Looks like Mav is trying to pad his idiotic remark with Memo's assumption. It seems to go like this (improvised for those that don't "understand" Shadow Chronicles) Maverick: Robotech Shadow Chronicles is so cerebral, anybody who doesn't like it and doesn't understand it is stupid. It's so cerebral, I can't even understand it's depth. Memo: DUDE, WHAT YOU TALKING BOUT. I DON'T LIKE M7, BUT YOU THROWN ME OFF WITH THAT CERBRAL TALK Maverick: That's cause I'm trying to be super cerebral here in my explanation, I don't even understand it yet, but I'm gonna dedicate my life to understanding it. Memo: HEHEHE, YOU TRYING TO BE LIKE SETO? IF THAT WHAT YOU DOING, I UNDERSTAND, NOT M7. Maverick: Um, yeah, OK. That's what I was trying to do all this time. Forget what I said before. That's what I always meant to say. I was doing a parody of Seto, cause I want to flatter him. Did it work? Seto, call me in the morning. OK, that wasn't a parody, that was just calling it for what it is.

When I saw the screening at the HG studio of this, at the end, there was a lot of clapping and such. What I found quite interesting, was that many people in the theater that I did not know (probably HG employees or other employees of Funimation and the sort), were making comments like "why do the women look like they're in a circus?" Other comments that followed were "How much did we pay for this?" and "Who do they plan to show this to?" These weren't from Macross Purists, I assure you. These were people with a raw, unbiased outlook on RTSC. I'm sure Maverick thinks these people are stupid, too, even though they probably have lives that have accomplished more than being a moderator and dud podcaster. I'm sure the HG staff would love to know who those people were that made those comments, so they can stalk them, but those comments have been shared by others I know who aren't in the "know" about debates, and all that. On a sidenote, for anyone living in the SoCAL area, I'm trying to set up a hangout/get together lunch thing. It's in the fan gathering/convention threads. If interested, it's open to everyone. Details are there.

There's a reason why arguments like the use of mecha sniper rifles and the sort don't hold up (well, more than one) for their purposes. First off, what is the point of it? Does it invalidate the entire series? If someone's gonna nitpick trivial elements (I don't find them too trivial), then compare them to a series that failed to have much of anything positive, it puts Maverick_LSC's argument as just a feable flamebait. It's been pointed out, so there you go. If you're gonna defend Robotech, by all means, do it, but if you're gonna try to validate it by taking pot shots at Macross, you're gonna look like you came off the short bus everytime.

Validity of the Super Long Range Emigration Strategy
Jasonc replied to Uxi's topic in Movies and TV Series
In Macross Plus, there's a short segment where Isamu is about to get relocated. In that one scene, it kinda references the fact that there are mining colonies/operations, and other planets used for specific reasons, not just colonization. It kinda gave me the impression that there are several reasons for the colonization services the fleets serve. Maybe it's more like a realistic version of Star Trek, except instead of just exploring, and expanding, they are also attempting to expand the human race in resources, militarily, gain allies, and adding additional worlds for humans is a great way to preserve the race. I also agree that the emmigration fleets maybe a lucrative endeavor. Perhaps with mining colonies and being able to obtain that much more in resources, the cost of metals and resources to build fleets isn't as high as it is in our real world. The economics have to be drastically different in that universe than what we would perceive in our own. Just my ideas. -
Hey everyone. I have been talking with Gubaba, and we would like to invite everyone to a small, MW get together in Little Tokyo perhaps. I was thinking of a Saturday, early afternoon or something, but wanted to see if anyone was interested in attending. There are several different places to eat in the area, as well as Anime Jungle (two different stores), and Kinokuniya book store. I thought we'd all be able to just hang out and do the Geek thing, and talk shop. Anyways, if interested, share your interests and for what day. I'd like to do it some saturday in March. The more the merrier.

Yeah, at least it seems like they were basing that statement from the original footage. Seems like they totally disregarded Shadow Chronicles. Those two would've been perfect for the new Alice in Wonderland movie as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

Ding Ding Ding, give Pete a prize!!!

I want that book, looks pretty damn cool.

Pizza the Hutt No, it definitely wasn't because of that. I've never cussed him out. If I ever did, the ripples would reach around the world and hit him twice as hard, LOL, J/K Bus seriously, I was banned cause Steve Yun had a crab up his @ss, and I decided to make a point of how ridiculous his censoring was. It was supposed to be only 4 weeks or so off, but I never wanted to go back, so it was more my choice to not go back. I'm not gonna comment on the incidents that got you banned, cause I don't go on that site, but as for Maverick, I'd have to ask, when does he not make an @ss of himself? I think he made a stupid assumption in that it's not like people don't understand RTSC, they don't understand how anyone could so blindly love something so pointless and stupid. The story is nothing complex as blatantly obvious. These arguments he makes, and general underlying attacks on his fellow RT fan companions is sad. The infinite wisdom of an idiot is wrought with disaster.

It's a combo of both, and the rest of the RT staff that's changed with them throughout. Carl put together Robotech together, but his creative writing after that was what put Robotech into the hands of comic story artitsts and off the screen. Tommy put Robotech back onto a screen, but the quality was less than poor. The problem with both Macek, and Yune, is that they both can be very stubborn. Nobody really knows the capacity in which Carl will work with HG in, but maybe they think that two stubborn people working together will fix all the issues they had before. It seems more like too many cooks in the kitchen, but who knows. Who really cares?

