I'm a slow builder, but I've wanted a VF in these markings for years. I'm liking the 36375 gray scheme. Lwt me do a few tests to see what looks best on the Excalibre, but the Dogs will ride in the 2040's!

Thanks, Chronocidal. You've put into words my gut feeling about painting the YF-19. I don't have any photoshop skills, so I'm going to print out some lineart and color it with markers, just to get a rough guide to how the colorscheme will break out. Question: I saw a post where you said the -19 should look good in a Su-27 scheme. What do you think of a standard Flanker scheme with Pukin' Dogs insignia?

jardann,thank you for the images and advice! I like the idea of flat red/w a bit of dark grey. Oh-that first Pukin' Dogs image is the instructions from the sheet I ordered. After looking at these images, I think the simpler grey will be better on the -19. I'm going to post pixs soon in a build thread, and again, opinions and tips from everyone will be much appreciated!

Hi all. I'm starting two kits,a 1/72 scale VF-22S I'm painting as Milia's Special, and the 1/48 YF-19 that I'm turning into a VF-19A+. Do any of you have any tips for painting the red on Milia's VF so that it looks like a plane and not a cel from the anime? Should I add a couple of tones to vary the scheme? On the VF-19, I'm planning on doing it as the World Famous Pukin' Dogs, using a Fightertown Decals sheet for the gryphon/puking dog markings. I was going to paint an old-skool F-4 Phantom-style scheme of gloss gray over white, but the more I think about it, I'm afraid that will look to busy on the fighter. Now I'm thinking a simple gloss gull gray scheme with some blue trim. What do you think? Any opinions or advice y'all can offer are most welcome!

This. I'd buy 10 VF-11s in 1/72 scale! C'mon Hasegawa! It's not like this is an obscure VF that only a few fans would know about!

It wouldn't be bad in 1/72 either, except I'm just dumb enough to buy both! I have the YF-19 and the VF-1J/A in 1/48 already, and when they do Max and Milia those are guaranteed buys from me. The Super/Strike as well. Thank goodness these won't all come out at once! This particular VF-19 is very appealing to me, I might change the squadron logos, but I'm glad they did an "operational" scheme.

This one is a sure buy from me, but I don't know how many more 1/48s I'll buy just because of space problems - I have a ton of 1/48 jets already.

John, if it's in 1/72nd then you'll sell one to me.

LOL - don't worry Micky, I'm a slooooowwwwww builder,too! I'm definitely locking my -G in Fighter Mode, and the experience of building it will tell whether or not the next one (probably Ozma, but it depends on the mood I'm in Friday when I order from HLJ again) stays Variable or gets locked in GERWALK. Did you give your kit a bath before you started? I usually do, but with all the handling this model will need during construction, I'm think maybe just wiping her with rubbing alcohol as I get to the steps that need paint. What do you think?

That ITV scheme would look really cool! Maybe if you used "faded" shades it wouldn't jar against the Valkyrie?
