Quickie scanlation (though, frankly I'm surprised how much English there is. The binder, for example, is only in English!) Macross Chronicle Series Guide: There are 2 types of pages: Regular Sheets and Special Sheets. Regular Sheets: Mechanic Sheet Character Sheet Timeline Sheet World Guide Sheet History Sheet Technology Sheet Special Sheet: Gallery Sheet Song Sheet Goods Sheet Glossary Sheet Tribure Sheet Making Sheet Extra Sheet How to file Mechanic, Character and History sheets: Step 1: Classified by the production icon* Step 2: Classified by the power icon* Step 3: File by the sheet number Step 4: File by the alphabet letter on the sheets *Production Icons and power icon meanings (presented in the order of listing. First is topmost): Zero = Macross Zero; UN Army, Anti UN, Civilian, Other M = SDF:M; UN Army, Zentraedi, Civilian, Other FB = Flashback 2012; UN Army, Zentraedi, Civilian, Other Plus = Macross Plus; UN Army, Civilian, Other 7 = Macross 7; UN Army, Zentraedi, Varuta, Civilian, Other 7銀 = Macross 7 Movie; UN Army, Zentraedi, Varuta, Civilian, Other D7 = Macross 7 Dynamite; UN Army, Zentraedi, Civilian, Other F = Macross F; New UN Army, Civilian, Other, ?** 愛 = DYRL?; UN Army, Zentraedi, Meltraendi, Protoculture, Civilian, Other II = Macross II; UN Army, Marduk, Civilian, Other 他 = Other*** ** It doesn't say it, but I think additional icons will be added as Macross F continues. I'm guessing Macross Galaxy. Possibly also the Vajra (but as it's already halfway through the series and we know about them... isn't it a bit odd that there isn't an icon for them?????) *** Includes mechanics, character, etc. for games and etc.. (Ex: VF-14 Vampire, Battle 13, Neo-gluag) -

GST? This isn't Canada. That 5% is the consumption tax. As it's required to be included in the sticker price on all things sold, it shouldn't be added during the purchasing process. At most, all the register should be doing is telling the purchaser how much tax was paid. -

If I remember correctly (and if the comics industry hasn't changed that radically since I worked in the retail branch of it) then if Diamond comics was offering issue one, it would have already done so. Probably 1 or 2 months ago. -

I paid 1780 for the binder (total 2370.) Is your store cutting off the 1 yen as a discount or something? (PS tax is included in all Japanese prices since like 2 years ago (everyone I know thinks the government wants to raise the consumption tax a few points and want to hide it by doing it this way...) The prices given (590 and 1780) include tax. W/o tax, it's 562 and 1695; as per the cover and the label on the box that the binder comes in.) -

Me thinks that you are reading too much onto made up words based on (most likely misused) words borrowed from a foreign language because they sound cool. -

I got it too. I was very underwhelmed by the Macross content in it. Basically - save your yen and buy newtype (or Macross chronicle.) The gist of my glancing at the text in the article was how Japanese culture is being emphasized in Macross Frontier. I'm sure there's a bunch more stuff in the text. But as I was overwhelmed and I purchased Great Mechanics DX 5 the same weekend (which has a decent sized article on the VF-25)... -

Long story short, if you own a bunch of Macross (lineart) books and Newtype magazines, the only new art is the stuff on Macross F - and there's not that much of it. If you don't own a bunch of Macross books, then the twice monthly databook is a treasure trove of Macross goodies. Recommended if you don't own very many Macross books, or are a nut about Macross. - The binder isn't quite worth the cost (you could pick up a much, much cheaper one at a ¥100 shop (or dollar store) near you. Though, it is covered in Macross graphics and comes with dividers to seperate the data from subsequent Macross Chronicle releases... er, issues. PS there was all of one binder on the shelf in the shop that I went to - and I took it! I don't know if there were any earlier in the day. Nevertheless, understocked is true. (Maybe the shops are hedging their bets, as binders for previous data book releases, such as Gundam, X-Files, Star Trek, or Evangelion, haven't sold that well.) -

In a way... that SDF-1 Gerwalk looks a LOT like the Monster/VB-6 in Gerwalk mode! -
Macross Quarter concept prototype for Meltran Gunboat refit?
sketchley replied to RedWolf's topic in Movies and TV Series
Bwahahaha. That's wrong in so many ways! (In all the good ways ) Though, I'm glad that it wasn't put into SDF:M. It would've tipped the scales too far away from realistic and more towards ludicrous. -

IMHO, the Nona is the regular (Regult?) unit, and the Rau is the commander/elite/special forces unit. The Rea is the latest version with the latest tech improvements. I'm still fuzzy on how the Quilqua fits in - one off special (kai) version? Or commander/ship captain's model? -

Macross Quarter concept prototype for Meltran Gunboat refit?
sketchley replied to RedWolf's topic in Movies and TV Series
I can see the image/shape source of the Macross 1/4 now, thanks. However, it makes little sense to do a refit. It's far easier to simply manufacture new ships and recycle the parts in the old ones (if not keep them repaired and operating.) Personally, I think the Macross 1/4 is simply a test bed for more "smaller" sized battleships. Heck, all of the equipment that SMS operates in are test equipment. Ah, the wonders of a market oriented economy in Macross. -

Megaroad class ships are colony ships; they have a city inside of them. It is a class of ship that needs escorts, and should never be taken into battle. For a colourized (and larger) image: http://www.new-un-spacy.com/flashback2012/.../megaroad01.gif It's hard to get a sense of scale with the image - so consider the things near the lower rear as being similar in size to an ARMD you'll get an approximate idea. -

Don't forget that there are two types of emmigration fleet: long range, and short range (less than 100 light years from Earth.) <- this info's in the compendium. One such fleet found and colonized Eden (being within 100 light years...) It's highly probable that the SDF-1 lookalike ships were originally used as the flagships of these short range emmigration fleets. Once the majority of colonizeable planets were found in this "short range" zone, some of the SDF type ships may have been transferred to flagship other fleets, such as the one that the Varuta blew up real good. Another thing to consider is that we have never seen a New Macross Class ship operating for any length of time away from a City ship (aside from the one in VF-X2, but as that was just launched from the Factory Satellite...) Therefore, it is possible that SDF class ships are used because they are capable of operating for extended periods of time independent of support from other ships. -

It does, but also it begs the question: what is the New United Nations Government? By indications in the MF series, it is not the all encompassing savior of humanity. From what we know, the Galaxy fleet is seperate. The Frontier fleet, as well as all other long range emmigration fleets may also be all that composes the NUNG - with established colonies and Earth being either the (old) United Nations Government or seperate entities altogether. I'm just throwing this out with little to no shreds of evidence. Hopefully this upcoming arc will expand on the change from UNG to NUNG. -

Most likely. Check out the central torso in battroid mode (compared with the VF-25.) Though, in the VF flow chart in Great Mechanics DX4, there was a question mark after the SV-51. So, me be thinking that in universe it will be based off the Sv-51, but in reality, the transformation is based off the VF-25 (this is presuming that the VF-25 was designed first.) -

Ranka was in a space suit before, during and after the trip to the planet that got blowed up real good. Nothing new. (Though the before was mostly seen in a flashback after returning from the trip.) -

I don't think this counts as an animation error. Language, yes. But there are other threads for that. Food for thought: maybe they were trying to say "diary"? -

I read somewhere that a Beginhill training ship was covered with holograms and used as the prop for the Bodolza ship in the DYRL movie.
