  1. Well, two correct answers, and quite close. Sorry Richter, but this one goes to lord_breetai, he was almost half an hour faster. Answering the bonus one... --SPOILER ALERT-- In Volume 7, Kaji reveals that he had a younger brother. Both and some friends ganged up after the Second Impact, and to survive they stole food from a nearby military base. However, during one of those runs, Kaji was captured and, gun on his head, forced to reveal where the other kids where hiding. He did, and his brother and friends were murdered. After that he reasoned that he had traded his brother's life for his own (like, as he told the First Children, Misato had with his father's and Shinji with Touji's) and decided to find the truth behind Second Impact as atonishment. (Damn, should have made the bonus the main question, it's much more powerful ) --End of Spoiler-- You can find Volume 7 in less than one minute in google, or pm me, if you want to know the whole story. Your turn, lord_breetai
  2. Thanks. Now, continuing the Eva theme, one question. During episode 1, Angel Attack, Ritsuko mentioned a nickname that Eva-01 earned due to it's quite low probability to start up. What was it? And the bonus one, Eva manga related. In the manga, during Zeurel's attack, while telling Shinji that him, like Misato and himself, didn't deserve to be happy, Kaji revealed the very reason why he searched the truth behind Seele and the Second Impact. What (and who) is the reason?
  3. That's so... so... so f*cking beautiful, man.... Can't see anything wrong there, although I don't have my copy of perfect memory here to check out.
  4. Quite fitting, if you ask me. And keeps HG for getting the domain
  5. I second that motion. lost my copy a few weeks ago in a massive crash (damned winxp:angry: )
  6. Unless he ain't counting the credits and is talking about Ai wa nagareru, the song with the WWII sequences blended in, from which there are various versions, including the short one, full run, and full run orchestrated (the one in the DVD) which has never been relased in any media (AFAIK) other than Flashback 2012.
  7. Same reason that the SpaceShipOne didn't. When they hit the (dense) atmosphere again, they are flying only at Mach 5 or so, instead of the shuttle's (or anything that goes orbital for that matter) Mach 25 . That's a lot less energy that transforms into heat.
  8. Zatoichi A Takeshi Kitano movie. Probably the coolest thing I've seen in my life. Funny lines and situations without being too corny within a plot that isn't any less serious by the comedic tone. Also, the best realistic sword fight scenes EVER, and Kitano is a BADASS! Only thing that I didn't enjoy as much was the Stomp-y dance sequence at the very end, although I must say it was an amusing sight.
  9. Around here, it's usually more like, nice ending, they lived happily ever after, better stick with it because Kawamori won't touch it anymore and I don't think that woudl be good either. Sure, nothing more was ever know of them, but I won't let that mess with my head. If you, however, want a nice and GOOD not so little story about the mroad and why they aren't talking with us, go to fanfiction.net and check out Legend of the Megaroad in the Macross/Robotech section. too bad it's discontinued On the other hand, welcome to the forum, kodiack. Enjoy the madness, have some yoshinol, and careful with any door near AgentONE, don't think you'd want to touch them, let alone open them
  10. Besides the effective weapons range issue, due to the very high speed, hit and fade nature of the Ghost's tactics, a slow moving target like a Battroid would be a sitting duck, blown right out of the sky before the pilot knew what hit him. I think it would go pretty much like this: Battroid going defensive (Ghost approaching for it's attack run) Closure rate WAY too high for the pilot to successfully manouver the VF and bear his weapons or shield against the drone before it fires. Result, zoom and BOOM, blown up just like Guld was. Note that Guld used the remaning speed of Fighter Mode to buy him some time, and he planned it all along. Had he been caught off guard, he problably wouldn't had enough time to transform. FUBAR. Battroid mode going offensive (turning to the Ghost after surviving the run) Still accelerating, the Ghost would be out of range before the Battroid could turn and shoot. In other words, what Graham said.
  11. After that Rinoa, that Mai and that Ayame, I think it's official. Best cosplay thread EVER
  12. Thing is, there has already been some ALF movies. Two or three of them, I think.
  13. Actually they did. There is a sequence that shows Lhadatt and his gang getting scared by filmed launch tests failures (some of which look like primitive versions of the rocket used at the end, as far as I remember). Plus, I think it was told once or twice that satelites were used for communications, but that might be jsut me extrapolating. Man, I gotta see it again. Ever since I made the step into DVD media, my old tape collection, including WOH, has been MIA
  14. If that's how the Gunbuster sequel is going to be... DON'T TOUCH HONNEAMISE!!
  15. Letaushchii gastronom, Летаушчии гастроном, Flying liquor store Is there anything better than a plane that will take you higher than most, faster than all but one AND will be your drinking pal?
