They'll probably adopt a low-vis scheme similar to the one they're currently using... the tailfins aren't black, but they're a really dark grey. I hope they keep the Vegabond stripe somehow... it wouldn't bode well for the bearers of the skull and crossbones to forget their roots For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, here's the scheme they're currently using: -
Everyone is still so quick to shove good 'ol "Ed-u-gar" off.... since the majority of VF-1s are single-seaters.... need I remind everyone that the VF-1D is a 2 seater fighter and could easily be their replacement (since their 0D obviously isn't flyable)

I'm in Russellville, about midway down the river-valley in The northwest quarter of the state.

When you have wicked, stifiling heat like Arkansas does, you can leave the paint in a closed garage and get a very similar effect (with a slightly reduced chance of the can exploding)

as someone who owns/has owned both, I can honestly say that the ARMD platforms would look incredibly short and stubby on a 1/3000 SDF-01. Not to mention the entire shoulder would have to be reworked (the gun pivots on the tv version are external, in the movie version they're internal), main gun booms would have to be longer, etc.. They're really completely different animals... but it would be neat to see someone try.

*sigh* another movie completely shot down before it's been given a chance to prove itself... It's probably a far better movie than *I* could direct, and as such, I will not judge it until I see it in it's entirety.

my bad, I'm thinking of "Love Stories"

I rather thought he had a native-american look to him myself...

I remember using Stampede Valkyries for the vast majority of Cruiser-busting, those things just completely rocked... It's been a little while since I've played it (still have it installed though), but I seem to recall standard VF-1s doing very little good against an untouched cruiser. (as in, you could win, but count on most of the squadron you send against them being wiped out) I'd try to maneuver the SDF-01 to get as many targets as possible within the LOF for the main gun and then send in the SDPs for mop-up.

Rare for the sake of being Rare (Rant)
Skull Leader replied to Ghadrack's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'd like to discuss the low-vis for a moment (in terms of rarity and value). The real craze to get one of these didn't really hit until the run was over and people realized Yamato wasn't going to do a second run. The run stopped late last year, but the massive run to get one of these didn't really start up until around March or so of this year (yeah, there were always people that hunted them, but not in as great a frequency as recently). It seems to go in waves, and I think conversation and panic helped to spark it. There was some discussion earlier this year where a number of people believed there might be a possibility that Yamato might do a second run of low-visability valkyries. There were enough nay-sayers that mentioned that it was a limited run and would NOT be reissued, so it was "off to the races". People stopped waiting for what wouldn't happen and grabbed for whatever they could find... and up the price went Maybe it's unprincipled to flaunt it obsessively ("HA! I have it and YOU don't!!!"), but even as a fan I think there really is something cool to being "one of the few" when it comes to owning a certain commodity. Depending on how YOU (as individuals) classify being a "fan", it's only as big a deal as you make it out to be (or so I think) It's also important to know that once you're beyond the initial "deal", oftentimes the appeal goes down slightly (although I love my low-vis valkyrie and I feel the price I paid for it was justified, I'd give it up long before I'd give up my Hikaru 1S Strike set which I paid less for, but I love it far more) We all have items we'd love to get our hands on, but missed the boat for... for me it was a Takatoku VF-1 Super Valkyrie set and an original bandai strike valkyrie set. I've managed to console myself though that they're only different paint variants on the other Takatoku/bandais I own. It *is* important to note that however evil people may feel "limited editions" are, they do encourage and invoke the want to collect. It's generally those "out of reach" pieces that keep us in the collecting game. In my opinion, those "rare" or "limited edition" pieces were really meant to be the "end-all be-all" of someone's collection (that which you persue when you've already accumulated everything that is more accessable), it's only the minority that have the bankroll to go head to head with Yamato's (or insert any other "company X" here) production schedule. What this translates into is that the majority of collectors have a collection of many things that are easier to find and generally one or two "main attractions" -
I don't understand why everyone has such a problem with NOT discussing cosplay on this board.... it's going to get the thread shut down. Someone HAS to post a pic of a cosplayer and then someone HAS to make a comment (good or bad) on the cosplayer in the picture.... we've lost 2 threads in less than 2 months for this very reason. People can NOT keep their comments on the cosplayers to themselves... Just stop it all here... I understand this is a thread about the convention, and cosplaying is a part of that. However it's gotten members in trouble before here numerous times. While the people who post the images probably have only the best intentions at heart, some smacktard (fileplanet's term, not mine) is going to come along and criticize how they look. Just because some guy is having gender-recognition issues with his costume or some girl porks out of her costume or whatever, some people here simply cannot avoid making a smartass remark about it. Just like all RT posts inevitably turn into HG or toynami bashing sessions, cosplay threads quickly turn into a contest to see who can outdo each other with either the hottest or fugliest cosplayers. My rant is not directed at those who post pictures just because... but people who put pictures here for cheap thrills (or scares) need to back off of it, and everyone else needs to remember what Roy said about cosplay pictures... is it so hard to follow directions? I'm really sorry if I've offended anyone over this (please PM me if you have a problem), but I've gone as long as I can without saying anything and I'm sick of seeing posts get shot down over this.

