Yes it IS a toy, but it is not representing a walking robot.

The Macross flies and DOESN'T walk, that is why it doesn't have knees.

Like Hurin mentionned earlier, the part were it can be seen with knees in the movie, is just an animation error.

This is a bit of a longshot.... but has anybody parted out a YF-19 who might be willing to sell me some pieces? Mine just suffered fatal battle damage on its first transformation - when I snapped the neck down as per Graham's video, it snapped clean off! Now my $200 paperweight is in two pieces.... is there any chance somebody might have a spare cockpit/nose for sale, or even just the gray piece that attaches to its underside via twin screws and incorporates the plastic pins on which the nose pivots?

Have you tried contacting your seller, maybe he can replace it if it's a manufacturing flaw or something.

I bought mine from BBTS.com and they sometime offer replacement depending of the case.

Here's my extremly little collection.

1 x Yamato 1/60 YF-19

1 x Yamato 1/48 VF-1S Hikaru

Fast packs have been ordered/pre-ordered for both. Both have some of Takatoys excellent stikers applied.

I also fixed the crooked YF-19 Gunpod.

Having watched DYRL before seeing the TV series, I'm far more a fan of Hikaru's VF-1S color scheme than I am of Roys.

So looks like I have the G-man himself supporting Hikaru's VF-1S paint scheme as being just as nice or even better tham Roy's.

That's great Graham, I can't wait to see all those pics you took at WF.

Pg 120 of Shoji Kawamori Macross Design Works has a rough drawing of the internal weapon bay of the VF-11C.

Pg 78 of the same book has a rough of a VF-11B with a single "stealth pod" mounted on each wing. It is possible that these eventually developed into what I consider the 'aerodynamic UUM-7' missile pods as seen on the cover of the "This is Animation Special Macross Plus" book, in front of the YF-19.

Well if memory serves right, the internal jeg missile bays on the vf-11c are not cannon. Kawamori-san once said that these were early concepts and that the cannon vf-11 had no internal missile bays in the legs.

IMHO it gets better around ep 20. The ending of the series is ackward.

Well I for one think Hikaru's VF-1S paint scheme is a nice variant.

Everyone always gets Roy's scheme.

So from my POV, it's a nice dictinction from everyone else.

I agree with your last comment too, We don't have to ignore what the mac7 fans think; but I dare you to watch the macross 7 movie finale and tell me that mac7 don't sucks!

I'm a macross fan periode. Meaning I love all of the macross shows. Some are better than others, but IMHO none suck.

That's a great exemple of customizing skills.
