  1. This thing is looking very good! Great job! Graham: you have almost a philosophycal question here! What's a model and what's a toy? If I take appart a superposeable and fix all the deffects, cast new parts, glue it again and pose it fixed (no more movement) paint it with my airbrush and make it look just as a "model"...aside from a waste of time and money: it is still a toy?
  2. Sorry, are we sure that that thing is a light bar? Any screen cap to show that please? The blue one looks terrific!!
  3. You should also consider Preiser 1/144 Nato Pilots and ground crew (excellent!!) and DML Dragon 1/144 cat launch sets.
  4. That cannot be just mere coincidence!! Almost every characteristic from the VF-4 is there. Amazing!
  5. Looks nice but it's functionality is awful!! Have you seen the crappy panel istalation? That is something that even a Robosapien can do!!!
  6. Beautiful collection!! He did almost everything. Even the old Imai/Bandai battroids look great!!
  7. Sorry but: that bar on top of the mast is a lightbar? I thought that was a radar antena or something like that Is there any screen cap that shows that thing as a lightbar?
  8. Err....because I wasn't really sure whether to post it in the anime or toys forum. I mean it's a book, so it's not an anime, but then again neither is it a toy!?????? . So I thought, post it first in the Macross anime section so people who mostly visit that section will see the news and then move it to the Macross toy forum as I guess (in my mind at least) a book is closer to a toy than an anime . Graham Maybe you should move this to Movies and TV Series forum where books are discussed? Movies and TV Series Discussions on the Macross series and Movies Characters, themes, and books
  9. Good idea! I mean put it working on a VF-1. I'm plannig to vacuform the cockpit using the resin part as a template and put a pilot figure inside. Of course the transparent should be painted with clear smoke paint.
  10. The options in the decal sheet are great. The grey version is indeed a good option to consider but I still prefer the blue one (more Flanker like if you know what I mean What is fugly is the way the Hase modelers paint it for the box pics.
  11. I've just received this wonderful resin model. It's level of details is amazing for the size of the model. The casting is superb. Not a single thing to complain!!! Thanks guys!! You did a great job!! Now I have to build it and find a way for displaying it. Any ideas?
  12. AMEN!!! Most of the complains some people has with the Hase models (i.e. inaccuracies with respect to some line art) can be easily "fixed" even with some basic modelling skills. So, if they feel that the models are so "bad" Why don't they just fix them? BTW: I love those models and even the ERRORS they have (some of those errors are big improvements!!)
  13. I'm deeply sorry for calling you a Troll. As you had a science fiction authors confussion that day I was also sufferig a very bad mood day. I was convinced that your post was a joke or some sort of very soft trolling (as Duke said, actual hard trolling is something different!!) Just remember another Clarke's thing related to Macross that was discussed some time ago: The helmets used in Macross share similiarities with those from Kubrick's 2001 movie.
  14. Your link doesn't work. Actually it works...as the webmaster of the Modelersite wanted to...Damn!! Enter the site and go to thr Sci-Fi and ships section. the article is there. It is a very old model but I enjoyed a lot building it. In the same section I published the Hase VF-1J Battroid article too.
  15. Is this trolling? Seems so, you are mixing science fiction authors without even thinking what you are writing!! First, as was stated above, Isaac Asimov wrote Foundation. Second: Fahrenheit 451 was written by Ray Bradbury and he is mad about Moore using a simmilar title for his film. I had the same impression about M0 and Clarke!!. Thanks Jeileinen for bring this up!
  16. I actually did the same that yo want to do with my very old Arii VF-1S Battroid. Arii 1/100 VF-1 battroid I used a hypodermic needle (the smaller ones are great) for the barrels. Just cut three segments and glue them. In some art stores (for instance: Pearl) they carry very thin stainless steel tubes (raw material for needles, I think) To cut them i used a very fine needle file. Nowadays I cut them using a Dremel tool with an abrasive cutting disc. I still use them as barrels for my aircraft models. I even used one as the pitot tube for a 1/72 Sea Harrier!!
  17. Got mine last week. It's a beauty!! Though the way the Hase modellers painted (I mean the small pics at the sides of the box) it is way awfull (a boring cobalt blue all over, no weathering at all)!! This VF deserves a wmcheng treatment to represent the original animation painting. What about the credit card leaflet whit the Black 1/48 VF-1? Anybody knows what it says?
  18. From Macross Compendium (this is the site you should check first for everything related to Macross): Compendium VF-1 specs ....Standard external 55 mm Howard GU-11 three-barrel gatling gun pod...
  19. Good job!! As for the arm details, I wonder of the Yamato VF-11 arms are not exactly what you need (I mean arms not forearms)
  20. Great!! Awsome work!! Can't wait to have it!!
  21. Yes, there are some gaps but what I see is M0 collection that looks very nice when I'm still pilling up model boxes of the same models... I mean, he has some gaps here and there but he has finished more Macross models than I did in my entire life and they look really good. I always try to fill gaps, polish the plastic, re-do panels line and all that modellers stuff that ussually stop my modelling for months. VF-19 pilot!!!: maybe you should try Mr Surfacer as a gap filler. I use the 500 direct from the bottle (actually from the lid where is thickser) and it works great on minor gaps. I dries very fast too and finishing with a 600 sand paper would give you a smooth enough surface.
  22. Man: you'r fast!! Looks great!! And I'm glad that my advice is working that well for you!! It's really easier to handle and cleaner than the oil wash.
  23. Nice model!! The color is much better than the suggested one. Thanks for sharing!!
  24. Yes, I'm a MAN... I wonder how many Meltrans we have right now active in these forums... I'm glad that it worked for you!! It's not my technique It is from some guy in Fine Scale Modeler. As for a beer, if you happen to be close to Cambridge, MA just PM me!!
  25. Is anybody planning a sub-launch tube diorama for the SV-51s?? It could be cool!! I think that with a smaller scale model could be easier.
