod(?) was even shown in the hand of the VF-31.

I'm guessing it's some sort of heavy beam cannon that can be fired when the pod is extended and perhaps the gunpod can be ejected into the hand of the VF-31.

However, judging from the animation, it cannot be fired from the fighter mode belly position, as the muzzle would apear to be blocked by the groin piece.

The may not need to fire from below the fighter, it could deploy over the top i would think. I'm guessing the arm guns under the wings are the primary main guns on the fighter mode.

  12. So I've watched Delta a second time now. Once raw and once with subs. my thoughts:

    *I liked it!

*The characters are all distinct and i got a sense for them very quickly. Hayate is a bit to Alto-ish in his "I'm so cool and aloofness" but I like the girls a lot, especially the main mystery girl.

*The mechs look cool! i can't wait to see the Drakens transform, but i love their pop down gunpod and cool looking Ghost Wings! The 31's clearly have a lot going on in different parts of the fighter, and Im intrigued to see more about what they all do! I hope they have landing gear...

*The mystery of who is doing what is intriguing. Is Freya from the same planet as the Knights? is she a non-human species? How are the Knights causing the Var? Or are they just taking advantage? Does the Var only affect Zentradi? How does Walkure reverse the affects?

*I liked both of the songs. Certainly more than I liked a lot of Sheryl or Ranka's at first.

All in all I am very ready for more! Great opening!

i am gonna be so broke buying all those fighters....

  13. 2 things missing from the toy 31 promo pics were the hidden leg compartments that stored the boomerangs, and high speed mode.

I understand abt spoilers on the boomerang, tho the high speed gimmick wouldnt reveal much sub-plots.

Also I can't see hatches for Landing Gear...