Sheryl's face did seem a bit strange in that sculpt.

I remember when Memo was trying to "sell" the idea of robotechx.com to me and a couple others, and it was pushed as a site "by the fans, for the fans". I really have to ask where any of that applies, as it seems more like the site's mission statement should be "by the RT mods, for Tommy Yune". Even with all the ridiculous rantings and claims I read on that site, I've never been able to care for being on that site. It's policy how the way HG runs their site, it's just goofy having "fans" running it the same way. And, if that's not how the people who own the site want it run, perhaps they should take inventory of what is going on there.

The style they were going in had all VAs that were SAG members. They also changed the VA for Marcus. But all they did was change SAG VAs with other SAG VAs who've done the parts before. I think part of that was actually the negative fan reaction that started coming out when they found out that some voices weren't gonna reprise their roles. They threw Melanie McQueen a bone and let her do Marlene, but it seemed like a waste of money to have others come in, do roles, then swap a couple out maybe. Who knows, maybe Sue Blue just didn't have the drive to recast original VAs, who knows. There's so many reasons, but I know the only thing that really cost more was having to pay additional actors to replace the ones they should've had in the first place, and the "high profile" actors.
-
She was gonna have different people than the original VAs, for voices like the Regis, and a couple others I think. I think she was just being counter productive, and therefore, they got Richard Epcar, who seemed to get the job done well and efficiently, for what was given him.

Gobots, now there's a franchise I could standby!!! LOL As for BSG, it didn't have a negative outpouring of fans complaining about the franchise before the new show was out. Most of the negative comments came out afterwards, comparing it to a whore house in space and all that. Nevertheless, I don't recall them screwing over fans like HG has done. Even though some series gone LAM have their quirks, they at least try to keep a good rapport with the fanbase. It doesn't seem to be the case here, and I wonder if this is stuff that could break the hopes and dreams of HG's LAM of Robotech. Speculative, I know, but just throwing it out there.

They do need to have a second book. At least it'd be nice to have one. I'm really happy with the book. This, along with the other book from the 80s and the Artmic books, really gives you an idea of the grand scheme of this show. Timeless artwork.

Ahhhh, more Sheryl figs to order. With all these figs coming out of her, I'm gonna have to arrange a Sheryl display in the Detolf cases when I get the space.

I've been reading various blogs through the net, and it seems that the C&D that HG sent the UEG guys is kinda backfiring. People I never expected to confess their disgust for HG's treatment of Robotech and the fans, are now being echoed everywhere. As more negative comments flow in through various sites and realms, I wonder how direct this will be on the idea of a live action movie? If you put yourself in the shoes of someone making decisions to finance or not finance a Robotech film, would the hordes of negative comments about the franchise that pop up question your decision, or would those be things you'd overlook and outweigh them with what Robotech once was? Maybe this is what they were planning for their 25 year anniversary.

Speaking of guitar lessons, I've always wanted to take some. I never had guitar lessons. I'm self taught. I've been at a point where I can clean up my own style, but getting technically better probably could use either instruction, or something like that. Finding a good instructor helps too, as there are way too many around. Gotta weed them out. What type of electric do you have? I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio, but will be getting a PRS later this year. Just don't have the $3200 to spend right now, unfortunately.

They have their own legal team. What I don't get is why they're busy sending letters to fans, when they should be busy trying to keep Frank Agrama from his own legal troubles?
-
I don't think there is any real way to "do it right". Probably the best thing to have done would've been to never talk to HG about it. I guess there's the live and learn factor, in which no one should really get involved in doing stuff for a company that is looking to shaft you. Just by reading througout various blogs, websites, and whatnot, this action has seemed to really backfire on HG, and for a moving picture fanfic with no monetary gain. Dust that dirt of your shoulders!!! Time to be Voltron fans

1/55 Swivel Thigh Mod - BIC Pen Method (Streamlined)
Jasonc replied to Skull-1's topic in The Workshop!
Ahhh, I remember this. It was good times. Except for about 21/2 jetfire/bootlegs still left, I haven't worked on any of these in ages. It's still nice to look at them though, and remember when these were the hot items. I didn't really expect anything new in this thread, but thanks for the nostalgia fix. -
"All your fanfics are belong to us!" Robotech fans should do what HG wants, and stop talking about Robotech, stop doing any fan sites, fan works, pics, customs, etc. They're working hard at giving you the worst toys possible, cause they don't want you buying those, too. Why are you all acting like Macross Purists and still talking about Robotech and wanting to do fanfics and stuff with it?
-
Awesome!!! Thanks for Remember 16. I have a Martin Acoustic that's been itching to get played, and I haven't really broken it in yet. Gotta get a capo tomorrow and I'll give it a shot. I'll try to put more up soon when I get some time and get my guitar out.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Jasonc replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
Awesome. I just took it out of the box again to take pics, but since you got the same one, no need. My wife saw the figure, and she kinda rolled her eyes, but understands the character and what it is. She actually likes Sheryl in Mac F. In regards to the movie, when it's out on Blu-Ray or DVD, I'm gonna wait for a version with subs to come out for sure. I'm guessing if it's still in theaters, there's no way it'll be out anytime soon, probably at least a few months at minimum.
