  1. alias showing skyfire transforming in halo city (autobot headquarters)
  2. big F- how much did you pay for the SD kits? i've been out of collecting waaay too long, they were going for $30-$40 when i was collecting and i could find any one of the kits i wanted from the for sale section here and on ebay.
  3. for recasts i don't think anyone would want to pay the $190 bill. thats the price at no profit and it comes out as plaster of paris, very fragile and it IMPLODES when it comes in contact with water. it needs about 4 hours of finishing with CA and a good 15 hours of sanding before its a decent part ready to be painted. since i have the solidworks file and i'll be in asia for winter break ill see if this can be made for much cheaper.
  4. for the jet mode i got as close to the cartoon reference as i could while maintaining the SD look and making it transformable. today i figured out a way to make the chest intakes face the correct directions in both modes wihtout having to pull them off...but because of the proportions the arms and head have to be removed for jet mode.
  5. for the sd figures on back i just used the myclones series. thanks to the hot tip from nick, and also for his box scans which saved a lot of time.
  6. half parts printed out of plaster, 48.3 hours, wtf. solscud is very genrously sending reissue box scans in layers so in 4 weeks it should be done, printed, in a vacuum form tray and custom box.
  7. yo tony, do you get a laser cards with your instructor comps?
  8. reference shots compliment of seibertron.com i redesigned a lot of things, most noticeably proportions but also gave the hands a more boxy transformer-y feel and added a lot of vent/exhaust details.
  9. detail shot of cockpit under canopy and chest intakes
  10. this term we have a rapid prototyping class and the project is robots. PERFECT!! i winged my presentation and sold my instructor on the idea to make a transforming skyfire, the whole twist on it would be it was super deformed so i wouldn't be straight copying somebody elses design. when complete it will be printed out in 3-D with ABS plastic using a FDM (fused deposition modeling) machine. the due date for a fully painted and detailed model is in 7 weeks. these are the current solidworks files, i still have to do arm and shoulder joints, work on some tolerances and its ready to print!! the cost for printing is a horrible $11 a cubic inch and i'm going to be setting up a paypal account to accept donations for the printing. on the title page for this class i will be making a "contributors" section with your name/handle but ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh have to finish the model first. my question is if this sort of thing something you all would donate a couple hard earned dollars to? if not i'll try going around to some hobby/toy shops and getting some donations in exchange for some advertising in my presentation/portfolio....the owner of giant robot magazine/shops will be at our final.
  11. nice work XTOYS, lol. show some zoom up of the hair. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  12. big ups, im waiting for things to render in the labs and thought i'd pop in to see what was going on. glad there are still 1/55 mods happening, love your work. keep it coming!
  13. hahahahahaha, a kind macrossworld member actually called me to tell me that this super old post ended up getting bumped back up. and it was enough to drag me out from the design school trenches and log in. i almost forgot my pw, lol. hope everybody on here is cool and i should be at the con unless school gets too crazy. hey jas, been a reaaaalllllyyyyyyyyy long time, as soon as i saw your customs i instantly remembered you. thanks a lot for the kind words. the ostrich is still sitting at home chilling in a box still missing poseable hands, lol.
  14. i love build-ups so thanks for showing how you did the mod. i really like how you used all 1/55 parts to achieve the "A" stance, bootlegs count too! and i'm also glad there is still a handful of 1/55 enthusiasts out there still working those loveable chunky monkeys.

    Gummy Bear Pilot?

i swear, everyone who saw it wanted to eat it, lol.
  16. ugh... whenever i smell pizza now i get sick. nick and i went to costco to pick up EIGHTEEN pizzas for everyone and you should have seen us when we left. we had one of those flatbed cart things overflowing with pizza. nice seeing old timers and new people. this really had to have been the second best mw con out of all the 5. i really hope someone takes up the reins and we can have an awesome mw con 6. if mari has less than 20 people show up to her venues than she doesn't get paid so we should definately all go and show her some support. maybe at the next con we will be graced with more "F" words. haha, i kept telling everyone to try and look at the back of the t-shirt because it said "s h i t". glad to see that minmei is all grown up and potty-mouthed. her site, has venue info and dates: http://www.marimusic.com/
  17. nightmare, forget god among men..you are cake-god among men. im kind of pissed off that i was too busy guarding the upstairs to be able to get a bite of that cake. nick, is it in lisa's refrig right now? haha, im surprised no one posted a picture of all of nick's pool girlfriends.
  18. sent you cash now! this will be the last old style con unless someone else wants to take the load nick and jerry have held in the past! there is SURE to be some surprises there!
