  1. There is one standing female styrene plastic figure in 1/48-she comes in the Fujimi 1/48 scale Navy Pilots and Deck Crew Set.( Also sized down for the 1/72 scale version of the set )She's a Naval Air Station type crew person in blue dungarees and "Mickey Mouse" ear protection. She is holding her left arm up in a "thumbs up". She is quite nicely feminine-looking-not super busty, mind you.I think she would be a good conversion basis figure.
  2. I just looked up "Dreadnought" on Wikipedia and you are right.I stand corrected on the Michegan Issue but I still believe that Destroyers started out as Torpedo Boat Destroyers.
  3. Sign me up,too!I'd buy a couple-especially if a Meltran figure or Milia herself was available.Does anyone have the sewing skills to stich up Zentraedi uniforms for Dragon WW II soldiers or CY GIRL/COOL GIRL/Triad toys style figures?
  4. Does anyone know when Toynami's 1/6 Max comes out?
  5. I don't know about the toy,but i'm gonna convert a 1/72 Weapons Set pilot or two so Milia has breasts. :PA Nora for the SV-51 "Nora",too.
  6. I got my kit today.Perfect condition and very "cheeky" .Thanks Ryuji!
  7. That would be the pre-Dreadnought Era.HMS Dreadnought is considered the 1st "modern"battleship-all biig guns & heavy armor.Actually,Battleships should be called "Michegans" because USS Michegan was designed and finished BEFORE HMS Dreadnought.
  8. You got that right.P-47's were put to pasture before their time, also.Of course, that left Air Force pilots during the Korean War quite vulnerable doing ground-attack in P-51D's.One 12.7mm round the Mustang's inline engine and you were going down.If they had P-47's the same level of damage would only cause oil leakage from 1 or more shot-away engine cylinders and she'd get you home.Of course,I'm not saying the Super Bugs that much inferior to the F-14.
  9. I think you are correct. This is talking late pre-Dreadnought era to just before World War I.I believe it had to do with gasoline engines powerful enough to drive Torpedo Boats to 25-30 kts. and steam torpedos large enough to threaten Battleships.
  10. Yeah,I always thought it was funny that the AEGIS-type "cruisers" are built on the same hull type & size as Spruance Class Destroyers.I guess a BILLION Dollar(or more)cost ship just couldn't be a Destroyer.
  11. It's more like this-a bit hard to see, sorry. look for the spindly ladder under the intake safety triangles.
  12. Pound for pound has there ever been a plane that EXCELLED at every role it was given the way the Tomcat has? And,have you heard that Iran has been able to get all kinds of parts to stand-up their F-14 fleet while ours was standing down!Check out Combat Aircraft Magazine Volume 6,# 6, page 20. Anyway, the Tomcat has been my favorite plane since I was a kid-she'll be sorely missed.
  13. I am using some things from that set(figures, toolboxes)along with the Hasegawa Weapons Loading Set.I may end up modifying the F-15 boarding ladder that comes with the Ground crew set-but I really want that pull-down ladder. Remember the Bandai 1/72 scale Valk Fighter?Does anyone have a picture of the ladder that came in that set?
  14. Thanks!I'm working on a VF-1J MiriaType and I want an open canopy to show off the photo-etch and stuff.Got any idea's about how to do the boarding ladder? (brass wire, styrene strips,?)
  15. That's cool,David.I found that book in the Squadron Catalog-thanks for pointing me towards it!The F-18 book from DACO must be good as well then, huh?I think I'll order them both. Thanks!
  16. I agree about Trumpeter-have you noticed the cockpits in some of their WWII fighters? They are so shallow they look ready for a Formula I driver! David, canyou recommend a good reference to accurize the Tamiya 1/32 F-16?
  17. Excellent work! How did you hinge the canopy?
  18. I was actually commenting on the color scheme, and thanking you for posting the pictures 'cuz the unit's website was down when I looked.
  19. We don't SEE the Angel Birds in DYRL,however when we first see Valks being readied for launch,Misa says something like"Skull,Angel,& Apollo Teams, stand by." I just assumed Angel Team was the AngelBirds.
  20. Spatula,I was wondering what base coats & colors you've tried the raw umber on?
  21. David,I think you are correct about glossy vs. flat on the MilliaType-I want it flat but fairly clean.Where can I see a photo of that VFA-102 CAG bird?
  22. Thanks for those pictures,MechTech!I'm going for a "Viva Maria" episode-time line so Millia's Valk probably would look like the Red Arrows-pretty clean after 2 years of peacetime ops and marriage. So do you guys figure medium-to dark grey pre-shade?Or an oil wash of medium brown?
  23. This is quite close to what I was thinking-maybe a bit cleaner. It's funny-I would love a 1/24 scale Viper Mk II to build 'cuz those birds are DIRRR-T! I just don't think a Valk would be BSG dirty-especially not Miria's. ^_^David,your second example is probably the closest to what I had in mind.Another question for you guys, onthe red Valk, would you prime it grey or white?
