I got mine from this seller. I haven't popped it out yet though. I got it based on a few good reviews by people I know.

I don't get it. Are there extra spots to put more spikes I'm not seeing? Or would they just be spares? Thx

On this one, because there is SO much anime magic I would be perfectly OK with some parts-forming. I would rather have an attractive representation than the ability to say "It's perfect transformation". I may not be the best person to ask though. I just recently saw a high end Optimus Prime that came in robot and truck mode in the same box. Neither transformed. And you know what? Both looked fantastic. I think I would be OK with a 21 in Fighter that doesn't transform and another that will transform between Gerwalk and Battroid. Heck, I'd probably be ok with non transforming ones for all three modes if they can really nail the aesthetic. And because they don't transform how much does cost go down per unit. The way I collect that would actually work out really well.

They could have Arcadia make them. They're really good at making legs.

That inlet to the compressor is a aerodynamic disaster.

Here are the Cliffs Notes: -There have been pictures released of a new Bandai DX YF-21. -Release date unknown. -45% of the people complained about it. -45% of the people are nit picking it to death. -10% are happy with how it looks. -100% of people are buying at least one anyway. Did I get everything?

5 extras. Do you think I'm some sort of madman?

When I was previously into toys before this stint the 1/60 stuff was coming on line. I remember thinking "Why would I want smaller ones?" (I had some 1/48's). Then I took 10ish years off and got back into it. And I still much prefer a 1/48. Buuuuuuuuuuutttttt. I do have to qualify that. As I'm collecting now on a larger scale than I did before and running out of space I would happily trade some of my 1/48 Valks that I consider "second tier" for 1/60's simply for the room. But I would never give up my "primaries". VF-1S Hikarus, VF-1S Roys and a Stealth (which is most of my 1/48's). Those are absolute 1/48 must haves for me. I clearly don't care about consistent scaling though. If I did things would be a lot harder.

A 3P company selling $6,000 valks! It looks like @jenius figured it out in the meantime. Seems as if it takes a little more than "comfortable" pressure to get them locked in. It's probably a safe bet that people are justifiably gun shy about going bonkers. I'm kind of stupid, so I just went for it blindly.

You got your edit in while I was popping pics. Figured I would post them anyway. Maybe they will give the next person an idea of what home plate looks like. You may be right on the duty cycle of that interface. I guess time will tell.

I actually did a quick outline on what it would cost to do a mostly aluminum 1/35 Valk. Some would be plastic simply because it's a smarter material in some sports. But mostly metal. Sprung/spline'd joints inside "ball" or "rose" joints for things like the hips. Probably with teflon sliders and tension adjustments, etc. Make most of the other simpler joints so they can be adjusted for tension too (teflon inerfaces0. Rough guess on a limited quantity $3000. Maybe something I can tackle in 5-6yrs once I get through the current business cycle. It would also be easier if a few production technologies that are coming on line pan out by then too. And I would have to find someone to paint them. Maybe get LEK in on it so they can be $4000! If it would cost that much there is not much reason not to go even bigger. Materials cost is a really small portion of the overall cost. Maybe a Battroid that 24" tall and about 15lb. Frankly, I could "steal" the current best sculpts and then just engineer the rest of the figure. I have the ability to scan parts right into CAD now. I'm hoping to have the option of retiring in 7yrs (I won't though). Once I have that option I want to start doing crazy projects like this, farming myself out to race teams for development projects, working as a "mercenary" product development service, etc. Development is what I really want to do. The actual selling product thing isn't fun.

I tens to massively over engineer my products so take this with a grain of salt. If I were designing a valk I would have a way of actively locking stuff like the arms in place. I'd have to think long and hard about how to do it and make it "transparent" at the same time. I'm sure it could be done though. If I designed a Valk it would probably be $600 though. So maybe I'm not the best person to get an option from.

When I read this thought to myself......self, "I don't remember those being an issue". And that is one of those things that drives me batty. I would have remembered. I just pulled my 1S with Strikes off the stand to check and it's as I remember it. A brick. I can shake the fighter and the arms/armors and gun pod don't budge. I don't know what I did to get it like that or if it's a fluke (a sample size of one is not a test). But mine is solid. Better than my 1/48 Yammies for sure. If I accidentally figured out a trick I wouldn't know how to convey it. Because I don't know what I did.