My bad... I completely mis-read the post above (removes head from ass) I am aware that the two RPGs are not one and the same, I was merely commenting that if you examined the two OCCs ("Veritech Pilot OCC" from RT and "Valkyrie Pilot OCC" from MII) side by side, they are very similar.
-
pick a forum and confine your question to one area please... posts across multiple forums (for anything less than a truely urgent thing, and I'm sorry, this doesn't qualify as urgent) are considered rude. It's not a question of exposure, people who would want to view and comment on your topic will view the post even if it's not in mulitple forums. Thanks!

For the record, it does. See the Macross II RPG books. What's more, the "Veritech Pilot" OCC from the Robotech books is near identical (just replace all "veritech/icrap" with "Valkyrie")

The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL
Skull Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Movies and TV Series
In a word, no. HG would have to cancel everything they had with toynami first, and I don't see this happening. -
The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL
Skull Leader replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Movies and TV Series
Go back to trolling on boards where people will listen man, we have no need for this here. I have no beef with HG releasing DYRL here in the US so long as it's unedited in any form or fashion (people over at RT.com are clamoring to see the original RT voice-crew Dub DYRL.... a geriatric voice crew? get real..... Warren and Clarke are the only two still doing Voice acting to any SERIOUS degree) -
Who has the guts to 'Jet Fire' their 1/48?
Skull Leader replied to fifbeat's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Actually a VF-1R Kai would be sweet to see in 1/48 (not the fruity non-canon VF-1R Robotech did). -
I've cut her a little slack also. Regardless, the songs SUCK. In her interview in "Robotech: Battlecry", she openly admits that all of the songs were pretty bad (she mentioned only one that she felt like was any good, and I don't remember which one that was) Both in the same place at the same time... wow...

Curious: What do you guys think of Castlevania
Skull Leader replied to wakobi's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
yeah yeah, ROM IMAGE... everyone knows what I meant.... It took me the better part of three days of trying to land a crissaegrim and then I landed TWO back to back. Nothing like running with a wall of destruction clearing the way for you... go through the inverted clock hallways and watch your level SOAR! -

Skull Leader replied to wakobi's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
JBO, a lot of the diehard Castlevania fanatics (I'm not one of them) consider RoB to be THE definative Castlevania ever (at least as it was seen on the SuperCD) As in, they considered it the ultimate game that could be delivered in the classical Castlevania style, and they're right... the game "owns" so hard it's a difficult platformer to top. If you can find the game or a ROM, I highly reccomend it! Although Castlevania purists cannot stand the SNES translation (Castlevania "Circle of Blood", while technically a correct name translation, it removes all of the musical nuance from the name... the Euro version was known as "Castlevania: Vampire's Kiss" to remove all blood notions from the name), I found it to be pretty decent for what the SNES could do. The music took a cut in quality, no voices, and no cutscenes between stages, but the basic game itself is intact. If you can't find RoB, this is a decent substitute. Said purists place Akumajo Dracula: Gekka no Nocturne (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night) in a whole different category, and again rightfully so. The game was all that which is cool minus a difficulty level (for REALLY easy work, use the Crissaegrim sword, NOTHING can stand in your way!). Some people have referred to it as "Baroque Super Metroid", which is pretty funny... the two games aren't far off in terms of gameplay. LoI has recieved a mixed reaction. No one doubts that the graphics and animation are beautifully done and the music is all encompassing, but gameplay took some serious knocks. People all over have bashed the camera angles (it frustrated me at many points in the game when I would come to an intersection where I could not see down all directions.... you usually had to go in "guns blazing" or else face the wrath of some enemy you could not see). Nevertheless it was remotely entertaining. Having said that, it only made #3 on my Castlevania list (a distant third under SotN and RoB) -
you paid $600 for a Tanmen Cat's-Eye kit??? Are you nuts??

Airbase Tour! 124FS/132FW. F-16CG Blk 42's
Skull Leader replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You lucky SOB! I'd kill for time on the flightline with a bunch of fighters and time in a sim (even if it was busted) Congrats on your good fortune! -
I still have most of my cards from the alpha/beta days... I stopped playing sometime around "legends" (I think that's what it was) I DO know that those "made/ready-to-play" decks can be cut down by almost anyone with even a remote idea of how the game works.
