Optimus biting in TF: M is the singular moment in cartoons that I saw the main character die. That's something that didn't happen much even in the life-action movies, so that made it doubly-hard to swallow.

Is it "Official" that a Tread/beta will be made?
It's offical that Toynami has stated that any Beta produced would depend on the sales of the Alpha. If the demand isn't there for the Alpha, they're not going to make the Beta.
-
As inaccurate as the sculpt may be, it's still a lot better than the old Gakken toy.
-
What changed your mind, Southcross?
-
Sales of the Alpha will decide whether or not they make a matching and docking Beta Fighter. Not to mention whether or not we'll get any Cyclones of any type.
-
To quote a certain yellow animated character...
Glarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh
Pardon me while I drool all over my keyboard. This is one good looking toy.
I don't know how many of these suckers I'm going to buy, but I know it's going to be a lot...
-
No, there have been pics of a two-seater 0A model, which some people have requested in toy form.
Due to the progress in getting different-mold toys in the VF-1 1/60 line, I suggest that for some time, all we're going to see are repaints of the same basic toy.
However, I wouldn't mind being pleasently surprised.
-
Don't forget about the two-seater 0A model.
Either way, it'll all depend on these sales.
-
I dunno if you'd see those. Yamato only produced the 1/60 VF-1D in a limited run, and that's the only variant of the basic mold that I know of.
VT-1 and VE-1 were varients as well.
True enough.
I stand corrected, but still don't hold out hope for different mold Mac0 toys any time soon.
ahem , I think Graham already confirmed we can expect varaints
What would be of a M0 toy line without having a VF-0D ?
Please note that I said "any time soon". Afterall, look how long it took for Yamato to produce the 1D, VE-1, and VT-1. I think Yamato sat back and took a look at the sales of the 1/60 line and decided it would be worth the risk.
Any variants would depend on the sales of this unit, I think.

and if variants (0D... 2-seater 0A) show up, I'll likely pick some of them up too!

Everything else has been a repaint of that same basic mold (minus head changes, of course), so that's probably your best bet about the Zero line, as well.

Bad WDC! No cookie!

I love that Alpha fighter. Didn't realize how gorgeous that design was until I saw your model of it. Fantastic posability over the standard kit, and a rocking colour scheme that I absolutly love.
And there's the fact that it as TWO GU-XX gunpods. I like that touch
-
Nice. I like that colour scheme. How did you paint it?
-
Heheh. I like it. Very nice, but I would personally old off on the "blurring" you used (I don't know the propor term).
Keep it up.

It looks like a basic Gallant rifle with some extra stuff added to me.
And yeah, this is the that will convince me to go Online. I know it already.
And anyone expecting realism in a mecha , no matter what the genera, is looking in the wrong place. There is no way to make a mecha game "real", no matter how hard you try.
*cough*STEEL BATALLION*cough*
The closest one could get ot a "real" Mech sim. Hell, the controller has windshield wipers and ejection buttons for God's sake!!!
Yes, Steel Battalion and Armoured Core are all good, semi-realistic games. But they don't come anywhere close to Justvinnie's desire for a perfectly real game. Taking several dozen missle hits to the chest and still moving isn't "real".
And besides, we're talking about powered armour that transforms into a motorcycle and giant robots. If you're looking for "real", you're DEFINITLY in the wrong game genra.
-
You take a dozen rounds and run around as if it was nothing. That's no fun, because then whoever was the big gun will live.
That happened everywhere in Mospeada, Macross, and almost every other anime around, so it's not too far out of whack for the game to be like that.
And the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a Cyclone in an FPS game. Yes, it'd be damned cool for it to be in 3rd person, I think it works better as an FPS in regards to the source material. In a VF-1, Alpha, and most other mecha, the pilot looks a screen that shows the outside world. In a Cyclone, the pilot looks through his own eyes.
-
There is NOTHING wrong with the Cyclones
-
Says who? It just said that the mecha most often used will be the Cyclones (yay! ). It made no mention that the Alpha's aren't going to be used in any way.
-
I guessed that they would have to make up a bunch of stuff like the plot and add a bunch of things to flesh out the game.
That's not too bad, actually. It's not like we saw the entierty of the Mospeada world in the series.

they seemed to focus more on dazzleing us with high-def animation, and not dazzle us with intricate story building.
Exactly my point.

New pic, bottom left-hand corner. Anyone else notice a Skull Squadron insignia on the helmet?
-
Sweet. Think you could give us a better scan later on?
Preorder for the Alpha MPC is now open

This might be a somewhat radical suggestion, but has anyone tried emailing Toynami and asking them directly about the canopy and seams?