  16. At least, the missile would buy the Flanker enough time to turn back and fire another one (most likely the real kill shot) while preventing the enemy from doing the same. Btw, the Flanker's real name is Zhuravilk, Журавлик, which translates into Crane(the bird, not the machine). Quite fitting, if you ask me.
  17. PERUVIAN PRESENCE!! So, according to this thing, Lima, Peru, it's at... -Maporama Latitude: -12.0435 or -12° 2' 36" Longitude: -77.0212 or -77° 1' 16" I like this other one better. For all the other guys who know Pi to the 9th decimal place. -Travelgis Latitude: -12.0417882850462 or 12° 2' 30.4378261663" Longitude: -77.0399507808107 or -77° 2' 23.8228109185" couldn't use my address, though.
  18. HELL yeah! Lock On is way too buggy though. I'd go for the X-Wing, running X-Wing Alliance
  19. As reporters go, James Dunnigan is a great game designer. Actually, I have lots of respect for the man, but he's clearly not going to let facts get in the way of a good story. Here's the environmental assessment report on the Propulsion Replacement Program (PRP). PDF format, 2.8 megs. As noted in the report, the motors must be replaced if the Minuteman force is to remain viable through 2020. The environmental stuff is incidental to the replacement program, and environmental considerations went into the design of the new motors to make them "more environmentally safe in production, operation, maintenance and disposal." As one commentor at the strategypage.com site notes, operation is likely to mean test-firing. Thus the environmental protections will help safeguard the health of Americans who live downwind of the missile sites, and near the production and disposal facilities. I don't know where Dunnigan got the info that the new motors will reduce the range of the Minuteman, but since they are fixed missiles with fixed targets, I don't see how it would matter operationally even if true. Also--how is this relevant to the F/A-22? Dunno man, but if there IS a future nuclear war, I think a few less tons of toxic gases in our atmosphere would be the LEAST of our worries...
  20. Macross, the version from Macross the Tribute, sung by no other than Basara. Man, I liked the original (as cheesy as it was), but this one.... I felt like they could shoot me with the macross cannon and the sheer power of spiritia would carry me through....
  21. Planetes. Even if Areaseven's review doesn't talk fondly of it (his only review which I thought was DEAD wrong, heck, the only one I thought he was wrong), it's a GREAT character driven series (with cool, realistic and functional mecha and double the standard framerate). It's a story about the day to day basis of the members of the Half Section, The Half Section is the responsable of removing any piece of space debris that may cross it's orbital way so it won't blow out of the sky useful satelites and manned spacecraft. In other words, they are the trashmen, the Debris Section of Technora Corporation, starting from the introduction of it's newest member, Ai Tanabe, a extremely optimistic girl whose romantic notions of space are crushed by a diaper wearing, headbanded EVA worker. Even the "episode characters" are given a whole workout. Chapter 10's Temura Poiter's (the guy that went up to sell his spacesuit model, if I remember the name correctly) story it's the most bittersweet tale of victory of not only one man, but a whole doomed community. Gigalde Gangalagash or Nono-chan are also good examples Of course, there are some comedic events. Like the ninja squad rescue, Fee's "save the smoker pod" run and most scenes when Goro Hoshino is on. Can't recommend it enough. After all, it's my second favorite anime, second only to Macross Plus BTW, the Half in Half Section stands for almost anything, from Half-Staffed to Half-Assed...
  22. Don't think they had any destroid left onboard the Daedalus. And the whole point of the Daedalus Attack is not the fisting, but the ability to blow the enemy from the vulnerable inside. On the other side, they could have AIMED BETTER
  23. Finally... the heir to the long forgotten (and sorely missed) Microsoft Space Simulator. Anyone else here remembers that one?
  24. VF-1A. Another brownie with the coolest head out of the bunch. Just praying the ejection seat actually works for a change. And, yeah, I'd go for a VF-4. I'd rather appear with the oldie but IMPRESSIVE Lightning III than the cool but weaky looking Thunderbolt. That or the VF-14. There is somenthing going on with that cone (besides, fighter mode is freakin' beautiful )
